Tucker Ends Fighting Respite
It’s hard to believe, but Darcy Tucker had gone close to four months without getting into a fight, one of the longest such instances of his career. Until last night that is. After Tucker took a big-time run at Patrice Brisebois during the second period of Habs–Avs, Brisebois had no choice but to go after him. The two dropped the gloves in a scrap that didn’t last very long, but had some decent shots landed by both.
The rest of Friday’s action had two games with two fights each. Ben Eager and David Backes got into it during a scrum along the boards in Hawks–Blues, but it was Brad Winchester that Eager ended up dancing with after the two exchanged words while the officials were restoring order. Matt Walker and B.J. Crombeen tangled in a long one earlier in the game.
Brandon Dubinsky found a familiar opponent in Gregory Campbell late in the first period of Rangers–Panthers. They were followed by Paul Mara and Nick Boynton, who exchanged blows after Mara was giving the business to David Booth later in the game.
