One Wednesday

Just one fight last night, an unexpected scrap between Tuomo Ruutu and Ron Hainsey after Ruutu launched himself into Rusty Klesla in the corner.  Not a huge number of punches thrown, but that’s not really the point of a fight like that.

First line Fedoruk

Tom Powers of The Pioneer Press looks at the Fridge‘s ride from waivers to the Wild’s top line:

As it turns out, Lemaire loves the guy. He was surprised by Fedoruk’s discipline and ability to make the right decisions. And he was impressed that Fedoruk could hit hard and clean and stay away from too many penalties. So Fedoruk often rides shotgun for Gaborik and Demitra. He has even seen duty on the power play, where his job is to go the front of the net and stay there.

“Things are good, especially considering how they started this year,” Fedoruk said.

Pick a Thornton

If I told you Thornton had two goals Tuesday night, Shawn probably wouldn’t be the first name you’d guess to use, but it was the B’s enforcer’s night to put the puck in the net.  Unfortunately for Boston fans, Thornton couldn’t complete the hat trick to tie the game, and the Bruins lost 3-2 to the Hurricanes.  Thornton did pick up the second star of the game for his efforts.
