Comments: A scrum develops in front of the Thrashers' net and out of it comes Battaglia and Coburn who have dropped the gloves and are grappling for position. They continue to wrestle around until they get up along the boards where Coburn gets in a right uppercut. Battaglia gets free and comes across with a right. Coburn comes back with a couple of body shots. Battaglia then throws two rights and Coburn fires off two uppercuts. Battaglia throws another right an attempts a locked-out uppercut just before the linesmen intervene and end the fight. Other Penalties: Coburn received a roughing.

Comments: With a minute left in the second period, Coburn checks Zach Parise into the boards from behind and receives a boarding penalty. The third period begins and Coburn collides with Rupp along the boards during his next shift after serving the penalty. Rupp challenges Coburn and the two drop the gloves, shed the helmets, and square off at the blueline. Rupp grabs ahold of Coburn and connects with two straight rights, the second sending Coburn straight to the ice. Rupp gets in two more while Coburn is down and the linesmen quickly move in to grab Rupp and break things up.
