Looks like I'm not the only one who was caught off-guard by Rosehill's newfound ability to throw effectively from the southpaw stance Nice "sorry tap" on the accidental head-butt by Asham despite the surprising and fairly one- sided loss

Posted by ETR on April 16, 2013 at 10:34 PM

Asham can't handle southpaws apparently...

Posted by King of Goons on April 16, 2013 at 11:11 PM

Two tough guys, but Rosehill completely manhandles Asham and tosses him around like a rag doll. I don't think I've ever seen Asham get bullied and OWNED quite like this before. Rosehill literally picked Asham up off the ice twice just so he could punch him some more. Asham got hit with so many lefts he was probably praying for a right. Good job by Asham just to stay alive in this one, ...but total domination by Rosebud.

tough SEASON for ASHAM .

Posted by KO22 on April 16, 2013 at 11:05 PM

Rosehill does his job well here, Win Jay Rosehill.

Posted by theSDauncey on April 16, 2013 at 09:37 PM

Great fight. Rosehill with the win and he is actually providing a good presence for the flyers.

Posted by BlackhawkRick on April 16, 2013 at 09:41 PM

The Rosehill machine gun left's dominated this one, an okay scrap overall though. Rosehill hit Asham with so many lefts that Asham begged him for a right. But instead ate more lefts and liked it.

Rosehill with the beat down on Asham!

Posted by plubber on April 19, 2013 at 05:03 AM

Asham got punched out, big time. Too bad it wasn't Sather taking those shots. He deserves a spanking more than any of his sad-sack players.

All Rosehill in this one. Rosehill actually picked Asham up twice so he could hit him again! All hockey fans everywhere stand in support of the people of Boston.

Posted by Hans314 on April 17, 2013 at 06:03 PM

Rosehill unloads

Posted by Kordic64 on April 17, 2013 at 02:00 AM

Rosehill controlled and hit Asham with a couple good shots. Several by both not even connecting. Win Rosehill. Entertaining scrap tho.

Posted by hoolly.doolly on April 18, 2013 at 01:40 PM

Rosehill rely's on those leftys a lot. Looking good this year tho, too bad he wasn't able to get a full season in.

Posted by Fisticuffs101 on April 16, 2013 at 09:45 PM

Is it me or are the announcers seriously kissing Rangers ass? "Asham snuck in that first hard straight right" yea sure jus ignore the fury of lefts coming from Rosehill, I guess all you could say about that was "Rosehill stood in there". Fucking NBC

Posted by endor on April 19, 2013 at 09:50 PM

Rose bud kicks ASS-ham. 2 tough guys but Rose bud blooms!!

Posted by 33Oliwa on April 17, 2013 at 12:51 AM

Rosehill's left stunned him and Asham never got it together

Posted by raggraphx on April 17, 2013 at 10:07 PM

Asham opens with a square shot to the face bone...gives rosie a nice boo boo on the cheek. However, Rosie takes over from there and tosses Asham around like a ragdoll after that with the height and reach advantage, but most of Rosies shots were to the helmet....not as much of a domination as some have described but a spirited bout on both fighters part....good tilt. Win to Rosie

Posted by laus3 on April 17, 2013 at 03:03 PM

Asham, stop acting like your hand hurts so much when it was you the one punching his hand with your face!

Posted by bajo39 on April 17, 2013 at 10:36 AM

That was a beauty! Gotta admire Asham for fighting up. More importantly, Rosehill is starting to impress. Never thought much of him as a Leaf but he obviously developed well as Orr's apprentice, dispatching his mentor in quick work (in a fight you have to watch in slow mo to appreciate) and now dominating a fighter he needed to dominate.

Posted by mikebflorida on April 17, 2013 at 11:14 AM

Asham put up a tussle but Rosehill was way too much for him.

Posted by bhamill on April 17, 2013 at 11:37 AM

This was a good fight. Surprised Asham did as well as he did against a much bigger guy. Got that first good shot in that'll have Jay walking around with a shiner for a few days, but then Rosehill took over. Easily got the best of the fight though Asham kept throwing as well. For the record, Asham got up twice, Rosehill didn't pick him back up, Jay's not lifting 190 pounds of dead weight with one hand leaning over on skates, get real. Also the headbutt was accidental and it seemed like Rosie accepted Asham's apology. I would have liked to see Rosehill go after a fellow heavyweight like Clowe rather than a MW like Asham, but it was an entertaining go so I can't really complain. All in all, not exactly close but certainly not a domination as he couldn't put Asham away. Good job by both.

Posted by srehm1 on April 16, 2013 at 10:14 PM

Asham with the good shot as they came together. Then Rosehill took over. Good fight. Asham was game but Rosehill takes this one.

Posted by hughcares on April 16, 2013 at 10:15 PM

Rosehill wears Asham right out - that wasn't even close.

Posted by rowbearprobear on April 16, 2013 at 10:40 PM

Cheap head butt by AA after getting his ass handed to him by Rosie. 6 and all Rosie.

Posted by slavv on April 17, 2013 at 02:41 PM

Asham got the first shot then faced a barrage from Rosehill , who dominated despite Asham's efforts to keep it going....

Posted by jnk07899 on April 17, 2013 at 10:38 AM

When I intially saw Rosehill line up ready to fight as a righty, I was surprised. He switched it up right before they locked up, and it almost bit him in the butt, with Asham landing that right that is going to make it hard for Rosehill to chew for the next few weeks. However, Rosey responded and controlled the fight mightily, and ended up with the win. Rosey is much larger that Asham and i respect Arron for going up against the much bigger combatant.

Posted by fernben8 on April 17, 2013 at 07:00 AM

Announcers talking about Asham's first right but it was more like Rosehill's first left that rattled Asham and he couldn't recover from it Rosehill decoys going righty at the start and surprised Asham fell for it...(gotta do your homework Arron).

Posted by sedinfan on April 17, 2013 at 09:42 PM

Asham out of his weight class for sure.

Posted by GreatMurray on April 17, 2013 at 09:57 AM

Philly needed Rosehill at the beginning of the season. Asham is a tough guy but Rosehill is too. Easy win for Rosehill.

Posted by fentonhardy on April 17, 2013 at 12:32 PM

Not sure what fight the announcers were watching. They seemed to be fascinated by the one punch that Asham got in before Rosehill absolutely anihliated him. Didn't see the game, but sounded like the buffoons from NBC.

Posted by HchVegasNHL57 on April 17, 2013 at 09:21 AM

Asham landed a good one on the way in. After that Rosie 'goes rechlicz' on him and gets the dub. Good tilt.

Posted by peteybrown on April 16, 2013 at 10:33 PM

Rosie wins.

Posted by AC1026 on April 16, 2013 at 11:20 PM

Rosehill must have an Iron jaw...1st shot was a knockout blow from Asham. He stood in there, and , just pounded him...Win Rosey...and a 7

Posted by Sixteendog16 on April 17, 2013 at 10:43 PM

AA landed first but ducked and covered the rest of the way

Posted by Pug Face on April 16, 2013 at 11:03 PM

All Rosehill....

Posted by Diablo69 on April 17, 2013 at 05:17 PM

First punch to AA then Rosehill unleash with a furies of left... Good scrap, win RoseH.

Posted by delchief on April 17, 2013 at 12:41 PM

Heavy vs. light heavy. Heads down and constant throwing. I'm exhausted watching that. Rosehill wins with more damaging blows. Honorable mention to Asham's "apology" for accidentally helmet-butting his opponent.

Posted by lfc2004 on April 17, 2013 at 01:51 PM

I had been anxiously awaiting Ash's return and our ability to finally address his actions n the playoffs last season. Running Schenn was a disgrace and no self-respecting tough guy engages in that garbage. You got your polar bear sized head beat in which you richly deserved and I was at the game screaming for more you joke.

Posted by mckendo83 on April 18, 2013 at 08:40 AM

jay Rosehill handles karen the fat eskimo

Posted by DARCY T on April 20, 2013 at 04:46 AM

i love to see rosehill back in nhl.he is a tough guy to fight...clear win rosehill in a great fight...and 8

Posted by demonhead6 on April 17, 2013 at 12:19 PM

Rosehill definitely won. But Asham's first shot did score. Watched the game and you could see the abrasion and shiner/mouse forming while Rosehill was in the penalty box.

Posted by cecil127 on April 16, 2013 at 10:02 PM

great showing by the ex-flyer but i gotta give the nod to rosehill. he eats one then opens a can of whoop ass on asham. love to see a good "knuckle chucker" like this one... bloody hands and ice bags for both afterwards. only way it wouldve been better is if they took their helmets off.

Posted by hokaheyhockey on April 16, 2013 at 10:50 PM

Rosehill is 4 inches taller and 7 years younger than Ash. Both men gave it their best, strategic, fast, hard, and a lot of connects. Ash had a great opening blow, but Rosehill brought Ash down twice. That said, Ash definitely has tenacity. He may have lost this one, but how many guys can last as long as he does? And, man, I've never seen Ash shake his hand in pain like he did after this fight was done. Rosie got a beauty mark as a memento. As to Pierre's commentary, he's got to make up for giving Ash the shaft one year ago when he cross checked Braydon Schenn when Schenn had charged his teammate. If Schenn really had gotten checked in the throat as Pinhead had reported, you would have had one dead flyer.

Posted by 777Big on April 16, 2013 at 09:41 PM

Pretty good "go". Rosehill with a great first strike and never gives up control.

Posted by Jdaman75 on April 17, 2013 at 08:33 AM

Win Rosehill as he dominates the long haired middleweight.

Posted by flipadelphia on May 08, 2013 at 02:44 PM

ALL rosehill looks like we may have FINALLY gotten a real fighter since cote left maybe rinaldo can keep to what he does best laying the hits and taking on middleweights

Posted by nait on April 17, 2013 at 11:12 AM

I always loved Asham's fights

Posted by BigBird on April 17, 2013 at 08:41 PM

Rosehill's a douche who's managed 79 NHL games in 11 years of pro hockey, almost all of those with the Leafs who never made the playoffs during that time. Anyone notice he has 5 inches on Asham? The chickens***. Asham's got balls. And he's played 840 games in the NHL, and fought 101 times. Last game against Montreal Rosehill tried to start a fight with Max Pacioretty who has 1 fight a year and a concussion history.

Posted by Mounty in NC on April 18, 2013 at 09:35 AM

I'm giving it a draw...Asham got the first big punch, harder than anything Rosehill threw, then they exchanged several non lethal punches. Asham went down twice but that had nothing to do with with Rosehill did

Posted by TrueBlue26 on April 18, 2013 at 11:30 AM

Asham is out of his prime.

Posted by illukka on April 17, 2013 at 01:30 AM

rosehill looks good, not sure if all landed but there sure is a lot of fists thrown.. enough to get a win IMO. apart from 1st puch asham gets nothing going

Posted by Snoka on April 16, 2013 at 11:06 PM

Total domination by Rosehill

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on April 16, 2013 at 10:38 PM

Rosehill took care of Asham easily.

Posted by katdaddy141 on April 16, 2013 at 10:02 PM

WOW! Double A get whoooped. Announcer says Asham got the first punch butit was Rosehills first that set the tone and Asham never recovered. Asham went down got up and Rosebud gave him some more. Im an Asham fan but he got dusted

Posted by Phila26Flyers on April 17, 2013 at 09:18 AM

I have a ton of respect for Asham and wish he was still in O&B. Truly a fearless fighter. Rosehill gets an expected win, though. Great to see a true HW playing regularly in Philly.

Posted by blackngold on April 17, 2013 at 04:41 PM

Lots of missed punches in this one. Rosehill still takes it narrowly, but it was a lot closer in reality than what it initially looked like.

Posted by Tex55 on April 19, 2013 at 05:34 PM

Asham gets in the 1st punch, but it's downhill for him from there.

Posted by Oil Can Henry on April 17, 2013 at 04:46 PM

...that's the best I've seen Rosehill look -- he was really bangin' Asham around,...

Posted by bobowen34 on April 19, 2013 at 05:13 PM

It is never a bad thing when Asham gets beat up.

Posted by kkdowning on April 17, 2013 at 12:10 AM

I thought the video was sped up, there were a lot of punches thrown. Win Rosehill

Posted by forbull on April 16, 2013 at 11:02 PM

Love seeing Asham's head snapping back like a PEZ Dispenser!

Posted by SouthPaw017 on April 17, 2013 at 02:43 AM

Rosehill goes crazy southpaw on Asham, who can't answer.... Special thanks to all those who took the time to message me, or other Bruins fans, and express their thoughts and sympathy for the innocent people in Boston that were injured... The hockey community has a lot of class, and you all showed it... As one radio announcer put it, "You may shake us, but you'll never break us..."

Posted by tomnuetten on April 17, 2013 at 12:03 PM

entertaining bout lots of punches thrown, rosehill connected with some good ones and took the clear win

Posted by dwaters420 on April 17, 2013 at 03:55 AM

Rosehill smoked 'eem.

Posted by samtheman on April 16, 2013 at 10:02 PM

Rosehill wins this one easily to my surprise. Asham is as tough as they come but couldn't stop the flurry of lefts whenever he tried to throw.

Posted by Leafs2006 on April 16, 2013 at 09:54 PM

The caveman rosehill wins another one, slight edge in size here, but Asham is a "has been" anyway

Posted by Ed Van Impe on April 17, 2013 at 08:51 AM

really good scrap but i'd like to see Pee Pee Laviolette and John TURDarella go at it ...

Posted by shawnrocks on April 16, 2013 at 09:51 PM

Great fight.not much landed asham with the harder landed

Posted by mr hockey on April 16, 2013 at 10:05 PM

wow you homers from NY give the win or draw to Asham? wtf are you smoking ,that's an easy no doubt win from Rosehill. good cheap head butt from asham at the end should be suspended for that one.

Posted by jcholmes on April 17, 2013 at 08:48 AM

A Flyer beating on a Ranger, thankfully some things never change.

Posted by Plateworker on April 18, 2013 at 04:50 PM

The best shot was the Asham straight right that pops Rosehill in the face...then it was all downhill from there as Rosehill takes over and feeds Asham a bunch of lefts that knock him to the ice. Win Rosey

Posted by QUIGGS22 on April 17, 2013 at 06:55 AM

All Rosehill

Posted by staceyb on April 17, 2013 at 05:46 AM

Except for the first shot Rosey controlled the flow of the fight. Plus he got the #3 star of the game so the fight was a momentum changer, which is why they are supposed to fight.
