I expected worse for Monty given his opponent but he was still standing at the end.
If anyone else saw it Monty got decked by a straight gloved right thrown by Franzen at the end of Sunday night's Wings-Hawks game. That's one you don't want to put on the resume when your agent is negotiating your next contract.
I like Monty, I really do. But he's with Kostopoulous and Adams- He's like a punching bag that occasionally throws a slap while you're pummeling it. Is it me, or did it look like Boll left his feet but also made an effort to avoid Brunette at the same time? Or did Brunette skillfully avoid it? It was a weird hit.
Montador stood up well for his teammate despite giving up size and wingspan. He sent the message that Boll's size would not preclude him from getting a squaring off no matter which Blackhawks were on the ice.
All that said, Montador was just sending a message and that was all Chicago wanted. He certainly didn't win, but he didn't get embarrassed or manhandled. He wasn't really even trying to do anything more than stay upright and hassle Boll all in all.
Boll's size and strength were more than enough to withstand Montador's assault, but he did injure his wrist in the process and it would be exacerbated in the next fight with Jamal Myers.
Boll won this one - threw more and better. These announcers are terrible for Columbus! Montador wants out??? He threw two more punches after they said that. Glad that Montador's helmet came off to make it more fair. One more thing - THE INSTIGATOR RULE SUCKS!!!
