"You wanna punch my visor?" "Sure. you wanna punch my visor?" "Sure"

Posted by Behn Wilson on October 12, 2014 at 07:18 PM

What can happen when a couple of under qualified "3's" get up the courage to actually let loose Impressive in bravery and intensity despite the distinct lack of skill and defence

Saw this fight live from about 40 feet away and loved every second of it! Gotta respect the Nuge for sticking up for himself. Think Hammer thought the kid was kidding at first but then it turned into a real entertaining fight :) Hamhuis definitely won, that last punch connected solidly and RNH went down. Great fight!

Posted by Wayner99 on October 12, 2014 at 05:30 AM

Good to see the Nuge respond after Air Hamhuis took a bit of a jump on the hit. Overall, the Hamhuis uppercut was the only punch that landed on something other than a helmet or visor, so I'll give the edge to Hamhuis.

Posted by The Mad House on October 12, 2014 at 02:51 AM

Wow.. I did NOT expect that! Good job from two non-scrappers Slight edge to Hamuis

Posted by sedinfan on October 12, 2014 at 12:53 AM

Best fight of the night if only for the fact that RNH and Hamhuis stood up and exchanged some punches, which is much more than most of the experienced fighters did tonight. Kudos to RNH especially, as i think it was his first NHL scrap ever.

Posted by ouchboi on October 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM

Give the kid probs for standing there swinging and standing up for himself

Posted by Massive Coiler on October 12, 2014 at 02:02 AM

I have been surprised so much by these fights so far. I'm in disbelief that this fight was this good. Fantastic job staying in there by Nugent-Hopkins against a stronger opponent. I'm tempted to vote draw because of the mismatch, but I feel like Hamhius did the better job here.

Posted by ghjkfdhgfd on October 13, 2014 at 01:26 AM

well that was rather good.

Posted by Decletjl on October 14, 2014 at 04:58 PM

Nice RNH stood up for himself, but Hamhuis got the better connections.

Posted by travist on October 14, 2014 at 07:43 PM

great hit and great seeing the kid drop the gloves and take a few to the noggin.

Posted by dandy4 on October 12, 2014 at 01:32 AM

Not going with the team I prefer. Both landed a couple, pretty even

Posted by Reeferman1967 on October 12, 2014 at 07:43 AM

The new NHL. Draw all the way. This is one proud papa........

Posted by doobi1 on October 12, 2014 at 02:48 PM

LIke the way Nugent-Hopkins started. He became tired of taking shit from Hamhuis. Nice bout, but this one is a draw because there were too many helmet punches.

Posted by shawnrocks on October 12, 2014 at 12:21 PM

good thing about non fighters is when they do fight they have no defence.

Posted by Uncle_Cy on January 17, 2015 at 11:04 AM

Ouch...stick to losing on purpose and hogging all the top draft picks in the NHL Nug cause fighting just ain't your thing.

Posted by Dave Brown HOF on October 18, 2014 at 02:27 AM

Decision to Hamuis. However, dropping the gloves and sticking up for himself with a fellow skill player while providing an entertaining fight is to be commended for the hometown boy RNH ...........must be in the water.

Posted by hipcheckCHI on October 12, 2014 at 09:03 PM

Props to the kid for taking care of his own business. If Nugent didn't tire out at the end when Hamhuis got the last few, would have scored it a draw. Very slight edge to Danny.

Posted by English_Bruin on October 12, 2014 at 04:49 AM

Enjoyed that, quite a spirited scrap with a slight edge to Hamhuis. Shame they both had their helmets on tho.

Posted by FaxCap on October 13, 2014 at 12:44 AM

Who in their right freakin' mind would have ever thought these 2 guys would produce a quality tilt! Hell of a fight! Hamhuis with the slight edge.

Posted by rocky 1 on October 12, 2014 at 05:20 PM

Two unlikely combatants but a really good fight!Close with both guys landing.Hamhuis gets last punch in for the win but Hopkings shows he can stand up for himself.Hamhuis look out one of the larger Oilers will exact revenge and Fuck you up!

Both fighters got in some good punches but with the obvious take down by Hamhuis, the nod goes in his direction. One of the better fights of the year.

Posted by sig16 on March 10, 2015 at 04:38 AM

Nug got Hammered - twice

Posted by Jordybats99 on March 11, 2016 at 09:00 PM

Good fight. Edge Dan Hamhuis.

Posted by odjick54fightin on December 04, 2014 at 01:54 AM

hammer wins, nuge punching air

Posted by Attikdrum on October 14, 2014 at 09:40 AM

Hamhuis leave his feet from the ice... stupid check. Nugent-hopkins came back with couple of punches to defend himself.. Hamhuis won but his still a D*ckhead

Posted by Bloodbank on October 13, 2014 at 08:54 PM

Well that was one-sided! Nice fight by two non-fighters. Win : Hamhuis

Posted by Jesticle on October 18, 2014 at 05:49 AM

Good fight, good win! Hammer looks good this year.

Posted by havanarat on October 12, 2014 at 08:09 PM

Nice job fellows

Posted by Sasky001 on October 12, 2014 at 04:56 PM

Nuge gets the decision simply because Hamhuis picked a spot and didn't dominate a non-fighter.

Posted by Rotorhead on October 26, 2014 at 11:52 PM

Corey Perry and Kessler should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.. Neither of these two, RNH or Hamhuis fight or ever really even consider it.. Yet they showed the above mentioned who are know for being opportunists, chickens, turtles and cheap shot artists exactly how to fight. Good for these two... And screw you Perry!!!

Posted by FHgrad99 on October 13, 2014 at 10:28 PM

Nugent-Hopkins had a slight edge the first half of the fight but the rest of the fight was all Hamhuis and he gets the clear win in a pretty good fight between two non-fighters.

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on October 12, 2014 at 02:10 AM

That was a beauty of a hit that Hamhuis laid on RNH and it lead to the best fight of the night by far!

Posted by samurairabbit on October 17, 2014 at 12:02 PM

Looked like neither one of them really wanted to go at it, what with the grabbing and facials. Once they opened up though it was pretty entertaining. Edge to Hammy for landing those overhand right's. But props to both for not holding back on smashing their hands against their visors.

Posted by iralustmanHF on October 16, 2014 at 08:45 AM

nice bout, it took them a while to decide to go, but once they agreed they both threw down. hamuis with the solid win.

Posted by Amerkfan8 on October 12, 2014 at 01:16 AM

I'm surprised that they actually ended up throwing. Hamhuis landed better out of the two, but that was pretty entertaining to watch. Always fun to see a couple star-level guys who don't fight much going at it.

Posted by DARCY T on October 31, 2014 at 05:36 PM

spirited fight between 2 non-fighters.actualy it was nugent-hopkins' 1st nhl fight...win hamhuis i guess....and 6

Posted by boldbilly on October 12, 2014 at 07:30 AM

Wow who knew....spirited scrap I'm sure both parties are really glad they had their visors stay on lol.....slight edge to Hamhuis...RNH ...showed a lot of heart as well

Posted by woodg90 on October 12, 2014 at 01:42 PM

Nod to Hammer.

Posted by EK65 on October 13, 2014 at 11:42 AM

Another tale of 2 very important pieces (untrained in the art of the fight) going head to head.. entertaining but, risky.. Its going to eventually end badly for somebody...

Posted by Humper on October 12, 2014 at 07:14 AM

Did not see that coming. Eventually it was a surprisingly nice exchange - visors and all - after they got the chit-chat out of the way. Hamhuis takes it.

Posted by ColdFire on October 12, 2014 at 01:22 AM

Hamhuis with the win and he did it with a glove still on his left hand. :P

Posted by bigmike53 on October 12, 2014 at 11:51 AM

2 non fighters try to figure out if they're gonna go or not. Once the decision is made we're not too disappointed. RNH and Hamhuis provide the best entertainment of this night of fights. Good scrap with Hamhuis having the slight edge when the dust settles.

Posted by rcz115 on October 12, 2014 at 01:32 AM

Nugent-Hopkins was in over his head...

Posted by BruinsAllDaySon on October 13, 2014 at 01:19 PM

That one goes to Nugent-Hopkins or draw in my opinion - no way do I see how Hamhuis gets the W here. Nugent-Hopkins early and late and held his own in the middle, no real good shots landed on him (unless you like neck or side of the helmet shots), he landed some decent shows throughout the whole bout on Hamhuis, Am I missing something??

Posted by Jim02351 on October 12, 2014 at 02:31 AM

1st fight, easy to forget.

Posted by nait on October 12, 2014 at 08:18 AM

far too much talking. either just drop them and fight or keep playing

Posted by Westcoast_Goon on October 12, 2014 at 01:15 AM

Props to RNH for being willing to drop the mitts and actually holding his own...but Hamhuis lands a few good ones to get the W.

Posted by kkdowning on October 12, 2014 at 11:03 AM

Good on RNH for standing up for himself, he did better than I thought he would have. But the Bigger Hamhuis takes the win

Posted by paulnutz on October 12, 2014 at 01:21 AM

good to see two rare fighters throw down if only for a minute. Edge to Hamhuis, good work.

Posted by Great Murray on October 12, 2014 at 09:52 AM

The only good fight last night. Hamhuis makes a great hit and then puts the exclamation point on it by pounding Nugent-Hopkins down.

Posted by alanster on October 12, 2014 at 01:18 AM

Good visor-punching fight

Posted by Hubbsly on October 12, 2014 at 12:55 AM

Awful lot of non-fighters going at it to begin the season. Most of them have been incredibly bad, but good for them nonetheless.

Posted by Unbeatn on October 12, 2014 at 02:55 PM

I don't know why so many people have Hamhuis winning. He got the takedown yes bug Nuge landed almost twice as many punches. If he didn't win then it's a close draw.

Posted by King of Goons on October 12, 2014 at 12:41 PM

Take your visors off, girls. Don't even bother to fight if you wear a visor. Take it off or don't drop the gloves.

Posted by claire alexande on October 15, 2014 at 03:32 PM

Hamhuis has obviously been hanging around Bitchka too much. Big difference is that Kebby usually wins his spot-picking exercises. Edge to Nuge for sticking up for himself against a guy who has become a real d-bag since going to Vancouver. Something in the water?

Posted by Dross_jr on October 12, 2014 at 05:17 AM

Nuge impresses in his first NHL fight. Hamhui controlled the fight but hit helmet on most of his punches. Nuge landed the best shot at the end. I give it a draw

Posted by gpembert on October 12, 2014 at 04:48 PM

Nod to Nuge in a close fight

Posted by X816 on October 14, 2014 at 05:45 PM

I gave it to Nugent-Hopkins. He definitely hit Hamhuis more than Hamhuis hit him...it only ended because Hammy wrestled him to the ice. He showed way more heart thanHamhuis did... So, the kitten fight goes to the Nuge
