not their best fight!

Posted by aces50 on December 04, 2008 at 12:06 PM

Draw all the way. They need to take their helmets off. The helmets took more punishment than did either fighter.

Posted by ru4reals on December 03, 2008 at 10:59 PM

I just don't understand what some of you guys are watching. This is clearly a draw. Both fighters got their share of punches but no one got the upper hand. 71% Orr? It was a Draw!

Posted by Behn Wilson on December 04, 2008 at 04:56 PM

That would have been such a better fight with the helmets off ! Shame. Nonetheless, Orr stepped up his game enough to earn, at least, a draw against, arguably, this years' heavyweight champ (so far). Heckler warning - Notice the carefully placed ''at least'' and ''arguably'' in that last sentence.

Posted by mikebflorida on December 04, 2008 at 09:09 AM

Godard lands 3 or 4 good punches, Orr lands 4 or 5 good punches, nothing settled here. DRAW I know how the voting will be without even looking at it and it just goes to show how incredibly biased people are towards Orr.

i hate colton orr but he gets the win in this 1....if there was a rematch godard would take him....

2 big boys go toe to toe. No clear winner. Good fight.

Nice fight. Orr seemed to be connecting with better shots and gets the win here

Posted by Black Ice on December 04, 2008 at 06:07 PM

Orr did okay but not enough to get the clear win in my opinion. It's been a pretty exceptional year for Godard. He's a talented and punishing pugilist. He just needs to find his mojo against Orr. Draw.

Posted by jbaker3924 on December 04, 2008 at 12:25 PM

Draw.

Posted by ice birds on December 04, 2008 at 01:30 AM

I feel it's a clear draw. Orr may have had a slightly better fight than Godard, but there is nothing in there to say he deserves a win. He didn't dominate the match and he didn't knock Godard off his feet. They went to the ice together. Draw.

Posted by Riley32 on December 04, 2008 at 02:24 AM

draw...both landed, both missed

Posted by Cairns33 on December 05, 2008 at 04:42 PM

Orr crosscehcks Crosby, Godard fights Orr...that makes Crosby a bitch? Get over it. Everything about Sid in this thread has been repeated so many times. Just STFU already. This is a fight forum. Great Fight. Edge to Orr. Godard showing why he's Top 4 by staying on his feet after recieving some bombs from Orr. Then lands some of his own.

Posted by Mikkel H. on December 04, 2008 at 06:56 AM

both trowing bombs - a clear draw..

good fight . Edge to Orr.

Posted by Xeshybrid on December 03, 2008 at 11:32 PM

There must be alot of Colton Orr fans out there, i dont see how they think this was more than a draw. Any random guy can hold on a throw punches that dont land just like Orr did, if you watch close enough you can see his punches go over the helm or dont even land. I cant wait until Orr and Laraque meet on the ice, im just dying to see Laraque own Orr for the third time.

Posted by Mike_O on January 18, 2009 at 06:41 PM

I garantee Orr will have brian damage if he doesn't already . He hits hard but never has any defense. If you watch him on the bench you see this uncontrollabe smile...like a neurological disorder.

Orr gets the win due better shots

Posted by BigBadBruin22 on December 03, 2008 at 10:55 PM

Not biased at all here...Diehard Bruin Fan, but Orr clearly wins this bout. It wasn't lopsided or anything, but he is more active, he controls the fight and he lands more well placed punches. It's just that simple. What amazes me is Orr isn't a very big guy, he's just big enough to use his talent which is a solid punch.

Posted by DARCY T on December 22, 2008 at 10:13 AM

easy win for orr

Posted by biggravy on December 03, 2008 at 11:40 PM

Orr by a slight margin. Why is it that Godard beats up on the big boys, but when he fights guys similar in size to himself, he doesn't fare as well?

Posted by Gunslinger on December 04, 2008 at 08:18 AM

Orr throw lots of rights which connect(many to the side of the head). If you have never been punched in the ear(take it from someone who has), it hurts. Godard never really has a chance to set up, he switchs hands midway but with little effect. I thought Godard would fare better but Orr is full marks for the win. I wish the Sens/Thrashers fights were like this.

Posted by billy jack on December 04, 2008 at 02:07 PM

orr had the tall one off balance all fight, you rocked him baby, you brought the fight down town,no bush wacking needed, orr you win one for the good guys.lets put evil on the shelf..

Real good fight, lot of big shots, Orr landed more.

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on February 09, 2013 at 12:39 AM

Orr staggered Goddard with a nice right and then landed about 4 or 5 more good shots right after. Good fight.

Posted by Big_Goon on December 04, 2008 at 05:43 PM

Orr seemed to be beating Godard to the punch by a milisecond or two. Good bout edge Orr.

Posted by J.R. Abel on December 04, 2008 at 03:16 PM

Pretty decent go here. Orr came out on top. For some reason Godard hasn't done very well against Orr his whole career. I guess Orr just has his number. It was stated before the game that Godard was battling a bit of pnuemonia, I don't know that this would have made any difference though. Good scrap - win for Orr.

Posted by egdirdle6667 on December 04, 2008 at 08:16 PM

Really, easy win for Orr, Land some hard shots!

Posted by Faramir on December 04, 2008 at 12:21 PM

Good fight! Orr landed better, but it wasn't complete domination. Edge Orr.

Posted by Cid on December 04, 2008 at 03:03 AM

Posted by dropkick25 on December 03, 2008 at 10:54 PM

Pretty good scrap, both came to throw em.Orr landed more direct hits...go ahead...call me homer....Godard has made a helluva comeback in 2yrs.Back in the top 10.Didn't get the win here but much better than his previous bouts with Orr.

Posted by spugh99 on December 04, 2008 at 05:22 PM

A good fight from two very tough guys, but I give it to Orr on a narrow decision.

Posted by dukeofearle on December 05, 2008 at 05:56 PM

Good Bout, Orr landed some beauties. Godard is looking like a good replacement for Laraque.

Orr in a close one 10 - 9. Landed a few more than Goddard. Good Battle.

Posted by ort2lax on January 30, 2009 at 10:27 AM

THIS WAS THE START OF A RIVALRY... Orr takes it

Posted by rugby on December 04, 2008 at 09:54 AM

Win Orr. Surprising that Godard does better against the bigger bodies in scraps. That is a nice evolution of a tough guy. Orr has gone from on the ice only to fight at stoppages in play, to a 4th liner that can go out and throw some nice hits, forecheck and still remain one of the top heavies in the league. Impressive.

Posted by dorkinheimer on December 05, 2008 at 06:42 AM

Orr hit his man a few more times.

Posted by Thunder Cat 2 on December 04, 2008 at 12:12 PM

Posted by nighthawk walt on December 04, 2008 at 07:38 PM

close fight but orr did land the bigger and better punches.give orr the victory.

Posted by kings0575 on December 04, 2008 at 01:43 AM

in the begining godard had a coulpe of nice quick jab's, but in the end orr landed more big shots. and dominated the fight alround.

Posted by KJNYR on December 04, 2008 at 12:33 PM

Edge to Orr. Sure he doesnt pummel Godard, but he picks his spots and gets in more solid punches. MikeB- Only in your book would the numbers 4 & 5 be even. 4 or 5 good punches are greater than 3 or 4 good punches. You talk about the Ranger homers, but you are clearly a Ranger hater. Im sure Orrs KO of Fridge a couple of years back was a draw. Please dont comment on any more Ranger fights.

Posted by hal29 on December 04, 2008 at 12:33 AM

ummm, orr is 6'3 and 222lbs i would say he isa big boy,if you say godard towers over him godard is an inch taller and if you sayin thses two are the best in the league right now,he has faught in little while but what about thornton,he destroys heavy weights has beaten them all threw out his career.orr has a lot of history with providence and boston.i think he would be a great addition to the 4th line with kobasew and thorny.get rid of yelle ad put him there.

Posted by Anders 9 on January 25, 2009 at 10:08 PM

Two tough guys, but Godard just couldn't put anything together in this one. Orr came out with a little more fire, through more punches, got in the only decent shots, and had Godard on the defense. Godard stood strong, but just couldn't find his target in this one.

Posted by wannago on December 04, 2008 at 08:48 PM

Orr TOOLS Goddard. Total domination in this one. Orr has learned how to keep the right free and lands it at will in this one, taking Goddard to his knees and the linesmen come in.

Posted by randycard on December 08, 2008 at 02:29 AM

excellent fight...haven't seen one like that in a while. They got game.

Posted by hipchecker20 on December 04, 2008 at 10:40 PM

Listen to the announcer talking about what Goddard "comes with." Fact is Goddard didn't come with a thing. Chased Orr for a long time in order to receive a licking.

Posted by cnote444 on December 04, 2008 at 05:37 PM

Two of the biggest and best going toe to toe...thats why we come to this sight. Orr definitely landed better and more often, so the W has to go his way.

Posted by OriginalSix on July 12, 2009 at 05:39 PM

Clear WIN to Colton Orr in an absolute war. Godard got some beauties in but it wasn't enough. Orr stayed active and threw down some heavy shots. Great fight.

Posted by stizzo on December 05, 2008 at 03:02 PM

Orr is one of the least entertaining fighters in hockey, but does get the win here against won of the best in hockey - Good Fight!

Posted by glance on December 04, 2008 at 08:58 AM

Great fight between two incredible warriors. Orr won the bout but I would take Eric Godard on my team any day. For those who dont believe Orr won the fight you did not see to much of Godard afterwards and he and his teammates pretty much left Orr alone afterwards even though Orr crunched Sid the wimp a few more times later in the game.

Posted by omorales on December 04, 2008 at 07:42 AM

Godard seems to do much better against the bigger guys, win Orr,

Posted by jspapers on December 04, 2008 at 04:51 AM

orr at the end of a shift and godard was fresh. I think he jumped on during the scrum with crosby. A good battle between two of the best. After the face off Godard chases him around and meets "the dukes of hazard"

Posted by Jellyczar on December 04, 2008 at 02:28 PM

Orr gets the win and ice for his knuckles...some off Godard's face, some off the helmut.

Posted by ETR on December 04, 2008 at 09:51 AM

Good scrap, both guys throwing and taking good punches. Orr landed a few more. He gets the round 10-9....

Great scrap from two great fighters. Edge to Orr with bombs at the end. Great Feud

Posted by superheckman on December 04, 2008 at 04:02 PM

That was everything I expected it to be and then some. It was actually a real fight compared to those previous 3 ATL fights.

Posted by BattleAxe13 on December 04, 2008 at 10:19 AM

Yeah even as a Pens fan I gotta give this one to Orr. Orr had good defense it really didn't look like Godard landed much and Orr threw some stunners that really connected. Pretty good fight though.

Posted by capsfloors on December 04, 2008 at 07:02 AM

So much for all of the talk about "king Godard". A good tilt for both men and a slight edge to Orr. What you Pens fans have to realise is that there are about 5 guys in this league who are above every other enforcer...and on any given night can get beat by one or the other...BTW Cindy Crosby is such a bi!ch... he whines any time you hit him. Last time I looked checking is still legal in the NHL! I'll take Ovechkin or Iginla any time over that crybaby...

Posted by Dampland on December 03, 2008 at 10:52 PM

Slight Edge to ORR for landing a few more . Good scrap

Posted by wuzzaman on December 08, 2008 at 02:36 AM

Posted by bigjack on December 04, 2008 at 09:41 AM

Orr took care of business rather easily!

Posted by mAnYsTyLeS on December 04, 2008 at 12:44 PM

Great fight by two REALLY tough guys. I'll repeat this... when Orr gets mad (which he doesn't often) it's very hard to beat him. You could see it in his face before this fight (BGL and Brashear don't count because they're mutants and they never lose). These are the types of fights when Colton is really good. His balance was great and he connected on some nice bombs. Unfortunately, this is NOT what he did when he faced Koci and that's why Koci won that fight (Koci connected on a nice shot to Colton's face in that one so he gets the win in my book). Colton was a HUGE PART to the Rangers win in this game and this is what he should be doing more often - as well as trying to score a goal here and there. COLTON - I tip my hat to your toughness, skill and CLASS! Good luck! NOTE - Orr is probably the smallest of all heavy weights - the stats on most sites give extra inches and pounds - I've seen him in person. Also, Sidney Crosby is one of the worst things to happen to the NHL - I've never seen such a b*tch like him in my life. Alexander Ovechkin should have been the face of the NHL - period.

Posted by redwhiteblue on December 04, 2008 at 06:57 AM

Closest fight of the 3 I've seen between these 2. 10 to 9 win for Orr. Last time they fought I believe Goddard's season ended......and it was only March.

Posted by BooSanta on December 05, 2008 at 03:25 PM

The Colt downright 45s Godard here. The rights from Orr look like vintage Astros era Billy Wagner fastballs into a catchers mit. Godard wanted this one bad for the little crosscheck gesture from Colt on Crosby. Godard can certainly take the bombs though, but this bout certainly sustained it self on a hearty diet of Colt Rights. They both landed quite a few but The Colt rights were much more prevalent. The refs stepped in quick here as they started getting off balance in the end.

Posted by gonzo44 on December 06, 2008 at 08:04 AM

Good big fight

Posted by staceyb on December 04, 2008 at 05:34 AM

MSG was showing a replay with a different camera shot that showed one Godard blow catching Orr square on the chin and knocking his head back. But to watch this view gives Orr the nod. That was a huge Rangers comeback last night, 3-2 in the SO. Orr was chasing Crosby around during the first period and Godard stepped in.

Posted by byvelds68 on December 04, 2008 at 12:31 AM

Posted by ahartnack on December 06, 2008 at 06:39 PM

Orr with the better shots, Couldn't believe Goddard, after starting the fight, was not throwing them the way he's capable of. Good win by Orr.

Posted by craig16 on December 04, 2008 at 08:05 PM

Good fight by Orr. But im suprised Godard had such a terrible showing.....Those shots to the side of his head are gonna swell that ear up bad haha. Sid the Crybaby may need a new bodyguard if godard keeps this up.

Posted by bobsledjamaica on December 04, 2008 at 11:39 AM

Orr got some good punches to the face of Godard, and switched his arm very well to continue give him the advantage in this fight.

Posted by kimocoyote on December 04, 2008 at 12:31 AM

Godard must be glad he was able to keep his head protection on. Orr threw and connected some good shots. Got to give it to Godard for stepping up and a good fight.

Posted by elks_scraps on December 04, 2008 at 05:29 PM

Not a fan of either team but love watching both of these guys fight, they come to throw em with bad intentions unlike the BGL hug machine et al Orr's the better man on this night comfortably. Don't know how any fight fan could not like Orr, easily provides some of the most entertaining fights of the year

Posted by buddha on December 04, 2008 at 01:47 PM

Orr clearly gets the better of Godard landing some big blows.

Posted by brazos on December 04, 2008 at 10:07 AM

Not even close by any standard. Orr landed numerous shots to Godard's face. A domination by Orr. Spirited bout but no contest.

Posted by clmetsfan on December 04, 2008 at 03:51 PM

Orr in an easy decision. His balance is so good. There were a couple times when I thought Godard was going to send him backwards, but he was able to stay on his feet despite that wide open style of his, and land some real bombs.

Great fight, very close but i have to give the edge to Orr, seemed like he landed more power shots but still a good showing from Godard. Two of the best enforcers in the game.

MCGRATTAN WOULD KILL BOTH OF THESE TOOLS IN A FIGHT. NICE TILT EDGE TO ORR. CANUCKS SUCK

I thought this was a great fight. They both got many bombs in but i thought Orr got in a bunch more. Great fight. I voted for Orr

ORR FTW! Well he owns Eric Godard

Posted by phastphil on December 04, 2008 at 05:04 PM

I love godard (felt like he may have been the toughest in the league) but I'm a bruins fan and saw alot of orr in providence and boston. don't know what mike o'connell was thinking when he let this guy slip away to the rangers. one of many great moves by o.c. nice win for c. orr. godard's a beast, though it just goes to show that on any given night these tough guys can beat one another, especially the top five fighters, and these two are both top five. easy.

Great fight, to bad it wasn't longer.

Lots of punches to shoulder pads and helmets. Draw.

Posted by nor.stewart on December 05, 2008 at 09:06 PM

Godard took it to him, Orr responded. No clear winner, call it a draw. One thing about Godard he is never slow to take on anybody. Would love him to be on my team.

Throw fest!!!

BGL fan and a Pens fan, but I have to say, I have more respect for Orr as a stand in there and punch fighter than anyone else in the league. Win Orr.

Im surprised......Orr schooled Godard

Posted by Rags2Riches on December 03, 2008 at 11:17 PM

Orr dominated. Goddard got only a few punches in. Not close.

Posted by DevsFan30 on December 04, 2008 at 12:18 AM

Very good fight. Hard to believe these two hadn't had a go in over two and a half years.

Rangers fans make the Philly fans look nonbiased. Fight was a draw/slight edge to Orr. Thought Colton controlled the fight for most of it til the end when they both started swinging. Closer fight then you homers wanna go with.

Bombs Away!

Posted by marinermoose38 on December 04, 2008 at 04:55 PM

I was expecting a close fight between these two heavies, and a close fight I DID NOT SEE. Orr with the dominating win over Godard, who he himself has had a great year fighting-wise.

Posted by jcstokes on December 03, 2008 at 09:44 PM

All Orr in this long one. Great camera work from MSG. Godard didn't land much, if any. Orr was solid in landing many shots to Godard's face and head.

Posted by pynkfloid3 on December 05, 2008 at 11:50 AM

orr landing some bombs

Posted by tim daddy on December 04, 2008 at 09:56 AM

what a scrap!!!

For the roughly 7% of "fans" who voted for Eric Goddard - please start cutting your Prozac tablets in half. What the hell are you looking at? If you dislike New York that much you can become an NHL Referee - or work for the league and help Montreal get more 7 game homestands, with 10 out of 11 played at the Centre. Hey, I know! How about all Canadian rooters and New York haters vote Mike Komiscarek onto the All Star team as the toughest guy in the league - right above the mightly Lucic.
