There was more action in the argument between Torts and the ref then there was in the "fight" itself

Posted by vido on January 14, 2014 at 02:18 AM

Nolan knew Tito was coming after his bitch cheap shot, so why not man up? Visor too foggy? Tito filling his role better and better every game!

Posted by kkdowning on January 14, 2014 at 10:13 AM

LOL. Sestito goes for some old school retribution -- which of course is not OK in Mr. Bettman's NHL.

Posted by von_swine on January 14, 2014 at 04:35 AM

coach said 'no', and Sestito said 'I dont care'.. y'all can gripe about Nolan going armadillo, but if you cant tell he was told by coach to NOT fight yet then there's nothin I can say to 'clear the fog'... it's nice to have the 'Smythe' back,..these dudes will mix it up again, and hopefully we'll get another playoff matchup..but please, Canuck fans,..enuff w/the cheapshot whining,..your team manned up, went after a few players, and lost the game. next time maybe they'll WIN the game.. draw,.. w/Sestito needing to be waay more effective if he's going to get tossed for mugging. NO way someone like Berube, Dave Brown, Odjick, wouldn't have made Nolan a bloody mess if they were the ones proving the point.

Posted by Massive Coiler on January 14, 2014 at 12:26 AM

Even though Nolan should have dropped the gloves, in hindsight, it was a very poor choice for Sestito to instigate that.

Posted by claire alexande on January 14, 2014 at 01:42 AM

Sestito gets the most decisive win of his career against a guy who didn't drop the gloves. Very impressive. Lucky for him LA's power play is about as effective as Tostito's punches.

Posted by kingscupwinner on January 15, 2014 at 12:54 AM

First, Nolan didn't "charge" Sedin. He glided in. Boarding penalty? perhaps. But Sestito goes out to prove to Nolan that he's not gonna take it. Good for him. And good for Nolan to get the Canucks upset over him NOT fighting and subsequently 27 minutes worth of penalties for Sestito. Now, let's move on to the Dale Weiss slew foot on Drew Doughty. Is that called for, Canucks fans? That's the dirtiest cheap shot in hockey aside from a blind side sucker punch and could do a heck iof a lot more damage, possibly end someone's career. I hope Weiss gets a call from Shanahan. If not, he's a marked man the next time the Canucks and Kings meet. He'll probably beg Torts to bench him for that game.

Posted by King of Goons on January 14, 2014 at 10:45 PM

I'm giving Sestito the LOSS here, ...just because he's Sestito and he's a complete imbecile. He accomplished nothing here and basically made a fool out of himself. The guy is an absolute laughingstock who probably wouldn't dress for the Charlestown Chiefs.

Posted by reflex604 on January 14, 2014 at 12:05 AM

Nolan turtles like a girl would.

Posted by Shoeman72 on January 14, 2014 at 10:36 AM

Nolan is a pussy. Wouldn't drop with anyone last night. Good on Sestito for feeding that clown after running Hank. Pure domination TS

Posted by brownie21 on January 14, 2014 at 01:23 PM

Thats not a fight, thats an attack. Again, typical Canucks BS

Posted by sedinfan on January 14, 2014 at 01:39 AM

Well i do agree that Nolan should have dropped them, i can't give Sestio a win for a non fight, even though i am a Canuck fan. Draw and a one.

Posted by Humper on January 14, 2014 at 09:22 AM

If I was voting on who was the bigger turd in this instance (Sestito for being Sestito, or Nolan for being Nolan) it would be a draw.

Posted by Joe Rock on January 14, 2014 at 07:47 PM

Speaking as someone who can't stand the Canucks, sad to see Nolan pulling a Brooks Orpik. Is this what hockey has come to? W Sestito just for Jordan pulling a bitch move and turtling. Always loved Nolan but lost a ton of respect for him here.

Posted by loneranger on January 14, 2014 at 10:36 AM

Sestito doing what needed to be done with no hesitation. Someone said it was a foolish penalty for him to take - Torts sent him out there to do it. Good for the Canucks and Sestito. Nolan is a scumbag

Posted by cbroom on January 14, 2014 at 11:12 AM

Gotta say, Nolan looked real bad there. Runs a star player and then won't answer the bell. Hell, it's not like Nolan is a Steve Moore. When Nolan wants, he can fight so this just looks plain bad for him. Not really a fight but Nolan gets a BIG THUMBS DOWN for this one. Regardless what his coach 'supposedly' told him to do, or not to do....

Posted by czervy on January 14, 2014 at 05:39 AM

I wish there were more of this type of stuff in the league today. You throw a hit like that, it shouldn't matter if you want to drop the gloves. Sestito should have just kept punching him. The cheap-shot/borderline players are obviously not dissuaded by fines and suspensions. They are all cowards and are used to turtling when called out by the opposition. Maybe if the opposition didn't stop punching, these guys would learn there's no escaping the consequences of their actions.

Posted by growsales1 on January 15, 2014 at 04:58 PM

Nolan throws his weight around all over the ice taking liberties on skill players and then pulls his skirt up when Sestito challenges him... what a shock. ..

Posted by sokerdelic on January 14, 2014 at 08:40 AM

Nolan suckered Sestito in.... I just lost respect for Nolan.

Posted by Ed_Norton on January 14, 2014 at 12:24 PM

Sestito is usually a punching bag. Don't get to see many LA games but this is the second time I've seen Nolan pull this after a hit on a top player.

Posted by smichaels10 on January 14, 2014 at 12:42 PM

"It was Tom Sestito...what am I kidding myself here?" haha

Posted by slavv on January 14, 2014 at 08:39 PM

I'm actually good with this mauling because Nolan needs to be taught that if he wants to pull cheap runs at guys with intent to injure then he can pay the consequences....

Posted by AZfromNJ on January 29, 2014 at 12:45 PM

NHL's dirtiest player with the usual attempting cheap shot and then doesn't answer the bell. Typical.

Posted by Larry Lanning on January 14, 2014 at 12:52 PM

Was at the game. It was obvious the Canuckleheads game plan was to try to intimidate the Kings If the kings power play wasn't crap, they would have buried them. They still won 1-0. Tostitos a clear winner in the one sided fight. Nolan had a fight with Tostitos earlier this year. Not sure why Nolan turtled. I guess he was more interested in getting his team a significant power play which they wasted

Posted by nhlofficialsblo on January 15, 2014 at 05:15 PM

And some wonder how the Yankees took the land so easy...

Posted by FaxCap on January 14, 2014 at 11:19 AM

Nolan runs Sedin and for once the Canucks won't let that happen without a response. If the refs had made the call on Nolan this whole game would have been much quieter. This fight is a perfect example why so many hockey people hate the instigator rule.

Posted by BooSanta on January 14, 2014 at 09:37 PM

The stupid 27 club, Sestito joins former teammate The Zac Attack Rinaldo for jumping an agitator. Maybe they made a pact to start this club up in the off season.

Posted by staceyb on January 14, 2014 at 05:22 AM

Sestito beats up Nolan's stick in retribution for the near-hit on King Henrik. Tort's "Bullsh*t!" comment to the ref said it all.

Posted by rocky 1 on January 14, 2014 at 02:26 AM

Fight what fight!Sestito raped him for god sakes.Secondly Nolan should have fought and it was cowardly of him to keep his gloves on.Give it to Sestito!

Posted by bigmike53 on January 14, 2014 at 02:08 AM

Tostito goes bananas and gets loads of penalties. Nolan will usually throw down so I don't know what happened here. Win for Tostito!

Posted by FotiuNystrom on January 14, 2014 at 06:01 PM

Nolan Runs a guy then punks out --NyR miss Torts

Posted by Great Murray on January 15, 2014 at 10:13 AM

Holland!!! Were you watching!!!! Nolan runs a euro-weenie superstar and Sestito steps right up to make sure Nolan and the rest of the Kings know that won't fly. Good job by Sestito, no matter about the penalties. Teams that are allowing this crap are losing a lot of players to the IR list...None more than the Wings. Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Helm have all gone down to very aggressive hits by opponents. Nothing wrong with the opponents play...everything wrong with the lack of response by the rest of the team. Abdulkader got knocked out by a cheap shot and not one Wing even spoke to Derek Engelland. I promise you that if you talked to the Wings players away from Babcock/Holland they would tell you that they wish they had a tough guy at their backs.

Posted by Irish Up on January 14, 2014 at 05:41 PM

I can read lips Sestito: don't you ever hit a lady (sedin) like that again!!!!!

Posted by DARCY T on January 15, 2014 at 11:41 AM

i have to call this a draw but nolan's reputation dropped in my eyes

Posted by mrunohoo on January 14, 2014 at 02:17 PM

That Archibald….goonig it up from the bench….

Posted by shuckthefarks on January 16, 2014 at 09:53 AM

Sestito like the rest of the Canucks lacks any integrity whatsoever. This is the reason they crumble in the playoffs every year. The Canucks are nothing but rubbish. While I'm taking Canuck jabs....nice game against the Ducks!

Posted by Luvdafights on January 15, 2014 at 06:33 AM

There is no fight here? Sucks for Sestito as he gets a 5 min maj as Nolan doesn't drop the gloves.

Posted by 87CROSBY87 on January 14, 2014 at 04:45 PM

Since there was NO fight; how is anyone labellng anyone the winner? Only choice wr have as voters is a DRAW -CRAP FIGHT-HORRIBLE-HORRIBLE

Posted by TBLabrie on January 14, 2014 at 06:03 PM

Holyyyyyy.... the announces for the Canucks.. my god.... you guys are either living in a far away land with different rules or have snorted some magic fairy dust. Let me be clear, he instigated and proceeded to attack a player who didn't want (nor have) to fight... THIS IS A GAME MISCONDUCT AND PROBABLY A SUSPENSION. Then they have the gull to accused the missed check for charging, again, my god. Never broadcast again, get your rule book and sit in your house and read it... forever.... As for the fight, nothing fight draw

Posted by doobi1 on January 15, 2014 at 05:59 PM

unbelievable, Sestito has won a fight??? Trouble is, the only ones he'll ever win are the ones where the other guy doesn't want to fight. What A royal A!

Posted by mrenn on January 14, 2014 at 12:09 PM

To bad the power play sucks, cause I would have loved to rack 2 or 3 for this.I was at the game and all I can say is Vancouver made it clear they were going after brown. The cheapshots were coming from Vancouver a hell of alot more than the kings.Refs were handing out misconducts faster than the concessions were handing out beers.4-0 against the nucks.Dont get *utt hurt nucks fans.

Posted by Hawzy on January 14, 2014 at 03:02 PM

Im not sure how one guy punching another guy who is turtleing qualifies as a fight? or how they come up with 27 minutes in penalties?? That "fight" was awful and shouldn't even have made this site. i would have gave Sestito 2 for roughing and a 10 min misconduct. Nolan got nothing, I feel that was the correct call. NHL is getting soft.

Posted by EK65 on January 14, 2014 at 02:54 PM

One second of icetime 27 pims.. The "fight" itself win Sestito for being the only combatant in this Matt Carkner on Brian Boyle like display.

Posted by IMPEACH on January 17, 2014 at 08:43 AM

First fight Sestito's won this year.

Posted by Sasky001 on January 14, 2014 at 08:38 AM

If Setito plans to be a goon for the next few years he needs to learn how to dish out some pain. And stop standing up for the Sedin.

Posted by ironbar44 on January 14, 2014 at 12:55 PM

not a fight just a mugging

Posted by nait on January 14, 2014 at 07:32 PM

in a strictly fight vote Sestito won but in a real world he lost. Nolan in not one to shy away from a fight so when he does its not time. Push him shove him around and get him to drop not what Sestito did

Posted by reryp on January 14, 2014 at 11:58 AM

Good for Sestito but how do you get a winner in a non fight, and who voted for Nolan?

Posted by jeffersonlee on January 14, 2014 at 12:24 PM

Nolan is a turtle.

Posted by hockeyonly on January 15, 2014 at 09:37 AM

Forget the fight i"d love to see someone knock that smirk of tortarella's face, & that's not cause of anything related to the canuck's. He's the most overrated, arrogant douche since "grapes". Of course he's not as bad as that announcer jackoff edwards!!!

Posted by tyrone on January 14, 2014 at 12:21 AM

Nolan you pu$$y. Crappie excessive penelties. I love this Tostito dude. Theo Rex.........take you wiener out of Nolans Bunghole.

Posted by GSP09 on January 15, 2014 at 11:54 PM

Win for Nolan for being the smarter and giving his team a 7 minutes powerplay , Sestito is to dumb to realise what was happening and was tricked pretty bad. lol

Posted by keithwarf on January 14, 2014 at 12:58 AM

Nice job trying to mug Nolan, but he didn't want to fight... Have fun sitting the rest of the game for a bonehead move.

Posted by gogrg on January 16, 2014 at 10:01 AM

Nolan should have dropped, if he was a superstar i could understand, but he is known to fight, but sesitiot should have kept his head

Posted by LAK1ngsFTW on January 15, 2014 at 02:08 AM

Tostito is just DUMB, DUMB, DUMB!!! Hope Torts takes him to the KHL after he gets fired for not making the playoffs.

Posted by SouthPaw017 on January 16, 2014 at 12:32 AM

I don't know what to say or vote here.... Betrayed, bewildered, mass hysteria, dogs and cats living together.... Regardless of Tostito's actions, Nolan should have dropped his gloves and defended himself on principle alone!!! The Bud Life nails it, Nolan pulling an Orpik, like he has the same glass chin.

Posted by Mounty in NC on January 14, 2014 at 06:16 PM

Sestito...the B!tch that he is. He'll get his in the next game and I can't wait.

Posted by kitcarnut on January 14, 2014 at 08:53 PM

Sestito doing his job, dumb injun chickens out like a coward he is.

Posted by Amerkfan8 on January 14, 2014 at 06:30 PM

Nolan's a big guy who fights pretty regularly. He's gotta man up here. What a pussy move!!

Posted by maaddmike on January 18, 2014 at 09:04 AM

How does Nolan get over 10% votes as the fight winner when he doesn't even drop his gloves?

Posted by thebigbea55 on January 14, 2014 at 01:40 AM

what a turtle.. seems like they were gonna fight off the draw but he chicken out... then nolan acted tough the rest of the game

Posted by Bloodbank on January 18, 2014 at 09:57 AM

Let's be honest here, there was no fight. Sestito was just checking Nolan for an expired man-card....

Posted by Jfkilgore on January 14, 2014 at 08:26 PM

Typical punk move by a punk player on the biggest punk team. Is Vancouver worth the effort. Is wine the biggest export from Canada??

Posted by MICHYS on January 14, 2014 at 05:25 AM

The same stuff like Scott Thornton and Orpic... It could end up much worse for Nolan and with another silly suspendation for Sesito if he hurt him. I had Nolan in my NHL 14 team, he is not longer there!

Posted by ts15210 on January 14, 2014 at 11:54 AM

This is much like Shawn Thornton on Brooks Orpik- an unwilling combatant after a questionable hit. Sesito should be suspended, the code does not apply to unwilling combatants, Sesito is a punk.

Posted by fernben8 on January 15, 2014 at 08:30 AM

You can look at this from many angles... I have no doubt Nolan would have held his own against Sestito ( probably on the losing end ), Long story short...smart move by Nolan for taking one for the team.

Posted by TheodoreRex on January 14, 2014 at 12:12 AM

Sestito earned so much by his bout with McGrattan. instantly loses it all by jumping Nolan. the sad part was Nolan seemed unfazed from the defensless blows.

Posted by OlKoot on January 14, 2014 at 12:20 AM

Nolan is a dirty cheap shot artist and a world class coward. Lose the visor if you want to be the kind of dirty player this loser is. I got no respect for this guy at all. Good on Sestito.

Posted by riffraff on January 14, 2014 at 01:22 AM

run a swede. turtle on next shift. the nolan code. obviously another bitch move by the visor wearing cheap shot pillow biter. but man up? noooooo not this guy.

Posted by slarrivee11 on January 14, 2014 at 02:11 PM

Nolan figured it would be a better fight if he stood still and didn't fight back. Sestito couldn't beat up a punching bag. Finally a fight the Canucks fans can be proud of.

Posted by Elegance on January 14, 2014 at 11:45 AM

That one announcer is a complete douche bag. Someone doesn't want to fight, they do not have to. Nolan being a tough guy, i am surprised he didn't go. Either way, these assaults have got to get out of the game. I get that people want players to fight, but these assaults gotta go. If you like and try to defend these kinds of actions, then don't play the old school hockey line, cause that's just horse shit. I will say this, at some point, you got to defend yourself, regardless of who you are. The instigator should be used in these situations, and less in other situations, but perhaps carry a heftier penalty. Either way, disqualification to Sestito for jumping a guy with the gloves off, there is no real winner, only two losers.

Posted by mjb_17 on January 15, 2014 at 11:57 AM

Tell me why Nolan needs to drop the gloves??? There was absolutely nothing wrong with his attempted hit on one of the sisters. If Sedin was able to take a hit instead of turning away it would have been a nothing play. Canucks, their fans and announcers SUCK!!

Posted by nuckles88 on January 14, 2014 at 03:07 AM

Somebody go to Buffalo and give Ted Nolan a vasectomy cuz we don't want anymore of his spawn ruining the earth. Love Sestito standing up for his captain, Jordan should be ashamed of himself

Posted by EdNo on January 14, 2014 at 05:56 PM

"Why would they throw Sestito out for this..." IS THIS IDIOT SERIOUS??! Shawn Thornton got a multiple GAME suspension for less of a mugging... There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING worthwhile in the Vancouver Canucks organ I zation, even the useless-tool announcers who make Jack Edwards look impartial...

Posted by Hockeyguy25 on January 14, 2014 at 12:09 AM

Wow ...man card needed in La

Posted by ginoi on January 14, 2014 at 01:46 AM

Dont know why Nolan didn't man-up. Sestito is the worst fighter in the league. He's garbage. Did what he had to though, but he is probably lucky Nolan didn't drop em.

Posted by Hilaker on January 14, 2014 at 09:24 AM

What gives with the LA-LA boys. First Nolan turtles then Brown hides. Must be the wrong time of the month for all the LA girlies. Man up or move to Detroit. Win Sestito.

Posted by Beaton on January 15, 2014 at 12:19 AM

You guys say some real dumb sh-t. Do any of you read before u submit? Example. Sestito is the worst fighter the league. Really? Or the NHL should get this stuff outve the NHL. Blah fucking blah. My point. This "stuff" will be gone sooner then you guys think. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Posted by alanster on January 14, 2014 at 01:30 AM

Nolan should have been thrown out for attempt to injure on the earlier play. Refs weren't paying attention. So he deserved retribution and then turtled. Clear win by Sestito and worth every minute of the 7 minute power play.

Posted by eshman on January 14, 2014 at 12:24 AM

Nolan sucks cock
