In days of old this would have been a 5 or 6 but this isn't exactly the golden age of hockey pugalism. We take what we can get. Dillon rattled Hathaway early but the latter scrambled back into it. Both guys landed some serious shots. A decent showing by Dillon and one of the best fights we've seen this year in San Jose, which, admittedly, is not a high bar.

Started looking like Dillon was feeding Hathaway breakfast, lunch and dinner. Either Hathaway can take a punch or most of them were marshmallows. Turns out it was potluck as Hathaway brought his own food to serve. draw

Slight edge to Dillon in a FOTY candidate. This would have been a real dandy if they had agreed to lose the lids. I think the visor saved Dillon from being KO, or at least TKO.

Good to the Flames playing so good at end of year when it really counted. Burke still living off his lucky Ducks cup. Hathaway lands best punch at end of fight and Dillon taps out after it so he gets the win. Most punches in a fight doesn't win the fight. The guys that goes in locker room to get his nose straightened out loses.

I usually comment on here just to get at everyone ratting these bad fights so high ,but this one wasn't that bad . Still not close to an 8 but it was a decent scrap they deff didn't hold back . I get mad when i see these fights rated so high but i guess it is what it is this is today's nhl i just hope it comes back some how . Hockey then hockey fights were my first loves in life so it's so hard to watch these days I'm 38 and i believe i seen the best era for HF. Probert , domi, kocur, Dave brown and the list goes on . The 70s was the best for brawls it was just wild but the kids watching that were the guys who i named and they perfected the craft . I miss those guys and days so bad any way decent scrap but what happens when there actually is a no joke fight what do u rat it here a 25

GET THESE DAMN FEMALES OFF NHL NETWORK, F ING HORRIBLE THEY ADD NOTHING

Posted by dogginit on March 25, 2018 at 07:46 AM

Dillon has one punch an uppercut and he just couldn't adjust when Hathaway finally started throwing when he got loose. Good think Dillon still had his lid on I think he would have got KO;d It was funny when Hathaway finally got loose and started throwing Dillon looks at the ref like ok stop it now lol.

This would have been a great bout but Bettmen and the insurance Companies have to ruin the game with helmets and visors , Now this is just an embarrassment .

Posted by surfmaster69 on March 26, 2018 at 12:51 PM

That was a lot better tilt than Kane and Hamonic. Dillon early and Hathaway late. Good job boys! Draw and a 7.

Posted by Nitetrain17 on March 25, 2018 at 03:53 PM

2 Rounds...each player won one...good one...unusual to see a real slugfest lately...

Posted by The Linkster on March 25, 2018 at 11:13 AM

Dillon early, Hathaway late. Draw & FOTY candidate

Posted by mrunohoo on March 25, 2018 at 02:34 PM

Wow.

Posted by Jellyczar on March 26, 2018 at 07:35 AM

Awesome back and forth power slug fest ...draw

Posted by rocky 1 on March 27, 2018 at 06:54 PM

Great fight.i call it the fight of the year! Both contestants chucking for the fences with a few landing solid.Neither guy gave up right to the end.First half belonged to Dillon and the second to Hathaway for a Draw!

Posted by Double Nickels on April 01, 2018 at 02:55 PM

Well done, boys. That'll be in the running for FOTY. Looked like Hathaway clocked Dillon right off the draw, but that might have stunned him more than Dillon because Dillon came right back and started feeding him. Hathaway wanted a knock out in that one, but Dillon defended the best way you can: punch. In the end, Dillon might have punched himself out, giving Hathaway the chance to comeback for the draw.

Great fight--reminded me of watching hockey in the 70s and 80s.

Posted by EK65 on March 25, 2018 at 10:33 PM

Fantastic tilt between the 2 guys as both guys stood in and threw bombs. The stick tap from Tanner Glass to Dillon was kind of cool as well. Draw & 8. Possible FOTY.

Fight of the year so far

Posted by Attikdrum on April 03, 2018 at 08:42 AM

Top 3 of the Year Thanks to Dillon and Hathaway, big start for Dillon but Hathaway came back strong and it was an open fights. BIG DRAW

Posted by arnsworth1026 on March 25, 2018 at 08:01 AM

I was tempted to give it a 10 because of all the crap we usually see, but I couldn't cause the refs broke it up.

Posted by ChirpMachine on October 30, 2018 at 11:25 AM

Fantastic bout. Hathaway's first shot was gorgeous but then Dillon came back a-swingin'. A solid, solid fight.

Posted by cardiffgiant on March 25, 2018 at 10:43 AM

Solid entry for for of the year. Dillon early and Hathaway late. Awesome fight.

Posted by nuckles88 on March 25, 2018 at 03:16 PM

Wow that is about as good as fights get! Just a good ol’ slug fest Haha draw and lots of sore nuckles and faces

Posted by NAILS13 on March 29, 2018 at 03:20 AM

Sure kid, show your stuff. Good luck next year. Your helmet's in the third row.

Posted by kranium62 on March 25, 2018 at 02:25 PM

Seriously if you count punches landed, I think Dillon wins - and that's why I go with edge Dillon, but got no problem with a draw. Dillon loves the uppercuts, you see it most of his fights. Now I didn't see what Hathaway looked like after the game, but Dillon was sporting some serious marks. I don't know if it was visor cuts along with knuckles but the kid definitely landed serious shots on Brenden. Didn't like the bush league sneaking one in at the end as the refs are coming in - another reason I give it edge Dillon. Fight of the year so far?

Posted by pooleyacht on March 30, 2018 at 11:58 AM

Really great fight considering the crap this league has turned into.

Posted by GreatMurray on March 25, 2018 at 07:08 AM

That's a hockey fight!!! Give it an 8 and it is an FOY candidate. I give a slight edge to Dillon because it appeared he landed more. But there was no backing out for Hathaway either. Good job boys!

DILLON

Posted by Itsjasonovak on March 26, 2018 at 12:47 PM

Dillons first (and probably last) Gordie Howe hatty

Posted by ToothDecay on March 25, 2018 at 02:38 PM

Calling this a draw is the "right thing" to do, but if this were scored within a boxing framework, this round would have gone to Hathaway. I've watched the fight damn near a dozen times and have felt Hathaway got the better of it each time

Posted by sedinfan on March 25, 2018 at 07:57 PM

Wow, Dillon looked like he was going to KO Hathaway, then Hathaway comes back with some bombs. Dillon might have had the edge, but with a rare good fight like that and no give up in Hathaway, have to score it a draw. It seemed that Dillon missed most of those early uppercut bombs as Hathaway's head only moved on one or two of wild swings and there were no marks.

Posted by wendel L on March 25, 2018 at 02:27 PM

Very good fight

Posted by Scatheist on March 26, 2018 at 10:57 AM

"Oh there's a fight, think I'll go to grab a beer" said no hockey fan ever! Great fight!

Posted by TrueBlue16 on March 26, 2018 at 04:08 PM

THIS IS A BOUT! Just throwin bombs all fight. No defense all offense, great Tay to Tay

Posted by robiscoolduh on March 26, 2018 at 05:28 AM

Awesome fight, Hathaway and Dillon are real good fighters

Posted by razor2013 on March 25, 2018 at 08:37 AM

Old fashionioned punch in the face contest. Dillon won with volume, hathaway won with accuracy. For that, i'll give it an honorable draw.

Posted by PrivateDynamo on March 25, 2018 at 06:44 PM

Should have dumped the lids like their counterparts.

Posted by The Bud Life on March 25, 2018 at 03:33 AM

Loved the fight. Draw and a 7. Need more of these!

Posted by bigmike53 on March 25, 2018 at 09:10 PM

Both guys firing with bad intentions. Spirited Draw and a 7.

Posted by trackgiff on March 26, 2018 at 01:22 PM

I was there with my young boys. I might have set a bad example by standing up and cheering :)

Posted by BigBadBruins68 on March 26, 2018 at 08:42 AM

In the stirring battle of overhand vs. uppercut, both participants prove they've got a hell of a chin and manage to skate away from this with their senses intact. A well-earned draw and a 7.

Posted by Mounty in NC on April 03, 2018 at 10:27 PM

Compare this fight to the Bruins fight or Lucic fight and tell me all 3 should be rated the same!!!! Great fight and a draw with a deserving 8!!!!!

Posted by flanagon on March 25, 2018 at 11:10 AM

Possibly the best fight I’ve seen all year

Posted by Humper on March 25, 2018 at 07:20 AM

We implore the hockey gods every night for a great fight, and once in a blue moon they deliver. All offense, these guys go toe to toe with reckless abandon. Dillon landed 50% more punches than Hathaway, but most of them were to the body, Hathaway's fewer shots were far more strategically targeted. For that reason I'm going draw.

Posted by claire alexande on April 01, 2018 at 06:11 PM

Great scrap for these times and a classic swing of momentum draw. You never really know which Hathaway is going to show up.

Posted by jonahbuxton on March 28, 2018 at 01:47 AM

FuN! refs shoulda lettum go

Posted by ChuckinKnuckles on March 28, 2018 at 05:20 PM

Wow. Been a long time since I've seen a fight with this kind of evil intent. Both guys swinging for the fences. Dillon did enough to get the W but a very close fight...I would have no problem with those who scored it a draw. Dillon, 7.

Posted by Forscore on April 04, 2018 at 12:30 AM

Good fight

Posted by PantherPete on March 25, 2018 at 07:43 PM

Quite possibly the Fight of the Year.

Posted by BruinsAllDaySon on March 25, 2018 at 12:48 PM

Crap fight gave it a 1. Neither of these guys wanna fight Chara.

Posted by jawhockey on March 25, 2018 at 09:54 AM

Dillion used him as a punching bag. Hathaway showed a little fight at the end but not enough.
