The Isles' Bergenheim partially collides with Kolzig and Kolzig takes exception and yells some words at Bergenheim. Witt starts lookng for trouble and some revenge for the spill Kolzig took. Bergenheim then rams Ettinger into the boards and a few seconds later at center ice a brawl/scrum erupts. Witt goes after Cairns and in come the fighters. Everyone has a partner with Witt-Cairns and Sutherby-Wiemer as the main attractions. The Witt/Carins scrap is between the linesmen so not much happens. At the same time, Sutherby and Weimer have each other's jerseys. Suddenly, Sutherby gives Wiemer a right and away they go. Weimer starts throwing lefts, a couple connected. Sutherby than lands a strong right, before Wiemer answers with a left. After some quick grappling, Sutherby loses his balance along the boards and goes down. Meanwhile, Godard had to be restrained by Kerry Fraser as he somehow did not find a partner during the skirmish. Godard dropped the gloves, but didn't give Fraser a hard time about being restrained. Other Penalties: Janne Niinimaa, Eric Godard, Eric Cairns and Brendan Witt each received a roughing.

A few jabs for each, then Boucher gets Pettinger's helmet off and pulls his jersey up. Linesmen come in and it's done.

After the play, the linesmen try to break them up, but they block the linesmen out and go. Witt swings a haymaker that misses and he falls from the momentum. DiMaio tries to get in some shots, but nothing happens.

They squareoff for a bit at center ice. They grab a hold of each other, Doig throws one that misses, and loses balance. Low attempts a couple while they're going down, but that's it.

Rematch from last year. Neil got a small jab on Doig's nose (could have missed), and Doig gets in a few good rights to the side of Neil's face. Doig gets spun around and Neil hits him in the back of the head and they fall.

Both go after each other the whole shift and finally Belak hits Peat and they decide to go. Belak starts off pretty well with the uppercuts to straight rights. Most came up short, but he did get in a couple. Peat then gets the lefts going again, but Belak turns into him and Peat can't get in much. Belak throws a couple of more that seem to hit the mark. Peat gets his left free again and lands a big left that gives Belak a bloody nose and follows up with another big left. They then hug and the linesmen come in.

Doig throws a huge hit and Domi comes in. They circle and Domi starts spinning him and throws a couple, with one right connecting. Doig gets control and is swinging over Domi with most hitting the side of his head. They hold on more as Doig continues to throw and gets a big right before the linesmen come in. Other Penalties: Domi received an instigator and misconduct.

Scrum after the play and these two grab on and eventually decide to go. They wander away from the scrum and Doig gets his left free and throws some punches, landing one. Fedoruk tries to get in position, but Doig throws lefts again. This time he lands a few decent punches, but still missing more. Finally Fedoruk gets a hand free and throws a couple, landing one, as Doig gets bent over. They get behind the net and Fedoruk throws a couple of more at the end, again landing one. Other Penalties: Doig received a roughing.

Peat checks Parker and Parker taps him with the stick, then they drop the gloves at center ice. Short squareoff as Parker grabs Peat's jersey, pulls him in and throws a couple of lefts bending Peat over and landing on the side of his head. Peat then recovers as they hold each other off with oppisite hands. Peat then throws a nice right as Parker responds with a right, with one connecting. Peat tries to turn away so Parker can't hit him, and Parker can't seem to get things going to the head so he starts to throw body shots. Peat tries to throw rights, with most coming up short, maybe one or two grazing Parker. Parker then throws a couple, landing a weak right as they are both locking each other out. They tire and the refs come in.

Peat levels Marty Murray and Boulerice goes straight at him. They squareoff for a little, come togethor and hold each other off and swing long punches. Peat was getting in a couple, hitting some shoulder, while Boulerice connected to Peat's face well. Then Boulerice pulls Peat's jersey over his head and then starts throwing lefts at Peat, landing a few. As the linesmen come in to break it up Peat lands a few to Boulerice's head. Other Penalties: Boulerice received an instigator and misconduct.

There's a scrum, and they break off from the pack and have a spirited little bout. Berry lands some early, but Sarich seems to outlast him. Good right by Sarich cuts Berry. Berry is gassed from the end and comes out of his jersey before they fall. Other Penalties: Olaf Kolzig received a roughing; John Grahame a leaving the crease; Alexander Svitov a slashing.

At the faceoff they drop the gloves and have a nice squareoff. They come together with Boulton getting a good right in. They hold on and Peat gets the helmet off of Boulton and throws five or six rights with most hitting the side of the head. They then hold on again and Peat gets a right free and gets a nice punch in. He then switches to the left and gets a big uppercut and Boulton finally gets free and misses a huge haymaker and falls.

They have a nice square off at center ice and Peat and Cairns start to trade 'em. Peat lands some nice lefts and it looked as though Cairns might go down, but he takes those shots and returns some moster rights towards while getting Peat's sweater over his head as Cairns punches him to the ice.

McAllister early, Peat late. Peat switched late and surprised McAllister a bit, getting in some good shots. McAllister eventually goes down from a Peat left in a very good fight.

McCormick did not want to go as he had broke his finger in the last game. He still had his one glove on and never threw a punch. Sutherby threw a couple of noogies to the back of the head. This fight did not deserve majors at all. McAllister also got a double minor for roughing up Doig, which could have been a single. Other Penalties: Chris McAllister received a double roughing.

Great toe to toe affair here with both tossing the rights early. Lots of punches thrown by both, but mostly catching helmet. Doull then switches to the left and looks to land at least one, maybe two while Zinger sticks to the rights and maybe gets a grazing blow in. Zinger lost his balance and went to his knees and the linesmen are in.

Both are tied up by the Washington bench with Ferguson throwing rights to the back of Verot's head. Verot tries to throw a few, but is blocked. Ferguson throws a couple of more rights and then switches to throwing lefts and it looks like he snapped Verot's head back. Verot tries to throw more rights, but is tied up.

Iginla checks Whitfield and then turns to face him. Whitfield drops the gloves, but Iggy doesn't want to go. Saprkyin comes in and pushes Whitfield and then drops the gloves. Oleg gets a couple shots in then falls to his knees. Whitfield throws a few that look to connect while Oleg is down. He gets back up and throws about three more before the linesmen come in. Other Penalties: Whitfield received an unsportsmanlike conduct.

Early in the second period, Peat throws an elbow at Skrlac. Skrlac follows him down the ice and challenges him. A pretty long fight with Peat landing a lot of shots in the beginning. Skrlac seemed to land a few good ones as well, but Peat unloaded on him a few times. The linesmen almost break it up along the boards, but both guys want more. They throw a few more as they get to the middle of the ice and it is finally broken up. Skrlac may have had a little blood on his nose, and Peat ended up without a jersey.

Short sqaureoff and they lunge in. Looked like Verot tried to throw a punch when he lunged, but missed. Domi threw one punch over Verots's head, but missed as well. Verot falls and tries to get up, but Domi pushes him down to ice. Refs come in and grab Verot while Domi hits him with one right then a left uppercut.

Verot shoulders Hordichuk in front of the Panthers' bench and the drops them instantly. Verot lands a right to the side of Hordi's head, then misses or grazes another. Hordichuk throws a right to a ducking Verot's shoulder. They throw rights at the same time. Verot's grazing and Hordi's landing and knocking Verot to his knees. Hordi throws a right, then a body shot to Verot, who's trying to regain his balance. Hordi throws a downward right that misses. Verot gets up and gets tagged with another right, while his right just misses Hordichuk. Verot ducks and turns from the punch and Hordi catches Verot's shoulder with a right. They both throw rights that get caught up in each other's punches. They throw three rights in stereo with only Hordi's last seeming to put an off-balance Verot back to his knee. Other Penalties: Verot received a charging.

Verot and Roenick get two minutes for roughing. Verot comes out of the box and goes straight for Roenick, but Jeremy skates to the bench. Out comes the Fridge who makes a goes right for Verot. Verot throws a couple of shots fast. Fridge then lands a stuff left, but Darcy hangs in there and gets some of his own shots in there. The linesmen jump in quickly and Verot sneaks a few in after. Other Penalties: Verot received a misconduct; Fedoruk an instigator and misconduct.

Lindros gets crunched after he was skating into Washington's zone with his head down and on the ensuing faceoff he goes straight for Doig. They both drop em, Doig tries getting rid of the visor and Lindros has a death-grip on Doig. He didnt look to throw any punches. Doig threw maybe two rights off-balance that didn't connect. Lindros threw him down and that was it.

Starts off the faceoff in the Canes' zone to the right of Weekes. Verot throws some shots going in, nothing looked to seriously land. Boughner throws one or two light punches right at the tie-up, one lands, but nothing to it. Verot gets the back of Boughner's jersey behind his neck and backs Boughner to the boards near the corner. Both are throwing some shots that aren't getting around to the head. Boughner then slips another good shot to the face, but wasn't much behind it. Verot manages to get Boughner in a head-lock, and Boughner almost looks to try to suplex Verot WWE-style. Boughner backs out of the head-lock and has a great position (he's holding Verot from behind). They both sort of go down, not all the way, they bounce back up, and Boughner starts slinging punches, one or two land and Verot goes down. Boughner throws another one or two to the neck or head area after Verot goes down.

Doig rushes Cole and checks him practically into the Canes' bench. They both sling the gloves off, Cole grabs Doig's jersey and hangs on. Doig throws some roundhouses that catch shoulder. Doig gets Cole's jersey up around his head, and looks to land one really solid uppercut on Cole. Cole backs out of his jersey and grabs Doig and nearly wrestles him into the Canes' bench.

All Sarich in this one. Pettinger seemed hesitant to drop 'em after a late hit, but does anyway. Sarich easily over matched Pettinger switching hands and landing several flush shots. Pettinger was trying to punch with his right hand, but it was being held down, so Sarich just kept on hitting him clean in the face.

Doig hits a Cane player from behind and into the boards, then all the Canes go after him.Craig Adams is the first to go after Doig, and Boulerice barely misses crushing Doig with a hit from behind, then he tries to get at Doig, but Peat steps in and grabs Boulerice. Doig and Adams grapple, not much thrown. Peat and Boulerice don't throw any punches either. Other Penalties: Doig received a boarding; Jesse Boulerice a roughing.

Verot was throwing pretty good rights and St. Jacques went for one, but got caught with a right that put St. Jacques down for a second. To his credit he got back up and tossed Verot to the ice and hit Verot in the back of the head a few times. They both got up and just hold on. Other Penalties: Each player received a game misconduct.

Tootoo levels Semin at the Caps' blue line with an open ice hit. Tootoo starts pushing and shoving with a Cap after the hit. While he's pushing with one Cap, Verot comes over to challenge him. Tootoo accepts and they shed the gloves. Verot gets the fight started with a right that goes over Tootoo's head. While Verot is bringing his hand back, he removes Tootoo's helmet. Verot tries another right that goes over Tootoo's head again. Verot then throws a weak right that hits the back of Tootoo's neck. They throw simultaneous punches. Tootoo throws a left that hits Verot's shoulder or face, Verot's right comes under Tootoo's left and looks to hit Tootoo's chin or cheek pretty flush. Tootoo responds with a short left that lands flush and knocks down Verot. Verot gets back up and they grapple for a second or two before Tootoo takes down Verot. Tootoo might have landed a left to the back of Verot's head on the way down.

They bump in front of the penalty box and Verot slashes Tootoo. They both seem to drop the gloves at the same time. Tootoo sheds his lid after he drops his gloves and Verot does the same. They skate all the way from the near boards to the far boards during their square off, Verot has to remove his hair from his eyes. They finally dive in and start throwing rights. Each fighter throwing two or three rights. Verot and Tootoo both land punches. Tootoo then switches hands and throws two lefts, only one looked to land. They grapple for a second and Tootoo tries another left that goes over Verot's head. Tootoo gets Verot's jersey over his head after he misses the left. Verot then throw a blind right that hit's Tootoo's shoulder. Tootoo answers back with three rights. All three look like they probably hit Verot's face, but it's hard to tell because Verot's jersey is over his face. Verot somehow managed to get Tootoo's jersey over his head after Tootoo threw the third right. They are now both blind and Tootoo jerks Verot down to a knee. The linesmen come in and Verot tries a right over the linesmen and Tootoo tries to answer back with a left over the linesmen. Niether player's late punch seemed to do any damage. They finally break up and it's over. Tootoo was given a match penalty for having tape on his hand. Other Penalties: Tootoo received an attempt to injure match penalty.

These two are talking after a face off and eventually square off. Verot has a good hold of Barnaby's jersey and Barnaby is trying to throw punches. Verot throws three or four rights, hard to tell what connected. Barnaby is trying to get his arm out of his jersey, but Verot won't let him. Barnaby is totally tangled up in his jersey and Verot gets in a few shots before Barnaby falls backwards. Other Penalties: Verot received a slashing.

Murray checks Verot into the boards and they quickly drop em. Murray is throwing fast and furious, not much connecting, and Verot is throwing quick rights as well. Verot angles him off, with Murray throwing rights that are not landing or grazing the side of Verot's head. Verot pins Garth to the boards and is working on getting his helmet off. By the time this happens, the linesmen come in to break it up.

Doesn’t take Brown long to get into his first fight as a Sabre. He and Berry joust behind the play. They drop the gloves and grab on. Brown throws a right, then they separate and square off. They come together and Brown fires rights at Berry, who’s ducking to avoid them. He straightens up and they go toe to toe with rights, each landing some nice ones. Brown lands a heavy right to the side of the head and Berry decides to take it in-close. He lifts Brown’s jersey in front of his face (tearing it) and throws a right or two as the linesemen jump in.

Alexander Semin takes an extra jab at Adam Munro after he freezes the puck, prompting Mark Bell to give him a gloved punch to the back of the head. A scrum ensues and out of it come Vandermeer and Grand-Pierre already throwing punches. Vandermeer throws a right to start things off and Grand-Pierre returns fire with four straight rights. Vandermeer throws a couple of short rights and Grand-Pierre attempts two locked-out rights in response. Vandermeer counters with another right. Grand-Pierre misses with a right cross and Vandermeer takes advantage by throwing a flurry of five rights. They struggle to get loose for a moment until Grand-Pierre gets free and throws a right cross. Vandermeer returns fire with a right of his own to a smiling Grand-Pierre. They then go toe-to-toe with rights for a short while. Vandermeer throws two overhand lefts that come up short. Vandermeer then follows up with two right jabs and a left that connect just before the linesmen decide to intervene.

When the camera gets there, they are squaring off at center ice. Each player grabs on with the left. They both throw simultaneous lefts while holding onto each other's jersey. Both lefts land, but have little force behind them. They enter the spin-cycle and Moen tries a right that hits Berry's left shoulder. The spinning caused Berry to go to a knee and Moen tries another right while he's getting up that hits Berry's helmet. They straighten back up and both players have a hold with the left hand still. After a couple of seconds with nothing happening, Berry looks to surprise Moen with a left while holding onto Moen's jersey. Berry's left jars Moens head back. Moen tries to answer with a quick right that hits Berry's left shoulder. Berry responds with a right of his own that hits Moen's left shoulder. Berry then lands another right to Moen's shoulder and they start to go into the spin-cycle again. Moen tries a left while holding onto Berry's jersey, but it comes up short. Moen then tries a right that comes up short. Still in the spin-cycle and Berry tries a right that hits Moen's shoulder. Moen comes back with a right to Berry's helmet. Berry goes with the right again and gets nothing but helmet. They exit the spin-cycle just in time for Moen to throw a right that hits nothing but helmet. Berry tries to come over the top with a right, but it comes up short by a foot. They grapple for a second or two. Moen hits Berry's helmet again with a right. They then throw simultaneous rights. Berry's was pretty short, but looked like it landed flush, while Moen's right knocked Berry's helmet off. Moen then lands a right to the side of Berry's head. Berry then tries three left jersey-punches, all coming up short. They then decide to enter the spin-cycle for a third time. Berry tries a right that hits Moen's left shoulder. They start with grappling off the faceoff, then Norton starts the throwing with one or two big rights that connect. Norton then gets bent over and Lessard lands three big lefts to the top of the noggin and Norton goes to the ice, probably from a combination of balance and Lessard pounding with some downward swings.

Big scrum at the end of the period and these two chose to go. A lot of holding and grabbing. Pettinger landed an uppercut and three lefts then Mironov swings wildly, grabs on and takes him down. Other Penalties: Alexander Semin, Jeff Halpern and Jozef Balej each received a roughing.

Focht slams Stroshein with a hit, Stroshein goes after Focht. They drop them and go. From the start Stroshein can't get his left free and Focht is throwing some weak lefts and lands a couple. Stroshein then chucks a right and they fall off-balance. Stroshein gets up while Focht is on his knees and he doesn't throw any at Focht.
