Blow-by-blow account

On a memorable night at the Hartford Civic Center in the early 1980s, Bruins defenseman Gord Kluzak and Whalers winger Torrie Robertson had three thunderous fights in a row. It was fight, go in the penalty box. After five minutes, step back on the ice — leaving sticks and gloves in the box — fight again. Serve another five minutes, and then back out for a third-round right in front of the box.

“I’m sure every fan there hated it, right?” David M. Singer said jokingly, knowing that everybody in the arena that night had to be thrilled watching these two warriors go toe-to-toe.
