looked like he jumped in the air and did a 180- how is that not a charging? i dont give a shit about either team so dont pull that with me.

Posted by omorales on December 10, 2008 at 01:39 PM

it can't be a fight if a guy still has his stick and gloves, Arnott got pi$$y 'cause he got hit, this was a complete crap altercation, no winner

Posted by Remyy on December 10, 2008 at 01:51 PM

nice hit.

Posted by Reverend Kane on December 10, 2008 at 09:33 AM

What are you goons watching? Burrows left his feet after the initial collision. The momentum caused him to elevate - plain and simple, watch it again. I'd take Burrows on my team anyday, comparing him to a Hollweg or Tootoo isn't even close. Burrows gets points as well. Next Dumont won't be a dummy and have his head down.

Posted by thebigbea55 on December 10, 2008 at 02:41 AM

was this even a fight?? it was only a jump from behind by arnott.. burrows does his job.. get arnott off the ice..

Posted by 7gr1 on December 10, 2008 at 03:24 AM

I can't in any way justify giving Arnott the win for that gutless attack. I understand the retribution for that big (and admittedly questionable) hit, but he broke the cardinal rule, you DO NOT hit someone when they're down, and they show him taking full swings at Burrows when he's on the ice.

Posted by flyerfighter73 on December 10, 2008 at 08:50 AM

That is how you police yourself and your teamates. good job Arnott i don,t care if you jumped him or hit him when he was down. that sent a message that your team won't stand for that type of hit. Old school hockey. Take care of things yourself.

Posted by Ripper20 on December 10, 2008 at 07:55 AM

I'm not sure exactly what some of you guys are seeing here. Burrows did leave his feet, which should have been called ( but when has it ever been called? ) but he kept the elbow down and his arm was tucked in when delivering the hit. Other than that, it's a good hit. The replay showing Burrows starting from his own goal line shows the possibility of a charge, but again, how often does that get called anymore? Arnott gets the win here in a crap fight, because Burrows does his typical candy ass cover up as punches fly his way.

Posted by CReynolds105 on December 10, 2008 at 01:31 AM

How big of a puss is burrows? first you take a cheapshot at dumont. then he turtles up against the boards when arnott comes looking to kick his tail. stand up and take the beating you deserve like a man. and as good a fighter as o'brien is, he doesnt stand a chance with a pissed off arnott.

Posted by mouthguardin on December 13, 2008 at 03:31 AM

As usual Arnott picked a fight with someone he thought he could beat for sure. The best fight I saw Arnott fight was when he picked a fight with little Scott Walker "when Scott played for the Canucks". I loved it because little Scotty Walker kicked Arnott's ass, and he was so embarrassed by it.

Posted by Dampland on December 10, 2008 at 08:00 PM

BURROWS is another cheap ass piece of shit. He takes cheap shots on people and then turtles. Wish Arnot could have pounded him more.

Posted by oilersfansylvan on December 10, 2008 at 12:19 AM

Throw Stortini in there maybe Avery and those guys in St Louis calling it and ya got a complete waste of time......yawn shoulda been penalized for BAD acting never mind Majors

Posted by HillbillyHockey on December 09, 2008 at 11:52 PM

Arnott had to step up since the refs are freakin blind. A guy cheap shots Dumont by leaving his feet with his elbow up. Burrows turtles like a wuss. Burrows will get what's coming to him when they play again.

Posted by Warcraft3 on December 10, 2008 at 10:08 PM

I cant stand Burrows

Posted by BROWN - KOCUR on December 10, 2008 at 10:09 PM

WHo were the idiot announcers who needed 12 replays before seeing he left the ice to make the hit ? Burrows is a cheap coward who dug a hole in the ice to escape Arnott after yet another cheap shot. If you're going to play dirty have the sacks to back it up douche.

Posted by hughcares on December 10, 2008 at 09:55 AM

I didn't know Dumont was untouchable - for you morons who don't like hitting - go watch figure skating. Good hit by Burrows - show up to the fight next time.

Posted by jodan111 on December 10, 2008 at 03:22 AM

Burrow either needs to bulk up or learn to stay on his skates when he goes in for a hit because he is not big enough to back up his cheap checks with his fists. Good to see Arnott take him on for that shot. Someone should have done the same to Davidson for his cheap shot on Nichol earlier. Davidson's skates flew up off the ice as he shot his shoulder straight at Nichol's head on that play.

Posted by blackgoldfan on December 10, 2008 at 08:00 PM

did he leave his feet....duh yeah i think so. this is a dirty hit. i don't mind when players respond with a fight after a dirty hit. infact i like it. good on arnot even though he gave burrows no chance. but he didn't really deserve one. needless to say if you throw a dirty hit (or any hit at all this season) you better be ready to drop em.

Posted by Maxwerm on December 10, 2008 at 12:17 PM

Burrows didn't hit him nearly as hardd as it it seemed at first. He needed to be taken care of, for sure, but not jumped. Burrows with the clear lose, but he didn't turtle, he got mugged. Haters can s*ck it. It's a violent game - grow a sack you f*cking crybabies. Arnott wins, Preds lose. Choke on that.

Posted by Towmater on December 10, 2008 at 11:18 AM

no fight, just a deserved mugging, that hit was dirty, he jumped about 2 feet in the air and elbowed his head,

Posted by balth on December 10, 2008 at 02:40 AM

stephenandrobyn, you're obviously a team man, and I can respect that being a fan of my own team, however being a fan of hockey and not just my team, you have to watch the numerous angles of this replay and see that Burrows clearly crossed the line with this hit. Obviously not a clean hit when you leave your feet, and raise the arm to the face. stephenandrobyn, I read your review on the Peverley fight as well, and I wasn't at the game and the video doesn't clearly show if that was a clean hit or not. Either way, it was a massive hit, and there are times that teams have to show that they just won't take that laying down. Hitting is part of hockey, I understand that, but when you see a teamate go down like Nichol did, I'm sure the adrenaline and protective nature all hockey players have for their teamates kicks in. It's part of hockey. My frustration comes towards the refs for not calling Burrows for a penalty, I guess the league will handle that post game. I don't blame them for following hockey's current rule of instigator, as Arnott clearly did in this situation, but he wouldn't have had to if the refs did their job and called crap like that. The instigator rule is something else that we could all discuss, but it's currently part of the sport we love, we've got to learn to deal with it. Please please do your jobs refs.

Cheapshot by Burrows. God i hate that guy

Posted by MNBonecrusher on December 10, 2008 at 08:52 AM

God Burrows is a spineless punk! I just hope he gets what he has coming to him. I would LOVE to see someone take him out so hard that he never plays the game again. They would be doing the hockey world a favor.

Posted by bruins rule on December 10, 2008 at 06:56 AM

great to see jason arnott come to his teamates defense.

Posted by cmshort11 on December 11, 2008 at 12:14 AM

Flying Elbow.

Posted by BSTnougat on December 10, 2008 at 06:59 PM

Didnt really see a fight here. Saw Arnott being a good teammate and punching a guy on the ground who gave someone a flying elbow. Thought he deserved worse. (I didnt think either of these teams had fans, especially the predators. So its nice to see people getting fired up about somethin so little)

Posted by Gunslinger on December 10, 2008 at 06:38 AM

Typical Vineault(spelled wrong)coached cheap shot hockey. Burrows left his feet and then turtled. Lousy player, lousy play. It only took the announcers a half dozen replays to see that Burrows left his feet. Try it with your eyes open boys. Hey Batman and Robin, how many goals do the nucks score during the 7 minute powerplay?

Posted by Sasky001 on December 10, 2008 at 09:29 AM

I'm glad Arnott didn't stop punching the Canuck when he was down. There is no cardinal rule when you are defending a team mate against an "agitator" who wouldn't be in the league if he didn't cross the line every game. As for jumping the Canuck, Arnott had no choice since the Canuck tried to pull a Canuck and skate away. Thank god Trevor Linden retired so he doesn't have to see what filth the Canucks have become.

Posted by thew7 on December 11, 2008 at 05:46 PM

the idiot announcers ("I dont think he left his feet") are the most entertaining part of that video.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on December 10, 2008 at 09:35 AM

I guess the tilt goes to aarnott, but how can you call it a fight when only 1 player drops the gloves?

Posted by CairnsIsGod33 on December 10, 2008 at 02:53 AM

You would expect Arnott to have a little more control rather than jumping a guy but imo it was the right thing to do. Burrows never had a chance. I would have liked to see the Obi Vs Arni fight though.

How did the girl burrows not get called for a charge?

Posted by Fightsfan748 on December 10, 2008 at 05:00 PM

All the Canucks know how to do is cheapshot players

Posted by burns08 on December 10, 2008 at 01:40 AM

Burrows again shows that he's the biggest pansy in the NHL. He likes to start crap but cowers when he has to fight. Burrows is a joke. Arnott wins, and I only wish he would've had more time to pummel Burrows. think leaving your feet and bringing elbows to the face is a clean hit? Are you kidding me? And no offense, but if fighting in hockey wasn't made for situations like this than what's the point of it. The fact that you think Arnott is an idiot for doing what he did shows that you either have blue balls for Burrows or you simply haven't a clue about hockey.

Posted by PredsFan189 on January 23, 2009 at 12:57 AM

This was a horrible game where the refs just wouldn't do their job. The result is a bunch of cheap shots from the Canucks, and Nichol is still out with a concussion almost two months later. If you leave your feet to make the hit, you should get the penalty. If you also cause injury, you should at least get the major, and maybe more. Instead, the Canucks get a 7 minute PP and eventually go on to win the game. And Burrows is only encouraged to continue with the cheap shots. Hockey is a rough enough game already, and I like to see good clean hits as much as the next guy, but there's no place for jumping so you can put a flying elbow to the head.

Posted by bruiser11 on December 09, 2008 at 10:49 PM

burrows is a B**tch 4 throwing that shot at dumont, who has never been in a fight in his life, but that jus shows U what kind of a player burrows really is, I love 2 see others go after people like avery, ott, burrows, tootoo, hollweg and so on cause people like these ain't true heivyweights!! this is a joke that burrows got no penalty here!..remove that instigator penalty now!

Posted by nighthawk walt on December 10, 2008 at 07:59 PM

burrows-so left his feet on hit,he almost jumped over him.arnott got in some godd punches before the rugby

Posted by mrmedia99 on December 10, 2008 at 06:38 PM

Burrows turtuled like a school girl.. wuss...I was there.. and he continued to skate out of he knew he got away with a cheap shot then wouldnt man up and defend himself..

Posted by nstars27 on December 13, 2008 at 01:13 PM

I guess Burrows can only drop his gloves when Pierre -Marc Bouchard is on the ice. Please get rid of the instigator and Kesler and Burrows will start thinking before they do these cheap shots.

Posted by Screaming Buffalo on December 10, 2008 at 02:05 AM

Burrows is a bitch and always has been.

Posted by gdameo on December 10, 2008 at 10:57 AM

Did Burrows get any penalty on the cheap hit? It doesn't matter if his elbow was down or not, he jumped so obviously, he was aiming for the head. That was cheap. Props to Arnott for beating him. I like this kind of hockey but I don't like the cheap hits.

Posted by REGZ88 on December 10, 2008 at 06:18 PM

I tip my cap to Arnott. Taking a stand for his teammate as a dirty hit by burrows. Van City better be careful, Nashville is a tough team and a dirty hit like that can set them off. O'Brien can protect Vancouver so much. Oh and also, TAKE OUT THE INSTIGATOR!!!!!

Posted by JKubota on December 11, 2008 at 08:15 PM

Burrows can't leave his feet like that and not expect to have to defend himself. Arnott did a good job of sticking up for his teammate.

Posted by BooSanta on December 10, 2008 at 12:34 PM

Burrows launched himself 3 ft in the air to elbow JP. Absolute cheapshot. Beatdown coutesy of Arnott. Burrows turtled on the attack. This is why their will be fighting in this league. The fact that Burrows wasn't penalized is cause for vomiting. Check the schediules for when these 2 meet again. I'll fly out to watch it. O'Brien and Arnott will likely drop'em

Posted by mjb_17 on December 10, 2008 at 12:18 PM

Wow where to start, after reading some of the idiotic comments posted it's a wonder some people that visit this site watch hockey at all. This was a clear dirty hit...from the charge to leaving the feet. Burrows gets the beating that was coming to him. F uck i wish Arnott would keep hitting him while he's down. As for not liking hits, i love hits, clean hit! And as for Obrian beating Arnott....Belak would have delt with O'brian later!

Posted by Bourne0829 on December 10, 2008 at 12:05 AM

Burrows is a little bitch, you see he pretty much got scared and went down like a PU$$Y. Be a man and drop the gloves you chump! I give to the captain for Stepping up. Canucks suck Seven minute power play = to 0000000000. Last Season Tootoo Beat down Burrows once again he proves he is worth nothing. Empty Net Hey dumbass anyone can score that! Give it to Arnott a good beat down!

Posted by Hockeyfan1979 on December 10, 2008 at 06:58 PM

To all of you here at Which is a great forum for all of those who have actually played hockey in their life.MOst of you who post maybe played peewee. The rest of you idiots who continually add stupid ill advised comments please let me tell you that this fight demonstrates the need for fighting and kicking the crap out of punk players. These players like Burrows are a disgrace to the game. They hit people with intent to injure and turtle. Arnott did a great job of jumping in and trying to return the favor. Arnott is a hockey player. Burrows is someone who does not have the skill to remain an NHL player. He knows his only chance is to injure the opposition trough illegal tactics. These players get what they deserve eventually but, unfortunately it is often at the expense of the game itself. Well done Arnott!

Posted by stephenandrobyn on December 09, 2008 at 11:38 PM

Burrows throws a good clean hit, and Arnott jumps him and takes 7 minutes in penalties. Canucks win, Burrows gets the empty netter. Who's the idiot here? Seems Arnott is, hands down.

Posted by MrBaggins on December 11, 2008 at 07:10 AM

I find some of the reactions rather funny considering Burrows and Dumont are friends that work out together each summer. Yes he should have been given a 2 minute penalty, but he's not the headhunter some here are making him out to be.

Posted by canadian099 on December 10, 2008 at 02:19 PM

Alexander burrow telling the predators whats up.

Posted by marinermoose38 on December 11, 2008 at 12:18 AM

Burrows is a gutless puke, just like the rest of the lame Canucks!!

Posted by chad420 on December 13, 2008 at 12:13 PM

what a clusterf**k

Posted by preds321 on December 10, 2008 at 10:15 AM

As a Predators fan, I like to see Arnott coming to the aid of his Dumont. Burrows should have gotten a charging, but that was a lack of discipline on Arnott's part. And I just can't give a win to someone in a situation like this. One guy didn't even take off his gloves. This should be, and ALWAYS should be, a draw.

Posted by tiburon4 on December 10, 2008 at 07:58 PM

Alright: another mini-brawl! What a cheap shot by Arnott! Yet I'd still call it a draw.

Posted by slodrive on December 10, 2008 at 10:12 AM

Cheapshot by Arnott. The hit was borderline. Don't get too caught up in the 'jumping'. Guys, especially lighter ones, have to thrust off their feet. Momentum often causes their feet to lift off. Plus, anyone who knows anything about physics, or boxing, knows that planted feet give you leverage. Jumping takes some of the force away -- though can turn it into more of a head shot. Still -- pretty clean. Not worth the boneheaded reaction. And, O'brien would have pummeled him.

Posted by tim daddy on December 12, 2008 at 01:42 PM

not really a fight, but justice was served

Posted by tomales on December 12, 2008 at 01:54 AM

Posted by Barrel03 on December 10, 2008 at 09:06 PM

burrows jumped like 3 feet in the air, how can you say he didint leave his feet

Posted by blackngold on December 10, 2008 at 01:11 PM

Arnott telling the punk what's up.

Posted by outfallrock on December 10, 2008 at 06:15 PM

what a cheap hit, the funny thing is fighter or not, if Arnott hadn't jumped him Dumont probably could have kicked pussy Burrows' ass!

Posted by jcstokes on December 10, 2008 at 07:28 AM

Cheap hit. Clearly left his feet. Arnott's a veteran and does the right thing.

Posted by Daave on December 10, 2008 at 04:43 PM

Alexandre the Not-Quite-So-Great cleverly figured out that the refs weren't calling anything, and took advantage. Jason Freaking Arnott of all people pounded him once he realized the refs weren't going to throw the little blighter out. Then he wanted to take O'Brien out as well, for getting in the way. Looks suspiciously like a case of trying to injure the opposing team's leading scorer to me...I would not be surprised by a suspension, and it's quite outrageous that nothing was called on Burrows, and VAN ended up with a 7 minute PP.

Posted by SDJeffro on December 11, 2008 at 02:23 AM

Great to see Arnott knock that punk Burrows out. That hit was an absolute cheap shot and I would have done the same thing Arnott did!

Posted by omgitslafferty on December 10, 2008 at 04:25 PM

this is the kind of fighting that hockey doesn't need. ok i see that burrows took a cheap shot, but he got attacked from behind by arnott. if you attack anyone from behind, they will get owned, and as much as the hit by burrows is bad, an assault is even worse.

Posted by FlyerPhanatic on December 10, 2008 at 01:54 AM

Where was the fight? That was Arnott just whoppin Burrows for the chep shot. Got to give the win to Arnott for doing the right thing.

Posted by claire alexande on December 10, 2008 at 05:02 PM

How did the Vancouver Capunks fan club get control of this site? Anyone who thinks Burrows didn't leave his feet, elbows flying, to try and crush a skill player smaller than himself is blind. Anyone who thinks Arnott wasn't fully justified in pounding the little fa**ot is simply incorrect. This is becoming a real trend with the Capunks, and the league needs to take action against the coach and/or GM. Arnott could handle himself against O'Brien, who, true to Capunk tradition, would run away to mommy, if a real battler came after him. Do you think Burrows will show his face the next time these teams play?

Posted by frickass on December 10, 2008 at 10:27 PM

how is this even on here burrows had a huge hit and arnott was a pussy and tried to sucker him preds blow
