Oct 18, 2003 3pd 07:44 Yannick Tremblay CHI Scott Nichol
Comments: Nichol nailed an Atlanta player along the near boards and then threw a punch at him. Tremblay jumps in to depfend his mate and Nichol drops his gloves and starts pounding away with the right hand. Tremblay's jersey gets pulled over his head and he's at Nichol's mercy at that point. The linesman are really late to break this fight up (they were watching Moen/Tamer), even though Nichol threw about ten shots at Tremblay without any resistance. The linesmen finally get in between them, leaving Moen and Tamer to have at each other. Moen gets his right hand free and tags Tamer with an overhand. Moen pulls the jersey over Tamer's head, so Tamer holds on for dear life, tying up Moen's arms. The linesman eventually intervene. Other Penalties: Nichol received a roughing.

Oct 18, 2003 3pd 11:09 Jeff Cowan CHI Kyle Calder
Comments: By this time, the game had been decided, so the Hawks have had it. As Chicago is breaking out, Kovalchuk holds up Bell by grabbing his stick. Bell slashes Kovalchuk, who tries to skate to the bench. Bell takes after him, spearing him in the chest, and following that up with a pretty good crosscheck to the head. Not surprisingly, everyone jumps into the fray. Cowan grabs a hold of Calder and throws two short punches with the left hand. Bell sees this and tries to save Calder, but a linesman has a hold of Bell, who's livid. Another Hawk, Vorobiev, tries to save Calder, but Randy Robitaille grabs him. Luckily, Cowan shows some restraint against Calder, and stops throwing, allowing the linesmen to jump in. During all this, Exelby drops his gloves and goes after Ruutuu and starts throwing left hands. Ruutuu seems to want no part of it, and tries to tie up Exelby. As the linesmen are breaking up Cowan and Calder, Ruutuu manages to throw some weak right hands at Exelby before falling to the ice.

Oct 30, 2003 1pd 11:37 Francis Lessard @MIN Matt Johnson
Comments: Matt and Francis jawwed each other after the Wild's first PP goal in the first, but the linesmen stepped in then. Following the second Wild PP goal both decide to have a go. Both were agressively punching, Johnson with the rights, Lessard with the lefts. Nothing damaging lands on either side before Lessard throws one that misses and goes down from momentum.

Nov 05, 2003 1pd 08:28 Francis Lessard @BUF Andrew Peters
Comments: Lessard and Peters meet at the face off and talk. Lessard drops the gloves first and throws a few rights. The lock for a moment and the start chucking. Toe to toe, Peters with the rights, Lessard with the lefts. The first few from Peters looked like they landed well, but both just continue throwing. They lock up again, go to break away and start throwing some more, but after a couple of throws Lessard loses his balance and falls. Lessard skates away with some marks and a little blood right outside his left eye towards his temple.

Comments: Starts from another scrum. Good little slugfest here. Cowan lands early with a left. Some wrestling and short punches before McDonnell comes back with a hard right on Cowan. Good back and forth, with at least one flush bomb landed by Cowan. McDonnell asks for it to end and the linesmen come in. Other Penalties: Cowan and McDonnell each received a misconduct; Chris Tamer and Tyler Wright each received a roughing; Jody Shelley a hooking.

Comments: Neil landed at least four or five solid shots right on Exelby's face, a couple of good uppercuts as well, and got in a few other helmet shots. Exelby managed to get Neil's helmet off, but not much else. He may have had one shot land cleanly. Exelby went down and they fell to the ice, with Neil on top.

Comments: Lessard is out at the end of the game and goes straight for Chara. Chara decides to go as he has little choice. He starts with three big rights that cut open Lessard. Lessard finally gains some composure and responds with a couple of good lefts. Chara went down in a non-TKO style.

Comments: Three seconds left in the game and these two decide to go. Camera got there a little late. They had each other tied up and Exelby threw a couple of rights and Odelein threw a couple of lefts, none of which landed. Exelby switched hands and tried to get the left going and Odelein's jersey came up over his head. The linesmen jumped in quickly. Nov 25, 2003 2pd 06:22 Chris Tamer OTT Karel Rachunek
Comments: Rachunek gives Kovalchuk a rough ride into the boards and Kovalchuk retaliates. Rachunek skates away and Tamer gives him a few words by the benches. Alfredsson comes in and everyone starts pushing. Rachunek talks a lot of smack when theres a big group, but then Tamer got loose and they hugged along the boards. Didn't think they would start going but they literally hugged for about 20 seconds as the linesmen stood there thinking about coming in, they didn't and Tamer got his right free and threw one to the turtling Rachunek. As they were laying on the ice, Savard leaned over the bench and squirted some water in Tamer's mouth, pretty funny way to end it.

Nov 25, 2003 2pd 17:26 Garnet Exelby OTT Shane Hnidy
Comments: After the whistle Hnidy is standing to close to Nurminen and Exelby gives him a couple of shots. They don't drop the gloves, but hug onto each other as the rest of the players on the ice start pushing. There's a linesmen between these two, but he then lets them go. They dropped the gloves and grabbed on behind the net. They grapple for position and Exelby tries a right, then Hnidy tries a left, they spin around and Hnidy threw two rights that might have connected and they grapple some more. Exelby then gets the left free and tries to throw one, but Hnidy loses his balance and falls to the ice. Hard to tell if anything they threw landed cleanly because the refs blocking the camera angle.

Exelby gets his gloves off and tries to get posistion, they spin around and Nolan feeds him a couple lefts and Exelby fires back with two connecting lefts of his own. Nov 29, 2003 2pd 05:49 Francis Lessard TAM Andre Roy
Comments: Off the faceoff, Roy and Lessard drop the gloves. A flurry of lefts from Lessard at the beginning, looks like most are hitting helmet. Roy is throwing a couple of rights that appear to be missing, but possibly one landing. They then get in tight and try a couple of small punches and end up hanging over the Tampa Bay bench. Looked like Lessard had a little blood on the side of his head, near the helmet. Didn't look like anything major connected really.

Dec 05, 2003 1pd 06:13 Francis Lessard ANA Garrett Burnett
Comments: Puck drops, and the gloves drop just as fast. No squareoff, they just dive right in and start chucking. When the grab on Burnett's jersey comes up, and all he's got on are sleeves, easy to see it wasn't tied down. About ten seconds of toe-to-toe action, Lessard stuck with the left, Burnett started with the right and quickly switched to the left. Each player seemed to land, and it was very easy to see one power punch from Burnett landing squarely, but Lessard seemed to eat it up. They get in close, Burnett attempts to get Lessard bent over, so Lessard goes for the takedown. Other Penalties: Burnett received a game misconduct.

Comments: Cowan has some words for Kvasha, who was given a goaltender interference penalty for knocking over Nurminen. Cairns comes in to say hello and it's broken up. It's now 3 on 3 and these two are still out there for the faceoff, so you know it's coming. The puck drops, and they squareoff. It looks even, some ok shots by both. Cowan gets in a couple of shots as Cairns also lands some ok ones. Cairns is trying to get his right hand out of his sleeve. He does, and throws two uppercuts. Cowan's already bent over, and it appears the uppercuts landed on the top of Cowan's head, and Cowan goes down.

Dec 21, 2003 1pd 10:07 Ron Petrovicky PHI Jim Vandermeer
Comments: Petro takes a 30-foot run at Vandy as the puck is cleared and Vandy gives Petro a little slash and off with the gloves. They have a short squareoff as they both taunt each other, asking to come in first. Finally they come together and Vandy takes control, landing two lefts. They tie up, Vandy switches to the right and throws about three, two landing, one hitting shoulder. Petro tries a right that is short. Then Vandy pops Petro with a left that sends him off-balance. As he falls to a knee Vandy feeds him about five more lefts as the linesmen come in.

Comments: Tamer goes for retaliation after Souray knocks Ben Simon down. They drop em near Theodore. Souray gets rid of his right elbow pad quickly, but Tamer has him tied up pretty well. Not a lot of throwing, more wrestling, and Souray sneaks in a punch and brings Tamer down. He gets back up, and Souray threw a few more punches as they both go down again. Jan 03, 2004 3pd 05:55 Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre @MON Michael Komisarek
Comments: The Habs are up 4-0 in the third period and JLGP throws a check on Komisarek who takes exception. They have a bit of a coversation and decide its time to shed the gloves. Komisarek throws a short left that may or may not have landed than he grabs onto the jersey of Grand Pierre, pulling it completely over his head. It didn't appear that JLPG was tied down, but there was no penalty called by the referee. When the jersey comes off JLGP throws a couple of nothing shots that don't land and then goes for the takedown.

Comments: Petrovicky throws a cheap hit on Joey Juneau which prompts Darren Langdon to give him a punch to the back of the head. Petrovicky swings his stick at Langdon's head than Chris Tamer comes in to grab Langdon, but the linesmen keep them apart. Stephane Quintal comes in to defend Langdon and very politely makes sure that Petrovicky drops the gloves. Quintal is trying to throw while Petro is holding on. Quintal is landing with both lefts and rights, but Petro is throwing some punches as well. None seeming to do much damage, but it was mostly in Quintal's control. Other Penalties: Darren Langdon received a roughing and cross checking; Petrovicky an interference and double high sticking; Chris Tamer a roughing.

Comments: These two drop em in the Atlanta zone and start firing lefts. Perrott throwing about two before the camera gets close enough to see if they're landing, and Lessard is without his lid. Lessard's left hits Perrott's shoulder as Perrott has his left firing. He lands three off the top of Lessard's head while Lessard's three blind ones come up short. A ducking Lessard lands a blind left to Perrott's face, and then lands a hard short left to Perrott's face stunning him and buckling his knees. Perrott falls to the ice with Lessard on top.

Feb 05, 2004 3pd 13:47 Francis Lessard PHI Todd Fedoruk
Comments: These two drop the gloves in front of the Philadelphia net and Lessard gets started quickly with three lefts. Fedoruk comes back with a few lefts of his own before Lessard again gets a the left going and lands nicely. They tie up briefly, but quickly get loose and land several lefts each. At this point they open up and are throwing large left haymakers that aren't landing cleanly. After another brief tie up, Fedoruk gets the advantage and lands a few hard lefts that open Lessard up pretty severely above his eye. Lessard responds with a few parting shots over the top, but the damage was done in a great heavyweight battle.

Feb 13, 2004 3pd 19:25 Ron Petrovicky @VAN Bryan Allen
Comments: With the game out of reach in the last minute Petro's talking to Cloutier in front of the net and grabs his stick. Cloutier goes at Ron throwing before dropping his equipment. Everyone starts to pair off as the linesmen and refs come in and Allen and Petro wind up with each other. It looks like Petro and Allen are content to just hold on to each other, but Petro then decides to throw a right that catches Allen off-guard. The right hit a combination of helmet and face. Allen tries to get loose with a couple of punches, but doesn’t land any. Allen then tries two left uppercuts, one may have landed, the other comes up short. Petro tries to answer back with a right over the top that goes over Allen’s head. Allen and Petro then exchange a few short rights, none of the punches really doing any damage. Allen then gets Petro bent over and tries two or three uppercuts, but it looks like those come up short, maybe one lands. They then tie up, move in close and the linesmen come in.

Mar 17, 2004 1pd 02:58 Francis Lessard BUF Eric Boulton
Comments: This happens immediately off the faceoff right after Peters-Brennan. Lessard might have gotten a quick jump, but no instigator here. They get in tight and spin a little. Some lefts by both. Boulton landed one in tight, but then Lessard swung him around by the boards and got him with a left for the knockdown.

Mar 17, 2004 2pd 12:28 Ivan Majesky BUF Adam Mair
Comments: Big scrum, as Brown throws Kovalchuk down in front of the net at the end of the play. Bartovic punches Kovalchuk right in the face. Kovalchuk goes nuts and jumps onto his back, hammering him with gloved punches. Somewhere in there, Mair and Majesky pair off. Neither party seems too interested. Mair throws a left, Majesky a right or two. Mair gets thrown down, but they're allowed to get up and continue. Mostly more grappling, a right thrown by Majesky, then Mair lands a big left, and that's pretty much it. Other Penalties: Randy Robitaille received a goaltender interference; Milan Bartovic a cross checking; Ilya Kovalchuk a roughing and high sticking.

Mar 17, 2004 2pd 15:16 Kip Brennan BUF Brad Brown
Comments: Right in front of the net, bodies all around, the gloves come off and Brennan gets in two early rights that appear to land. Brown goes to a knee and then gets up. He tries to come back and then goes down after Brennan lands another. He tries to get back up, but the linesman grabs him.

Mar 17, 2004 3pd 01:40 Ron Petrovicky BUF Jeff Jillson
Comments: Petro clips Dumont. Jillson immediately skates over, drops the gloves, and away we go. In close, Jillson throws two right uppercuts. They grapple, and Petro starts firing rights and overwhelms Jillson, who begins to drop his head. Jillson pops up and lands a right. A few more rights from Petrovicky, and it's mostly hugging now. Jillson gets one more uppercut in and it's broken up. Other Penalties: Petrovicky received a clipping; Jillson an instigator and misconduct; Thrashers receive a too many men on the ice penalty.

Mar 26, 2004 1pd 18:56 Andy Sutton NJD Colin White
Comments: Gionta is cross checked hard in front of the Thrashers' net and bounces back up not impressed he goes after Majesty. Colin White comes over and eventually everyone else joins the scrum in front of the net. A few moments later Sutton and White are paired off with Sutton throwing rights early. White is mostly holding on but gets in a few shots as well, hard to tell if anyone landed anything. White goes for the takedown and Sutton spins him as they fall, going on top of White and throwing a couple punches while they're down. Other Penalties: Patrick Elias a roughing and misconduct; Brian Gionta a cross checking; Shawn McEachern a double roughing; Ivan Majesky a roughing.

Mar 26, 2004 2pd 05:12 Ben Simon NJD Erik Rasmussen
Comments: Simon takes a run at Rasmussen next to the Thrashers bench, but he's the one that goes down. Rasmussen gives him a shot to the back of the helmet. Simon responds with a gloved punch. Rasmussen drops them and starts firing away with rights. Simon was hanging on for most of the fight.

Mar 27, 2004 2pd 08:24 Garnet Exelby @FLA Lyle Odelein
Comments: After the play, Odelein is poking at Lehtonen and Exelby throws a gloved-left to Odelein's chest to get him away from his goalie. Odelein drops the gloves and grabs Exelby, then they hug and try to get position. Ends with them holding on and the linesmen step in. Not sure if anything was thrown or landed, mostly jockeying for position.

Apr 02, 2004 2pd 04:14 Ivan Majesky PIT Ryan Malone
Comments: Malone is being worked over in front of the Thrashers net on a power play. After the whistle he takes an extra whack and Majesky grabs him in a headlock. Malone comes up and throws his gloves off and ends up ducked down as Majesky holds him down. Malone tries a left around the bearhug, but it hits Majesky on his name. Majesky tries to toss him, but Malone stays up. Majesky then throws about six uppercuts into Malone with a few apearing to land, then drives him to the ice.
