He was a giant in our business, working 32 years for the Buffalo News, being the first to make the leap to online. When Jim passed away at age 61 Tuesday from pancreatic cancer, hockey fans lost a precious voice.
He always told it like he saw it, unafraid of the consequences. Watching Jim with pad in left hand and right hand waving go toe-to-toe with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman at every state-of-the-league address was a sight to see.
