Rangers and Blues Trade Lumps

After a pair of fights a minute apart in last night’s Rangers–Blues game, each team was probably feeling pumped up after seeing their tough guy dominate an opponent.

Almost mid-way through the second period Colton Orr through a hit on David Perron that Tyson Strachan wasn’t a fan of.  Strachan challenged Orr and Orr proceeded to tag him with some heavy shots before Strachan fell to the ice.

A little over a minute later Aaron Voros and Cam Janssen went right off of a faceoff.  Janssen relentlessly tossed punches at a game Voros until Voros hit the ice and the linesmen stepped in.

The game was a tight one, with St. Louis scoring late, and defending hard afterwards for a 2-1 victory.

There were four other fights in the five other NHL games played.

Lappy on the move?

The Avalanche sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference and the team could become sellers at the trade deadline.  Both Ian Laperriere and Jordan Leopold are unrestricted free agents this summer.  A team looking for leadership, grit, and bilingual-annoy-the-crap-out-of-you-ness just might be interested.  However, according to Laperriere, he’d like nothing more than to remain in Colorado.

A second career

Justin Bourne‘s post, A love-hate relationship with hockey, over at The Hockey News, might be the best player blog I’ve ever read.  Bourne has his own blog over at jtbourne.wordpress.com, and I highly suggest giving both a read and adding him to your feedreader.

I’ll make no predictions about the length of his hockey career, but he should be able to write much longer than he plays, and hopefully someone who can pay him to do so will take notice.

Mike V and the Stache

Outside of rocking jackets that only people in Cali can, I’m not sure what Mike V and George Parros have planned.  Hard not to notice the Revolution Mother (Mike V’s band) tee on Parros though.

Facebook

For the Facebook addicts out there, we’ve setup a hockeyfights.com page on Facebook.  You can become a fan and follow the site while you meme 25 random things about yourself and throw virtual snowballs.  What more can you ask for?  I’m still tinkering with the page to make it neater and easier to read.

Twitter, RSS

Just a reminder that we’re still on Twitter, too.  For whatever reason I’m not receiving emails from Twitter, so if you don’t get followed back right away, don’t be offended.

If you’re into RSS feeds, subscribe away.
