Eager Action

Second night in a row with three fights.  Ben Eager, who went with Ryan Hollweg last night, joined Matt Barnaby and Ian Laperriere on the top of the FM leaders list.

The Toronto–Boston scrum with Brendan Bell
and Shean Donovan coming out of it with the gloves off is the newest Youtube preview on the videos page.

MSG Network had an intermission segment where they replayed portions of the Eager-Hollweg fight.  Hollweg was mic’d up and almost nothing was said.  Just the hit, a “let’s go” and some punches.  Perhaps they were expecting a more cordial invite, a la Georges Laraque that we all witnessed a little over a month ago.

After watching Laraque wish Raitis Ivanans good luck, Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post asked Big Georges if he would have taken up Brendan Shanahan on his request for a fight, like Donald Brashear did.

“Well, Shanahan is obviously not a heavyweight, and [Brashear] just wanted to make sure that he really wanted to do it,” the Politer Fighter said. “Because, you know, you’ll look stupid if you drop the gloves and Shanahan tells him to go and just get away. So he just wanted to make sure that it’s really what he wanted, and he knew that was the right guy. So yeah, I guess, it was the right move, yeah.

“Me personally, I wouldn’t even fight [Shanahan],” Laraque continued. “I would turn it down, I wouldn’t even do it. But some guys are comfortable doing it. Even if he’d asked me to go I wouldn’t do it. You have nothing to win for doing that. We’re different in that regard. I wouldn’t do that. [Brash] did it.”
