Kyle Clifford Fights Twice in Kings Loss to Sharks

The Sharks and Kings played a mixed bag of games this season that included a few lop-sided affairs along with a couple of shootout games. There has been little fistic action between the California rivals.

Last night the Sharks easily won the season series-ender between top two Pacific division teams and the gloves hit the ice three times, the first time that's happened since April 12, 1997.

Not surprisingly, Kings rookie Kyle Clifford was in the middle of most of the action. In the first period he had a quick bout with Jamal Mayers after hitting Mayers awkwardly into the boards. Late in the third Douglas Murray, who was part-wall and part-hitting machine all game, knocked down Brad Richardson. As both Richardson and Clifford went afer Murray, Dan Boyle came flying in and grabbed Richardson, leaving Clifford to pair off with Murray.

Clifford now has 17 fights on the season, five coming against rivals Sharks and Ducks. The Kings end the season with a home and home against the Ducks this upcoming Friday and Saturday.
