The Gap

Ian Laperriere, still the sole Av to get into a fight this season, dropped the gloves tonight to put him back on top of the leaders list with Matt Barnaby.

One thing stands out about the top of the leaders list when you add an extra column – age.

Look likes some vets who refuse to change their game for the "new" NHL along with young, scrappy players who have found a way to play their game despite the stricter rules implementations. Of course, it’s just really a random statistic.

Why point that out? Why not? Depending on how the season progresses and the rest of the leaders list sorts itself out, the gap could become a real consistent pattern, but as of now once you get past the double digits, the ages are pretty random (which doesn’t mean you won’t see meaningless stats like this turned into something “real” on tv).

The videos page is updated with the exception of Belak–Peters, which I hope to have up sometime tomorrow (will update here). Youtube’s been a bit clunky the past day and is down for maintenance at the moment, but I’ll have a new preview sometime tomorrow as well.

For those who missed it, check out Sportsnet’s feature on hockeyfights.com (when Youtube is zapped back to life).

Update 1230pm: Brash-Roy put up as the newest Youtube preview.

Update Jan 12 230am: Belak-Peters is viewable after the jump and on the videos page for download.
