Line Brawl Caps Vancouver’s Game 2 Win

The Vancouver Canucks cruised to a 4-1 victory on home ice Friday night, tying up their series against the Calgary Flames at one game apiece. The Flames stole home ice advantage, for the moment, by splitting the first two games in Vancouver. They also sent a message at the end of the game that the Canucks may have run away with this one game, but the series will be a long battle, and they won't take postseason defeat quietly.

The brawl started with 1:17 remaining in the game. A post-whistle scrum in front of the Vancouver net quickly — very quickly — evolved into a mess of fighting majors and misconducts. Brad Richardson separated Matt Stajan from the pile. Two players not known for their pugilism engaged in a free-swinging affair. It was a fun, nasty playoff-type fight that saw Richardson continuing to punch Stajan after they fell to the ice.
