Zac Rinaldo, Penalty Killer

Flyers’ Rinaldo embraces penalty-killing role

Both Berube and Laperriere think if Rinaldo can harness his speed, he will be valuable in a pinch.

“He can skate,” Berube said. “He’s fearless to block shots. That’s the main ingredient, just some reads. Over time, he’ll get the right reads. He understands the system.”

As for where he can improve, Rinaldo pointed to staying in a disciplined position and using stops and starts, instead of circling. He has been getting tips and tricks from his teammates along the way.

“I still have a lot of learning to do, a lot of progression to go forward,” Rinaldo said. “I think I did a good job, especially against those players – the best in the world. I’m still practicing everything.”
