Comments: In a scrum along the boards Tamer and Krygier are pushing and shoving and Witt grabs onto Tamer and the gloves come off. Pretty busy start to the fight as each player throws a couple of wild rights. They get in-close and grapple some. Witt shoves Tamer against the boards. Witt gets loose with the right and throws four rights. The first three hit helmet or shoulder, but the fourth hits the side of Tamer's head. Tamer then locks Witt out and throws four rights of his own, with one connecting to the side of Witt's head. Witt tries to answer back with a right, but the right turns into more of a headlock and Witt pulls Tamer to the ice and it's over. Other Penalties: Petr Nedved and Todd Krygier each received a roughing.

Comments: Long square off. They spin for about 15 seconds before Cairns grabs on. Cairns throws four rights, two land to the back of Berube's head. Berube gets going with the right, missing one, then landing two. They spin and both land shots at the same time. They do the same thing again, but this time Berube's shot lands square dropping Cairns.

Comments: It starts in the corner. They start to spin and exchange rights. While they are spinning Laus gets his right hand out of his jersey and throws an uppercut that lands flush to Berube's chin. The impact takes Berube off his feet! Laus has a good grip on Berube's jersey so he goes down with Berube and the fight is over.

Comments: They skate up next to each other while entering Whalers' zone, have a few words, then shove in front of the Capitals net until they finally drop the gloves. Simon throws two lefts to start, both hitting helmet. Janssens answers with three quick lefts, all landing, making Simon slide to one knee. He quickly gets back up and they trade 10-15 lefts, some look to land with no damage. They tire and hold each other off until the linesmen step in.

Comments: Malkoc puts a nice slash on Allison and Allison responds with his gloves dropped. They grapple and Malkoc wrestles Allison down and they get back up quickly. Malkoc lands 5-6 lefts as they spin around, two landing well. They grapple around some more and Allison gets Malkoc's helmet off and lands 4-5 straight right, one being a really nice shot. Malkoc responds with two lefts. Malkoc starts swinging wild lefts, out of about four, maybe one lands. However Malkoc whipped Allison down to a knee, but Allison bounces back up and lands a glancing blow. Allison looks like he calls it a night and falls underneath Malkoc who then falls on top of him. The linesmen come in and pull them off each other.

Comments: The linemen are busy dealing with a scrum and these two decide to go. Nice, long square off with a little shadow boxing. The both lock horns and it is serious toe-to-toe time. Both start landing rights at the simultaneously. At first Poeschek's are landing higher, but both are landing. After 6-7 rights the Chief starts landing the better shots, cutting Poeschek. They are in a slow spin and are still landing rights. Poesheck loses his helmet and they tie up a bit. Berube throws four more, three land, one a solid shot, before Berube wrestles Poeschek down towards the board. Berube didn't have him down firmly because while the linemen are breaking them up you see Poesheck land a hunched-over right hand. As Berube skates off you can see he is also bloody, around his mouth. Excellent fight. Other Penalties: Sergei Gonchar received a roughing; Dino Ciccarelli a double roughing.

Comments: Behind the play they go, and right off the bat it's toe-to-toe! Witt has already had his helmet taken off and he takes off Kordic's with a right. They go right for right with each throwing 6-8 punches. Witt lands a right that causes Kordic's head to snap back a bit. Kordic's best shot was a straight right to Witt's mouth. They turn around and switch hands. Kordic throws three lefts with only one landing. Witt gets his going and lands 4-5 lefts of his own. Kordic counters with three lefts, one of them a solid shot. They grapple, do a slow turn and then they go at it again! Kordic lands five straight rights to Witt's two or three. Kordic then pushes Witt back into the boards and the linemen step in. Kordic is cut from the nose. Great fight. Other Penalties: Kordic received an instigator and misconduct.
