Leblond Debuts Tonight

After opening some eyes on the New Jersey Devils’ coaching staff during the preseason, Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond has earned his first call-up of the season and will now make his NHL regular season debut tonight against Sean Avery and the Dallas Stars.

Along with Steve MacIntyre, Leblond is really one of the best stories to come out of the early part of this season. Despite splitting his time between the AHL and ECHL over the last two years, Leblond has now secured his first cup of coffee with the Devils. Whether his recall had anything to do with Avery being the opposing lineup is tough to say (we can’t forget Avery’s encounter with Martin Brodeur last season), but Leblond says that he’ll be ready for anything regardless:

The emergency recall of slugger Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond, with Brian Rolston (ankle) and Bobby Holik (broken finger) out for weeks, suggests the possibility of payback by someone who wasn’t around for last spring’s shenanigans.

“That’s from last year. If the guy is looking for trouble, then I’m his man. But there’s no cause for me to be looking around for that,” Leblond said.

Leblond will be skating on a rough-and-tumble fourth line along with Michael Rupp and David Clarkson and will have about 20 guests in attendance to watch his first game in the big show. Best of luck making an impact Pierre-Luc.
