A game-heavy night was capped off with NHL veterans Ed Jovanovski and Jarome Iginla dropping the gloves. After squaring off, Jovocop tossed his lid, and Iginla, who wears a visor, followed suit – something he’s done before – Dion Phaneuf take note. The two went on to trade punches in a good scrap, dislodging the Coyotes goal in the process.
After going down 3-0, the Flames looked like they were going to repeat last night’s game against the Oilers. Instead, seven minutes into the third period, Phaneuf scored on the power play and then again seven minutes later. With nine seconds left, Iginla tied up the game. The Flames then went on to win in a shootout. It was the morale boost the Flames needed as they still have one more game on Thursday against the Blackhawks before Saturday’s next installment of the Battle of Alberta.

Tocchet to return Thursday
Rick Tocchet‘s suspension from the NHL will come to a close Thursday when he returns to the bench with Wayne Gretzky to coach the Coyotes against the Blue Jackets.
Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail has Gretzky’s tale of their first meeting:
They played together for two years with the Los Angeles Kings in the mid-1990s, but Wayne Gretzky’s relationship with Rick Tocchet dates back much longer than that.
“My first recollection of him was in the ‘85 finals, when he ran me the first game in Philly,” Gretzky was saying Tuesday night. “I said something to him and he turned to me and said, ‘Get used to it, it’s going to happen every night for the next seven games.’ I said to him, ‘I must be in the wrong series, because we only plan on going four.’ “
