mayers was quick with his right but i dont think he landed anything.maybe edge mayers but i call it draw and 4

Posted by scorp1on on December 17, 2011 at 06:30 AM

Mayers lands one maybe two decent punches amidst a lot of flailing, then throws himself off balance just as Belesky starts to get settled. Draw.

Great body check ! Mayers throwing early but short of landing, Belesky with the take-down. Giving this a Draw.

Mayers handles Beleskey, despite the one-armed, throwdown, finish.

Posted by wishbone73 on December 22, 2011 at 01:13 PM

Not much really. Give it to Mayers.

Borderline hit on Cam Fowler by Jamal, showing some juevos with John Scott on the ice covering his back. He had the early advantage over Beleskey.

Posted by PolishX on December 17, 2011 at 03:46 PM

Jamal Mayers is a 1 trick poney , typical boarderline player , Same as John Scott , big meathead who may net 6 points a year and 3 minutes of ice time. Yes I play and Yes I know the role of an enforcer but mayers is just a turd

Posted by mudman55 on December 17, 2011 at 11:30 AM

f*** Jamal Mayers. That was an Interference call that could have seriously hurt the kid with 3.5 minutes to go when your team is up four. And anyone that thinks that this is a "good hit" is wrong. Mayers made no play on the puck and hit Fowler before he had a chance to. That's called "interference".

"Dissapointed Parros didn't do anything in this game." Parros had the chance to have a fight, but he turned his back on Scott. Meyers hit was borderline. Fowler wanted to business with that puck.

Meyers here.

Clean hit results in Matt wanting a piece of Mayers. Jamal with the win.

Not sure what (if) Beleskey was thinking there.

Posted by MaddieLynn on December 17, 2011 at 12:00 AM

I don't have a problem with teammates coming to the aid of teammates after a hit from the opposing team, especially if it's clearly a bad hit. Mayers get the "W" in my book.

Posted by Puckmagnet on December 17, 2011 at 02:49 AM

Mayers definitely landed more punches, and he threw more punches as well. Belesky really never mounted much of an offensive, and was purely defensive until he pulled Mayers down.

Edge Jamal Mayers.

Mayers makes a great hit and then kicks Beleskey's azz. Commentator was right. Good hit should not equal fight...unless the guy taking the hit goes after the hitter. A good hit on my good guy should just equal me whacking your good guy. That would be old time North American hockey. This chit is gangland mentality...'you dissed me man, I gonna go get my crew'. Bunch of Bull Chit. Beleskey couldn't handle the job anyway!

Interesting, Meyer checks the rookie and Beleski feels he has to retaliate - and loses- yet He and Parros let Scott shove brookbank into the goalie earlier in the shift and do nothing about it...I'm sure its because Brookbank got a draw with Scott in the first period and they felt he could handle Scott again.

Mayers making the big hit, winning the fight.

Posted by johnscottfan on February 18, 2012 at 04:14 PM

Mayers landed the only blows but Belesky got the take down. Mayers still won though

all jamal mayers

Bagratid - I hate to disagree, but I disagree. I can't see how Beleskey (or someone else) doesn't step in when this goon runs your future #1 D-man. Consider the score and the way the game was going, and it makes total sense.

Posted by mcb798 on December 17, 2011 at 03:09 AM

beleskey takes this scrap.

Posted by snowave on December 17, 2011 at 05:07 PM

And I thought the Anaheim annoucners were homers.. jeez. borderline hit as others were saying... I'm all for hitting, regardless of who you are on the ice... but this was pretty classless if you ask me. It's one thing if this happened in the middle of a tight checking game in the 2nd period... but for it to happen at the end of a blowout game is weak. Dissapointed Parros didn't do anything in this game.

commentator is on the money. nice hits should not mean a fight breaks out. welcome to the new, not better, NHL. win Mayers

Great hit by Mayers but I'm always disappointed when fights start after plays like that, Fowler did not need defending. That said I enjoy watching Mayers fight, he doesn't always win but he goes down swinging. Clifford - Mayers is not a goon, he is a grinder and his hit was perfectly legal. Hockey is a body contact sport and occasionally you are going to get drilled by a good hard check. Regardless of your whether you are your teams best or worst player you need to take the hit, get back up and keep playing. And if you still want revenge just remember the number and wait until he goes into the corner and then repay him with interest. I agree with the commentators here; I don't like seeing good, hard hits being followed by fights.

great hit, great fight win. mayers showing that at his age he's still a tough guy presence in the nhl. mudman55 you need to remove your tampon and realize this is hockey, not soccer. that was a good hit, hence why no interference call (or any other) call was made. i understand your trying to justify your horrible hockey team from anaheim, but try to be impartial in your reviews.

Mayers gets the win -- takedown doesn't change the result
