Three’s Company
Three scraps last night in a total of ten games.
Tim Conboy fought Scott Parker in his first NHL scrap during last night’s Colorado–Carolina game. A bout between Mike Commodore and Cody McCormick followed.
Chris Neil and Andreas Lilja dropped the gloves as well after Neil clipped Lilja with a high stick.
Sundin Shoves Linesman
Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin shoved linesman Lonnie Cameron on his way to the locker room at the end of last night’s game against the Sharks.
According to head referee Rob Shick, the incident was just a show of emotion:
“It was just heat-of-the-moment stuff,” Shick said. “We’re okay with it. From our point of view, we have to know the difference between emotion and abuse. This was emotion.”
Sundin denied shoving the linesman, saying if there was contact, “it was accidental.”
Shick also added that Sundin won’t face any ramifications.
McCarty Scores, Fights, and Sells Out
Darren McCarty did it all in his home debut with the IHL’s Flint Generals last night.
McCarty scored the game-winning goal and then followed it up with a fight against Chris Kovalcik of the Muskegon Fury. The AP reports that the Generals received their first home sellout in three years.
