Even bout throughout but if I'm the coach I'd rather have Clowe on the ice scoring goals than sitting in the box after fighting a sixth or seventh d-man like Engelland. Just checked the box score and both Engelland and Clowe scored goals while Clowe scored the SO winner. If I'm the coach I want them both to fight each other again. (-:

nhl network cut it

Posted by sirjohn3 on November 08, 2011 at 12:34 PM

Engelland started off good Clowe finished good. neither landed any powerfull punches.

Posted by koolpunch on November 04, 2011 at 11:32 PM

Can't call a winner; Engelland was more aggressive, but Clowe a few in as well...

Posted by countejacula on November 04, 2011 at 01:29 AM

Good Tilt-a-whirl. Good energy w/no clear winner.

Clowe┬░s sheer strength, and aggression, against Engelland┬░s technique, and punching power. Interesting, back and forth, draw.

Posted by hal29 on November 08, 2011 at 02:39 AM

Draw!!! Clowe is one of my favorites, but according to most Clowe shouldn't even be in the same league as Engelland but just goes to show that Engelland is the next champ as everyone thinks he is. Just because he knocked out the concussed weak chinned Orr last year. I call draw and I even feel that Clowe was stronger than Engelland here. Not the better fighter but stronger. GreatMurray really....Reality check....knock knock!!

Both of these players can fight, but I have to give it here to Deryk Engelland landing good amount of punches on Clowe in the beginning.

Posted by Kranium on November 04, 2011 at 01:40 AM

Clowe cleary bigger stronger, but Engelland had his right free early and threw often. Hard to see what landed - I'm sure at least one of the rights Engelland throw tagged Clowe, and Clowe had a beauty of an uppercut, after which Engelland stopped throwing and Clowe rag dolled him a bit. Clear Draw.

Posted by haleymonster138 on November 04, 2011 at 01:14 PM

Engelland is tough and has taken on some big opponents, but I don't think he beats Ryane Clowe here. Draw.

Posted by DarkDisciple on November 04, 2011 at 09:30 AM

I love clowe. A true power foward can score+fight. This one was even

Posted by Sev7Stud on November 04, 2011 at 08:35 AM

Engelland lost balance at first, but managed to get a obvious draw out of the tussle!

Posted by DARCY T on November 04, 2011 at 07:25 PM

very interesting match-up...i like the way clowe blocked engelland's punches at the beginning and then landed some of his own.edge clowe and 7

Posted by b.t.wilson on November 04, 2011 at 01:55 AM

Solid fight from a couple of stellar dudes. Draw, 7.

Posted by CaptainPunch on November 04, 2011 at 03:51 AM

Draw, but it is Close. Over half of Engelland's punches didn't connect and none affected Clowe. Clowe connected with the same amount of punches. Engelland had control of the fight in the beginning, then Clowe took control at the end. A clear Draw.

Posted by jp4202003 on November 04, 2011 at 02:59 PM

Draw - is the right call here.

Posted by slysi on June 01, 2016 at 02:00 PM

did Engelland kiss the zebras for jumping in and saving him from a beating ?

Posted by spiderlakeDave on June 10, 2016 at 02:11 PM

if Clowe could have just got that arm free he may have had a beat down. Close fight with not many punches landing

Posted by cuptonj on November 04, 2011 at 08:04 PM

The Pens announcers suck, the worst homers in the league babbling on during the entire fight,Win for Clowe.

Posted by angasan1 on November 04, 2011 at 06:46 PM

Jersey over head- Clowe couldve cause some ugly...

Posted by smoothlander on November 04, 2011 at 11:14 AM

Clowe beats (barely) Engelland, scores a goal, then scores the game winning goal in the shootout. Clowe is a beast but the Sharks need a real enforcer.

Posted by tocchetblue on November 04, 2011 at 08:53 AM

clowe to big and to STRONG another wimp from pgh

Posted by billy jack on November 04, 2011 at 01:10 AM

i thought clowe won a tough mean spirited bout.clowe is to good a player to also be the top cop on the beat.but that is SJ MO.

Posted by tpr1960 on November 04, 2011 at 05:31 PM

Slight edge Clowe . You can see his strength as he pulled at Engelland.

Posted by FightsOfHockey on November 04, 2011 at 12:13 AM

giving a minimal decision to Clowe

Posted by GreatMurray on November 04, 2011 at 03:31 PM

Engelland wins against a bigger guy. But Engelland is more than a match for even the best fighters in the league. Clowe got whacked hard a couple of times and saved his butt by getting Engelland's sweater up.

Posted by Double Nickels on November 06, 2011 at 03:19 AM

These are two of my top five guys, so I love to see them go. However, as a rule, I do not give wins to a guy that ends the fight with his jersey over his head...both guys land about the same number of punches, with Clowe landing a huge uppercut that stuns Engelland moments after Engelland lands a strong straight right on Clowe. How people give this to Engelland on "clean punches" I just don't see, but then I am not a boxing judge. So, the jersey over the head ends it for me, as a rule.

Posted by scorp1on on November 05, 2011 at 12:52 PM

Engelland early, nobody late. Edge Engelland.

Posted by skynyrd77 on January 13, 2012 at 10:05 PM

Clowe sucked in this fight, his face on Engelland's fist. Clowe needs to learn how to play hockey.

Posted by Em36 on November 05, 2011 at 12:15 PM

I don't think a single shot landed

Posted by badluck1377 on November 04, 2011 at 12:29 AM

Engelland landed all the damage. Clowe was just tugging and pulling.

Posted by BooSanta on November 05, 2011 at 11:16 AM

More muscle from Crowe. More knuck chucks from Engelland. I'm more partial to the chucks so i give the ever so slight edge to Engelland.

Posted by pepsigenerate on November 05, 2011 at 02:44 AM

Way to go Engelland, you should of drop him like the Orr incident,

Posted by yngblonde1 on November 04, 2011 at 09:30 AM

Deryk had his hands full with the over sized guy..He actually landed more clean punches so the win to Deryk..

Posted by rags1965 on November 04, 2011 at 07:15 AM

Win Engelland, Clowe was more interested in holding on, never wanting to open up. At the point he felt Engelland getting loose he pulled the jeresy up.

Posted by Jellyczar on November 11, 2011 at 06:31 PM

Tight fight.... but edge to Engelland becasue Clowe did the jersey pullover knowing that would bring in the linesmen and end the fight...

Posted by dogace on November 04, 2011 at 12:26 AM

engo....close,good bout

Posted by bruins rule on November 04, 2011 at 08:03 AM

deryk gets the win in this fight.

Posted by shawn46 on November 04, 2011 at 11:54 AM

DE with the win but nice showing by Clowe. Did everyone shave before their games this night?

Posted by kimo_coyote on November 04, 2011 at 01:35 AM

Clowe saved himself ass beating, grab those jersey boys and pull it over his head when he is kicking your ass. Clowe needs to play hockey and not try and be the policeman for the Sharks.

Posted by fernben8 on November 04, 2011 at 03:50 AM

Good one boys... Both threw equal amount of punches back and forth but will give edge to Engelland. He landed the cleaner punches, like when he bounced back up to his feet. Gotta love the way Engelland throws his punches...simialar to Goddard, very Linear. Gave it a 6.

Posted by chains2612 on November 04, 2011 at 12:16 AM

Close fight but Engelland landed better punches

Posted by Riomouse911 on November 05, 2011 at 12:48 AM

Hard to pick one in this bout. Both gave it a real go!

Posted by rowbearprobear on November 04, 2011 at 01:53 AM

Licking my chops when I saw this one posted. Engelland gets the win and I gave it a 7. Engelland reminds me of Kocur with those nasty rights. Clowe is strong like bull but could not do damage even though he manhandled Engelland for most of the fight. Like Kocur, so many opponents start off with good (bad;) intentions when fighting DE only to get stopped in their tracks by the sheer nastiest of that vicious right hand... Btw -I hate both teams/players equally

Posted by web1350 on November 04, 2011 at 01:40 AM

Win for Engelland. He threw several more punches, landing most if not all of them. The people giving Clowe the edge probably because of him pulling Engellands jersey up. That folks doesnt constitute a win, its the quality of punches that connect and Engelland definitely wins that battle.

Posted by MikeVee on November 04, 2011 at 12:51 AM

Engelland with the win-Clowe with the huge shiner.

Posted by FreeCandy on November 05, 2011 at 01:45 AM

Each man went to their knees and but got back on their skates faster than a speeding linesman. Love that in a fighter (all punching aside) because seriously... how frustrating is a pre-mature topple?? Sweater over the face made me *facepalm* as I envisioned a frontal fight-strap.

Posted by PAfightsfan on November 04, 2011 at 07:57 AM

Close Bout but edge to Engelland. Only because he seemed to land more and I really didn't see Clowe land much. People outside of Pittsburgh have to realize that Engelland is only 200 lbs. He's not a true heavyweight but he takes them on. If he was 240 he'd wipe out a lot of guys!

Posted by atmdadb77 on November 04, 2011 at 08:14 AM

Engelland is a technician when it comes to fighting, he isn't the biggest or strrongest guy but he knows how to fight. He won this one, Clowe tried to use his brute force strength but I give the edge to Engelland.

Posted by tyrone on November 04, 2011 at 11:21 AM

Close, but the guy from England wins.

Posted by Boone2511 on November 04, 2011 at 12:00 AM

Engelland slight edge..Crowes a damn good scrapper but seems to try to go to the pull down if he gets in trouble which I saw in this fight..anyway engelland win for the heavy rights!

Posted by Lucic_Power on November 05, 2011 at 02:25 AM

Narrow Narrow edge to Engelland. San Jose needs Staubitz back.

Posted by Don Berry on November 04, 2011 at 02:17 PM

Good scrap, draw all the way. 20 something teams would line up for Ryan Clowe. He does a little bit of everything. Engelland hits his target often in fights and sometimes this gives him the upper hand early and he is quick!

Posted by ThrowdownSJ408 on November 04, 2011 at 04:43 PM

Posted by Oil Can Henry on November 04, 2011 at 10:58 PM

...decent,...not a lot landing -- even.

Posted by JeanLaValette on November 04, 2011 at 01:47 AM

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on January 25, 2015 at 12:37 AM

I don't think anything significant landed in this scrap. I have to go draw.

Posted by kkdowning on November 04, 2011 at 01:34 PM

Well fought draw -- Clowe's strength against Engelland's tenacity and technique. Would have scored the fight higher if I did not have to listen to those 2 doofs from Pittsburgh announce it.

Posted by Snoka on November 04, 2011 at 01:03 AM

Edge to Clowe

Posted by Clowes ABeast29 on November 04, 2011 at 12:55 AM

What a great scrap both fighting to win! Both throwing with bad intentions. That being said, Engelland early with 2-3 rights. But Clowe blocked a few this is a bad feed, He did a few "Rypien" MMA hand to ear blocks. The other rights when Clowe is off balance look like they land but they miss. They both had each other down at least once. But Clowe Takes the middle part with the Infamouse "Short inside ALI" uppercut. (momentum changer) Then feeds him 2 straight rights. Then Deryk goes into defensive mode after throwing one more right and clowe gets the left up in his face, off balance, and then the jersey over the head. Win Clowe. I can see draw. But i gotta give it to my boy for hanging in there taking a few shots and coming back to get the edge. Mike vee clowe had the shiner before the game. Probably from the prust fight.

Posted by Rags4Life on November 04, 2011 at 04:51 PM

Good scrap between (arguably) the two best scrappers in the league. Engelland with the slight edge in this one.

Posted by tiburon4 on November 04, 2011 at 12:34 AM

Sorry Ryane, I'd give slight edge to Engelland.

Posted by BigBadBruins68 on November 05, 2011 at 05:27 PM

Edge to Engelland, he landed almost all of the clean punches.

Posted by muskokadangler on November 04, 2011 at 04:57 AM

No way thats a draw Engelland is a fighter...Clowe does seem sronger tho but on punches I most certainly have to give er to Deryk

Posted by chad420 on November 06, 2011 at 08:57 AM

win New England

Posted by KMB on November 04, 2011 at 01:19 AM

Good fight. Damn Clowe is strong. Edge Engel.

Posted by CloweStaubi on November 03, 2011 at 11:56 PM

it hurts me to vote for engelland by a very slight edge... but this was a good scrap nonetheless... engelland caught clowe with a few of those rights and gave him a little shiner, but clowe came back with a nice uppercut... clowe with back to back games off the draw fights... sharks needs a real enforcer... where u at frazer mclaren? brandon mashinter?

Posted by edvanImpe on November 04, 2011 at 08:55 AM

Engy landed a nice shot to that potato face of Clowe's, too bad there won't be a rematch ...

Posted by Mounty in NC on April 03, 2012 at 08:07 AM

Good fight, very close. I think Engelland landed a few more blows
