Absolutely classless by clune. Goes after a guy who's never fought before in his career before he even has his gloves off. No respect for the code. That's the type of fighting you hate to see. Send him to Philadelphia.

Another Bum rush by Clune...beating a non fighter

Posted by brentsdaman on March 31, 2014 at 07:39 AM

Wilson stared at Clune(clown) right after the fight and smiled n nodded to him.Oates said they needed the win more than retaliate.Wey had a good check Clune took it on himself to start the fight and was swinging before wey dropped the gloves.when Wey did drop them it was to defend himself and show he no pu$$y,and yes he got his a$$ whooped.Clune will get his, this was cheap on his part!

Posted by bspray on March 30, 2014 at 09:26 PM

Clune's not usually that good. Wey just got dominated, then laid out for his efforts. Solid win for Clune in a decent little scrap.

Shield saved Wey from possible death

Posted by kkdowning on March 31, 2014 at 11:26 AM

OK -- this was a dominating win by Clune, BUT after a clean hit he jumped a guy who has never fought before (and it was evident Wey does not know how to fight -- the T-Rex arm poking out the sleeve with the elbow pad over his hand is evidence) and barrage attacks him. Complete disrespect on Clune's part. To make matters worse, he gets stared down by the 19 year old Tom Wilson (OK, he turned 20 this past week) and then refused to fight Wilson on at least 2 occassions.

And I thought Iggy got served

I love these brave tough guys who pick on non-fighters. Clune = 15 fights this year. Way = 0. I would LOVE to see Clune try this with someone like Ryan Reaves.

Posted by sedinfan on March 30, 2014 at 10:15 PM

You could tell Wey was fighting for the first time, really had no clue what he was doing. I like Clune as he is one scary middleweight, but like others on here i am not sure why he went after Wey. Wey didn't even know he was in a fight and when he did he got schooled.

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on April 16, 2014 at 11:37 PM

Clune all the Wey!!! He clobbered that poor bastard.

Posted by ravenmaniacski on April 01, 2014 at 11:09 AM

Gutless! Classless! Coward! I Love a good fight. I love old time hockey. What I don't like is when a clean check is thrown and a (so called fighter) goes after someone who is clearly not a fighter. Clown didn't challenge him and give him a chance to square off or decline. He jumped him. Gave him no chance. Wey is not a fighter is any way. I would lay money down that he was still upset from the Dec. 7th game when Wilson pounded him. Must have scared him because when Wilson challenged CLOWN twice he was a coward and declined. (per Wilson interview) Pu$$ies like clune give the game a bad name. That was Philly style hockey. I voted draw simply because this was not a fight!

Posted by etropeano on March 31, 2014 at 12:43 PM

Clune is a coward. Fights a rookie but won't stand up to Wilson.

Posted by dcmatty74 on March 30, 2014 at 10:12 PM

Didn't Tom Wilson already beat Clune's ass earlier this season? I don't think Clune remembers!

Posted by SEMO_Yogi on April 01, 2014 at 07:12 PM

All you pukes defending Clune should be ashamed of yourselves. Let the POS go with WIlson, oh, I forgot, he tried that and it didn't end well for him. Disgraceful, but if you're keeping score, a win for the d#ckhead from Nashville.

Posted by Snowchaser277 on April 05, 2014 at 10:28 PM

Clune the Clown had to go after a kid with exactly 0 fights on his resume, and the only reason he did it was because he KNEW he may not survive another round with Wilson. Clune showed what a classless piece of scum he is with that cowardly display. Jumped a kid after a legal check, and then started throwing before Wey even knew he was in a fight. Yeah, Clown, you're a real hero. You can't run from Wilson forevery, jagoff.

Posted by Sasky001 on April 04, 2014 at 10:51 AM

Clune can be proud of himself for possibly ending a guy's career for no apparent reason.

Posted by Jellyczar on April 02, 2014 at 08:21 AM

Annihilation by Clune.....

Posted by Great Murray on March 31, 2014 at 06:03 PM

Wey In...Wey Out...Cold. 1 Punch KO! Welcome to the bigs kid! Will the absolute morons that voted Draw or Wey admit that they need their meds refilled?

Posted by oregonfan999 on March 31, 2014 at 06:52 PM

Clune with the KO

Posted by endor on March 31, 2014 at 11:07 AM

Wow! What an uppercut. Clune wins against a non-fighter. Easy pickin's for him. By the looks of his black eye, appears Clune didn't win the last one as easily!!

Posted by ankkamies on March 31, 2014 at 09:58 PM

Posted by stlblueskiwi on April 05, 2014 at 01:55 PM

Clune dominated fight from the off and a lovely uppercut to finish. Can't be anything but a 100% win to Clune in this one.

Posted by English_Bruin on March 31, 2014 at 06:01 AM

Ouch, that hurt.

Posted by Predatorsfan77 on October 18, 2014 at 01:15 AM

Clune wont back down from anybody...A true enforcer... and for you noobs bashing him for picking on a non-fighter, you werent on the ice to hear what wey might have said to clune...

Posted by DARCY T on April 15, 2014 at 04:25 AM

clune didnt like the hit from wey.wey is a non-fighter and got himself into his 1st nhl fight.i bet he is glad he have that absorbed a lot of good punches but it didnt save him from last uppercut that sent him down.i dont believe that he was really hurt but he was laying around like football player to prolong his embarassement..tko win clune

Posted by fighting kings on April 03, 2014 at 04:02 AM

clune just kept throwing and landing them, no question of the victor,

Posted by Biggun19 on March 31, 2014 at 04:34 PM

Clune jumping a non-fighter...maybe he could jump out between periods and fire one pass the 7 year old goalie to boost his confidence further

Posted by BillB28 on March 31, 2014 at 12:20 PM

Clune The Goon refused to fight Tom Wilson 3 times after this fight. What a pansy.

Posted by Humper on March 31, 2014 at 07:39 AM

Wey bit off more than he could chew and never managed to get anything going. That last Clune uppercut was a doozy.

Posted by adamfry on March 31, 2014 at 07:21 PM

That was worse than the Ray Emery beating on the Caps earlier in the year- geez.

Posted by bobowen34 on April 02, 2014 at 05:29 AM

Last time these teams met Wilson pounded Clune. Clune got his revenge by beating up a non fighter. What a tough guy.

Posted by travist on March 31, 2014 at 12:36 AM

clune smashes wey, looks like he busted up his knuckle pretty good too, you saw him pull it away 2/3 through the fight. must have caught the visor...

Posted by Oswegofightfan on April 01, 2014 at 08:09 PM

Zackkshapp must b a huge Caps fan. That was a mutual fight that Wey will simply regret the rest of his life. Everyone Knows don"t pointlessly hard check a fighter unless you want to fight. Nuff said

Posted by Ratank on April 01, 2014 at 07:09 AM

Clune's hand is hurt... but gets the KO with the u-cut.

Posted by Bob Probert 24 on April 01, 2014 at 06:58 AM

Clune lit him up like a bonfire

Good Richie-Rich

Posted by Rando716 on April 02, 2014 at 08:09 PM

Wow... one of the better fights I've seen in a while... Clune lands some clean punches ...including the uppercut that ko's Wey

Posted by jnk07899 on March 31, 2014 at 11:51 AM

What the frack was Clune throwing so viciously for? There's fighting a fighter and then there's fighting a kid who just can't. This is where a fighter needs to know how to not kill someone.

Posted by darkdisciple13 on April 02, 2014 at 10:11 AM

Clune wins against on non-fighter he jumped. Wey for his part did his best to hang on as long as possible. Clune probably won't like his next game against Washington too much.

Posted by Orr Fourever on March 31, 2014 at 09:30 AM

Win for Clune. Well Wey did more then PK Soupcan would have done..He didn't turtle.

Posted by rickflare on March 31, 2014 at 10:59 PM

Just to let everyone know, Wey has one other fight before this. Not sure why Clune was so eager to fight.

Posted by beathespread on April 01, 2014 at 09:21 AM

Not sure how I feel about Clune. He gets checked and then just goes right after Wey. Clune was an easy winner but against a guy who wasn't even trying to really go.

Posted by BooSanta on March 31, 2014 at 10:01 PM

Not sure what got into Wey's head to get involved in this scrap. Sure know what got into his head to end it. Don't think we'll be seeing Wey log any more of these any time soon.

Posted by beaud101 on March 30, 2014 at 09:40 PM

Wey didn't seem to be ready for how fast and hard Clune started up and could never recover. That said, Clune did all the damage with the last uppercut. Clune in a one-sider.

Posted by canamrugby on April 05, 2014 at 11:30 AM

TKO for Clune.

Posted by Hennley on March 31, 2014 at 11:24 AM

Go after Erskine or some other tough guy you p***y Clune, not a guy who's had ONE USHL fight and ZERO NHL fights in his career... It was total domination, but I wanted to give the fight to Wey just to spite Clune...

Posted by rocky 1 on March 30, 2014 at 11:07 PM

Rich Clune did not lose this fight remember you heard it here first!

Posted by illukka on March 31, 2014 at 01:34 AM

uppercut is a god way to neutralize the shield. clune must have been angry or something

Posted by troy.n on March 30, 2014 at 09:40 PM

Clune is a POS... he obviously won this fight, but going after a guy who has never fought in the NHL, when you are the other teams "tough guy" . . Garbage... I hope Clune fights Tom Wilson in the 3rd period and gets his ass whooped..

Posted by cblue22 on March 30, 2014 at 11:26 PM

clune is a total POS. No need for that fight.

Posted by bigmike53 on March 30, 2014 at 11:08 PM

Rich Clune with the devastating KO of Patrick Wey! The last uppercut was a thunderous shot and I think Wey hit his head on the ice. I hope Wey isn't hurt too bad.

Posted by staceyb on March 30, 2014 at 09:32 PM

Clune fine tunes a rookie defenseman in his first NHL fight into an uppercut to the chin knockout. That's well and fine. Let's see how Clune fairs with a trained fighter like Tom Wilson or John Erskine.

Posted by laughriot on March 31, 2014 at 07:26 AM

No code violation here. Wey was a willing combatant, didn't give up size, was even wearing a visor. Don't blame Clune for obliging. Is Clune supposed to check someone's credentials before a fight when the other person engages? Wey bit off more than he could chew, and much like Jay Beagle a few years back with Aaron Asham, Wey will likely think twice before getting chippy out there again.

Posted by shawnrocks on March 30, 2014 at 10:26 PM

clune fights to win

Posted by ThrowdownSJ408 on March 30, 2014 at 10:24 PM

great fight, thank you

Posted by King of Goons on March 31, 2014 at 10:29 PM

VISOR BOY GETS KNOCKED OUT. And to all the knee-jerk reactionary's who think Clune started the fight by "going after a non-fighter", watch the replay and you'll see that Wey was the initiator. Clune gives this visored chump the beating he deserves.

Posted by francoisleroux on March 31, 2014 at 01:54 AM

Good lord man, it's a fight, it's not against the rules to use a bit of defence to stop the guy from pummelling you. in retrospect, in watching the replays, this Wey kid has no business taking his gloves off unless he's back in the dressing room. in looking at his stats, this guy has no business in the nhl, but that's another story... Joel Rechlicz callup in the works?

Posted by Massive Coiler on March 30, 2014 at 10:38 PM

Clune really didn't look like he could have cared any less that Wey was wearing a visor. Clune with a convincing win. That visor probably saved that guy's life.

Posted by 1derf on March 31, 2014 at 10:43 AM

What was Clune suppose to do? The code also says don't mix it up with the other teams fighter unless you are ready to go.

Posted by TheodoreRex on March 31, 2014 at 12:01 AM

Clune decisive win. However he's gutless for starting a fight with an unready opponent with 0 career fights. And dodges Wilson the rest of the night.

Posted by morecowbell on March 31, 2014 at 01:06 AM

no Wey!

Posted by Biggus on March 31, 2014 at 10:23 AM

Clone throws a flurry of punches and gets helmet and visor until that one uppercut. Wey got in one open handed bitch slap (maybe).

Posted by wyldthing on March 30, 2014 at 09:27 PM

What a fight by Clune ... total domination ended with a KO

Posted by craig_9806 on March 30, 2014 at 10:29 PM

LOL Rich whoever fight someone with a name

Posted by Jet8484 on March 31, 2014 at 12:10 AM

Have you guys hit your heads. Wey went after clune then clune knocked him out. Clune didn't start it he just finished it

Posted by playinlax on March 30, 2014 at 09:51 PM

Can't wait to see Wilson or Erskin whoop Clune in Round 2

Posted by Hilaker on March 30, 2014 at 10:29 PM

Shame on Clune for picking this kid. He wins but loses respect. I hope someone tunes him up before this game ends.

Posted by nhlofficialsblo on March 31, 2014 at 10:42 PM

That was nasty. Rich shows Patrick he bit off Wey more than he could chew. The uppercut is beginning to make a huge comeback. Nystrom tells Clune, "You looked like Tanner Glass there." You ladies criticizing Clune for being classless need pounded yourselves. Wey wasn't an unwilling combatant. You can take your code and stuff it. The real code is "If you want some come get some."

Posted by gogrg on March 31, 2014 at 08:40 AM

The Capitals should just not fight

Posted by rputnam on March 30, 2014 at 09:28 PM

Klune with the MONSTER upper cut!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by hughcares on March 31, 2014 at 09:41 AM

Great job by Clune, pounded the wanna be tough guy Wey. Wey looks like he learned to fight from the capitals p8ssy captain.
