Claude Loiselle as Assistant GM

Loiselle brings on-ice approach to Leafs’ front office

Names, dates, innovations and ideas were sprayed in cursive throughout the hundreds of pages. Loiselle had been a player before he became management, a hard-working forward who killed penalties, sacrificed teeth and (accidentally) exploded the blade of his stick on Bobby Clarke’s forehead one night. That was a long time ago, but the only major change in his approach to working seems to be that paper has replaced ice.

As assistant general manager, he is the numbers man with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the executive who monitors every aspect of the salary cap, and who serves on point for most contract negotiations. Loiselle also scouts, evaluates players and will, according to his boss, be general manager of his own team one day.
