With a minute left in the second period, Coburn checks Zach Parise into the boards from behind and receives a boarding penalty. The third period begins and Coburn collides with Rupp along the boards during his next shift after serving the penalty. Rupp challenges Coburn and the two drop the gloves, shed the helmets, and square off at the blueline. Rupp grabs ahold of Coburn and connects with two straight rights, the second sending Coburn straight to the ice. Rupp gets in two more while Coburn is down and the linesmen quickly move in to grab Rupp and break things up.

Braydon Coburn vs Michael Rupp

Coburn pushes Parise hard into the boards, and soon after that, Rupp comes over and challenges Coburn. They exchange a couple shoves, and decide to drop the gloves, remove their helmets, and start to square off. They grab on, and Rupp throws two solid rights, both connecting, sending Coburn straight to the ice. While Rupp is on top of Coburn, he throws one last right, and the linesmen move in. Coburn skated off with a mouthful of blood.
