Georges Laraque Criticizes Canadiens Acquisition of George Parros

Laraque: Habs’ Parros won’t initmidate division opponents

“He’s a good guy, but in the NHL you have to intimidate,” Laraque continued. “He has a good technique, but he’s more like a wrestler than a finisher…Florida wouldn’t let Parros go if he was doing the job.

“The Canadiens’ division is the most tough – I’m sure they’re better with him,” added Laraque. “But knowing the Montreal market, people will begin to wonder why they got this guy after two or three beatings.”

Georges Laraque didn't hold back here. These are strong words, especially when it involves players who played during the same time period. It should be noted Laraque never fought George Parros in the NHL.

It should also be noted Laraque is campaigning for a seat in Montreal in Canada's House of Commons and commenting on hockey is always a good way to get some press in Montreal.

* edit – correction 225pm: The original headline read that the Canadiens signed Parros. They traded for him and he still has a year left on his contract from the Panthers. Thanks to @AJbuffny for the correction.
