Easy win for Martin. Smith looked like he was waiting fot the money shot. Game would have been far more entertaining had Konopka, Carkner, Gilles and Haley had played. Rest of the game was Disney on Ice with Pandolfo, Reasoner, Ralston and Staois making highly realistic Dwarfs.

smith looked gassed as fight started.didnt throw a punch, martin landed one.not much of fight...draw and 4

What was Martin thinking?? Down 4 zip. Now you go looking for a fight???? Where were you when it was 2-0, and 1:35 into the game? Ottawa has a few boys that would be willing to dance, yet Martin goes for Smith when it was obvious he wanted no part of the fisticuffs. Misplaced and unprofessional move by Martin. IMO.

Boring fight, Smith didn't even throw a punch. Win Martin.

What was Smith waiting for ? If his right arm was tied up, Martin's chin was wide open for some jabs...( just saying ).

Smith was not into that fight AT ALL!

First and foremost,Islanders need to put those jerseys away forever,to the fight,Martin wins cause he's the only to throw punches, landed a couple also, usually Smith gives a better showing!!

Martin ''exposes'' the mediocrity of Smith's inconsistent, ''fighting abilities''.

The only thing the Islanders won was this fight...what a blow out. Who gave it a draw or a win for Smith...is Stevie Wonder logged on here?

I have to agree all the way with 5fourfighten..... and to thebow, instead of going after Smith what about Chris Neil he was playing and not a healthy scratched. Let's see how brave Martin is later on this week in Ottawa...... Still gave him the win though for what it's worth!

It was evident that Smith had no interest. This is one that Smith will keep in the bank in the event that he needs to spark his team. Next time Martin will have to oblige him...Pretty good takedown at the end.

Win Martin.

Would've loved to see Zach Smith get KO'd. I called this one a TKO simply because Smith knew he was going to lose and didn't even attempt to throw a punch. Why drop the gloves if your not going to throw a punch? One of the biggest douche bags in the league. All bark no bite. Goof!

MM pulverized Smitty with that one bell ringer to the skull. I dunno, maybe Smitty was gassed from his shift. He's a much better fighter than that effort. Thanks for showing us the only Islanders highlight of the afternoon.

martin gets the win.

3rd time for these two, Martin had to get something going for this lack lustre team. It may not have revived the Isles but Martin wins hands down. Not sure what it takes to get the Isles going..plain soft

win to martin

Posted by chbstr44 on February 20, 2012 at 10:04 PM

Smith just hanging on for dear life

Posted by thebow on February 20, 2012 at 05:20 PM

5forfighten - who would you have liked Martin to fight. Konopka and Carlner were scratched. Martin did what he had to do to try to spark his team. Didn't work, but give him credit for trying.

Martin cocked Smith with about 3 dandies.

Martin sucks and always will suck

frustration fight ,lucky MARTIN didnt bust a knuckle .SMITH has had no luck in the past with MARTIN should have skated away .win MARTIN for what it was worth

Big win by Martin. He threw and landed plenty of rights while Smith didn't even make an effort.

GREAT Matt Martin fight!

Posted by Nesquik on February 26, 2012 at 03:25 AM

Smith wasn't even looking at him. Weird fight.

Posted by thebigbea55 on February 21, 2012 at 03:23 AM

smith wasn't even interested in fighting.. why fight when you are up 4-0.. nothing to gain.. but was forced to fight by martin..

Posted by chad420 on February 21, 2012 at 10:04 AM

win M&M

Posted by Snoka on February 20, 2012 at 03:23 PM

Smith gets beat again, typical of Ottawa fighters.

Posted by kkdowning on February 20, 2012 at 09:37 PM

I guess Smith was interested in protecting his hands and opted for a judo match. Win Martin, nasty rights thrown there

Posted by THE LAWNMOWER on February 20, 2012 at 05:41 PM

Smith can take a punch and Martin hit him with his best and Zack did the Muhammed Ali bit - tired him out and then threw him down hard to the ice.
