It's funny how people always want to line up to say the Flyers are dirty, blah, blah, blah. If you saw this game (or any other Penguins game) you see Crosby constantly slashing guys and running his yap (when he's not punching people in the balls from behind). He gets bumped by Schenn, and in his typical way he falls like he's been shot, and rather to look to see who hit him like a real man would, he looks to see if there's gonna be call.
The Pens are the classless aggressors here, as anyone who watches the clip can see Asham punching guys being held by his teammates, and Engelland throwing his first two punches at Simmonds from behind. Gave Engelland the win for what he did in the fight, but he doesn't gain any points for attacking from behind a guy twenty pounds lighter with half his face stitched up.
Should be a fun first round series.

PS-... and for the record, natedawg, i didn't say vitale's hit was classless, i didn't comment on it at all because i had no problem with it. stop reading what you want instead of what i wrote.

If you put your hand over the top half of the video you'll see Engelland buckle Simmonds's knees. Overshadowed by the sideshow, though.

I was excited to see Engelland v Simmonds on the list but after clicking on it I'm sure this will draw out many vapid internet arguments where homers will call the other team "classless" (because "classless" is the new c-word and all) and that gets old quickly.

In short, win for Engelland and it's everybody's fault. Next!

Engelland with the win here but the Highlight of the Video was Kubina Taking the Jake "the Snake" Roberts Signature DDT!!

This fight was not close! Engelland treated Simmonds like a rag doll after he caught him with a big right hand. Simmonds pretty much held on for dear life after that. All Simmonds did was try n lock up Engelland's arms so he couldn't swing anymore. Wayne Simmonds is a tough dude but he is no match for Deryk Engelland! I hope these two square off again Saturday or in the playoffs and you'll see Engelland lay the smack down again! As far as size goes, Simmonds is bigger than Engelland buddy and he flat out got beat! Simmonds is 6' 2" 210 and Engelland is 6' 2" 202 and boo hoo Simmonds face was stitched up...if that was such a problem then maybe he shouldn't drop the gloves in the first place.

Good solid hit by Vitale and chaos errupts... DE gets an easy win and the Flyers coach is dumb getting mad about which line is out on the ice its hockey so you think the Pens just going to roll over then you shouldn't be coaching it's playoff time and a message was sent .... i look forward to seeing the game next week.

The problem with this situation is that there's one minute left in the game, the score is out of hand, with Philly leading by three, and Pittsburgh throws out their goons. Pittsburgh was looking to instigate in this situation. Still, the hit was clean. Why does Philly even need to go after Vitale for a clean hit? Philly took the bait and lost the fight. And Pittsburgh's plan ultimately was a rousing success.

Philly wins the game. Pittsburgh wins everything else, including the psychological battle.

Cindy Crysby after slashing the Flyers about 5 times and getting away with it gets karma. Brayden Schenn crosschecks him to the ice. He probably felt better after the game when NBC and the refs lined up to give him bjs. I do not own this video, the NHL and NBC do.

Engelland absolutely school Simmonds in a one sided tilt; while Asham sends a much deserved message and lesson to Schenn...

How are the Pens the "classless aggressors"? A clean hit and solid hit by Joe Vitale makes him classless? Did you even watch the video? And for the record Simmonds tried to jump Niskanen..One again watch the video before you post paragraphs of bs.

Simmonds usually picks scraps with non fighters, like Chris Neil does, funny what happens when he gets tangled with a fighter, rag doll Simmonds, the useless P.O.S. And why didnt someone punch McGuire, the ass between the glass during this?

Enforcer vs 26 goal scorer. Enforcer doesn't score a decisive victory. LOL

Pengiuns are a disgrace. Pathetic display. Flyers put out players assuming the Penguins will try to score. Penguins have last change but decide to throw out goons and take runs at guys instead of try to win the game.

engelland jumps Simmonds who's a total mess from recent injuries - so for not doing the wise (but feeble) thing and turtling up to ensure he can play next game, Simmonds gets the win.

I used to be a big fan of Asham. But I guess you can't help but make a foolish spectacle of yourself when playing for a team like Pittsburgh's.

Pengiun pride!!! Losers...

I have watched hockey for 40 years and many times saw the Flyers start brawls and the end of a game they were losing. Funny to see so many tears shed by Cryers fans when they get smacked around a little bit. Funnier still when they started the brawl themselves by reacting to a clean hit.

Steak and cheese pacifiers for everyone in eastern PA!!!
