Wayne Simmonds Goes Gordie in Wild Win Over Pens

Wayne Simmonds picked up a Gordie Howe Hat Trick en route to a wild Flyers win over the Penguins last night.

Simmonds scored mid-way through the first period to tie the game 2-2. Less than 40 seconds later Simmonds emerged from a scrum with Tanner Glass. Simmonds was able to get off the first few punches, and then Glass gained his composure and fired back. It was a good, entertaining scrap that left the crowd in a frenzy.

With only ten seconds left in the second period Simmonds completed the GHHT by assisting on Jakub Voracek's first goal of the night.

The curiously-named powerforward brag-stat was topped off by a second goal by Simmonds in the thid. Simmonds was a +2, credited with a hit and racked it all up in under 12 minutes of ice time.
