Erskine Gives Asham a Different View of Caps

A couple of months ago Arron Asham was the most hated man in Washington DC after knocking out Jay Beagle and giving the crowd a show on his way to the penalty box. Asham apologized immediately after the game, but Capitals fans weren't looking to forgive quite so fast.

A little over five minutes into last night's game Craig Adams scored for the Penguins, with Asham earning the first assist. John Erskine issued a challenge on the ensuing faceoff and had a good bout with the top middleweight.

I asked Erskine if he had Asham's fight with Beagle on his mind. He said, “the fight tonight had nothing to do with the Beagle incident. I thought it was a good chance to get the team going after [the Penguins] scored, and I knew Asham would be game.”

A First

Bracken Kearns picked up his first NHL fighting major during the regular season in a short fight versus Colin Fraser. Kearns other NHL fight experience came during the 2010-11 preseason.
