Sens’ Borowiecki Sticking to His Game

Boro has Ottawa Senators’ backs

Senators defenceman Mark Borowiecki has no problem fighting.

He likes it, in fact, and knows sticking up for his teammates and providing an overall physical presence is what got him to the NHL and is so far making him an important part of the Senators’ blueline.

But out of the six fights the player nicknamed Boro Cop has been in this season — including two during pre-season play — at least half of those came after the 6-foot-2, 205-pound 25-year-old laid someone out with a good, clean check.

It seems more and more any hit that ends up with the player flat on his back is deemed dirty by the opposition and, therefore, must be avenged. Borowiecki chuckled Wednesday when asked how many times he’s had to defend himself after throwing a clean hit.
