Other Penalties: Chris Neil and Darroll Powe each received a double roughing; Chris Campoli a roughing.
who the hell is this stupid announcer??? since when is a clean body check a cheap shot? since when is it not ok for a guy to make a hit just because he isnt a big hitter. what a pussy
Hey Denis Potvin, shut the hell up about the "unnecessary cheapshot," like Chris Neil is a Christian missionary out there on the ice?
draw in a visor fight...gave it 3...and shut up announcer. i dont understand why is that hit cheap shot
Worst commentator ever!!! No one gives a sh!t about your respect list. Clean hit, bad fight.
gave this one a draw.
CHEAP SHOT! HE HAD THE FUCKING PUCK WITH HIS HEAD DOWN! FUCK HIM!
I don't think it was a cheap shot, however it would stir the pot for little reason! Draw!!
This one is a draw in my eyes, not much going on both seemed kinda disinterested. Denis Potvin is the biggest fan boy going. I can not stand to watch a sens broadcast anymore. He is always like this, last time I checked hockey was still full contact dude! Had the hit come the other way it would have been fine.
Two visor wearing weenies. No vote...can't even give them credit for a fight really.
Great hit by, the usually dis-likable, Giroux. Girlish, and needless retaliation by Neil. Followed by Carter... not... embarrassing himself, against a visor-wearing, tough-guy, wanna-be, whose only redeeming pugilistic skill seems to be the fact that he's named after a rifle.
As someone who attended the game right behind the Ottawa bench, I can tell you that Giroux and other players on both teams were aiming for big hits the entire game. Watching his young career, Giroux hits often throughout the course of most games. These announcers blow and I'm sure true Canadien hockey fans are a little ashamed of having such a cry baby color commentator. DRAW.
Cheap shot? How does a Canadian team find an announcer who's never seen a hockey game before? Ask Tyler Kennedy if Giroux doesn't hit anyone... That said, Winchester wants to fight, so he grabs the first non-fighter he can find. Carter acquits himself, even has Winchester doing the "don't hit me" wave when he gets his right arm free, but doesn't land anything. Draw.
DRAW for sure. Wichester early, Carter late.
I am not sure if he won, but kudos to Carter for taking on a guy that is used to fighting. He actually looked like he knew what he was doing. Who is that announcer. A shoulder to shoulder to hit is a cheap shot? The guy is about 5 foot nothing and did no damage what so ever, that announcer should be doing figure skating.
Potvin sounds like an A$$. This coming from a life long Islander fan who saw Denny play many times back in the day. Just shut up. It was a good hit. If anyone should have refrained from contact it was the Senators who retaliated . Sore losers and an under achieving team looking to vent some built up frustration using Giroux 's clean hit as an excuse.. As for the fight? Who cares. I'll go DRAW for indifference.
Winchester starts with two rights that lightly hit Carter's helmet. Carter's first punch misses. After Carter falls down, Winchester throws some very light jersey jabs that can't do much more than tickle Carter, since Winchester's hands are pretty well tied-up. Carter gets his hand free, and instead of throwing a punch, he decides to hold it in the air for a bit, then finally throws a right that might have caught Winchester's helmet, and follows with a body shot and then a right to the helmet, finally landing a punch. After this, they both awkwardly appear to be going for a takedown and simultaneously fall sideways. All the punches that landed were very weak. Winchester landed more (the first two rights, plus the weak jersey jabs), but the body shot and helmet shot that Carter ends the fight with were clearly harder. I almost gave him an edge for that, but this seems like a clear-cut draw.
man, Claude Giroux must have boinked the announcers wife or something. Who shot Kennedy? Claude Giroux Martin Luther King? Claude Giroux Who discontinued the McRib? Claude Giroux
I dont know what this guy is talking about Giroux with a cheap shot?? since when does checking a guy not even hard result in a cheap shot. Isnt that how hockeys played ? I dont see why such a big deal was made of this. Also Carter Winchester draw .. I cant stand Winchester goes after guys that never want to fight or dont fight. What ever either way boring.
Winchester looked better, nice takedown but not much going on either way
carter did what he should as one of the big men for the line and stood up for giroux on a very clean hit. the commentators piss me off here with how bias they are. they talk about giroux never making a big hit, the hit coming in too late in the game, and it being a cheapshot. but they have to realize that giroux has had a few big hits in his short career including a big one in the stanley cup and even a few this year. he plays hard all game and thats part of what makes him so popular. he just caught the guy with his head down at the right time and made him pay, kudos to giroux. with the fight, nobody had any true punches thrown, clear draw
Draw, I thought Winchester should be able to handle Carter. A lot of punches, sweater jabs thrown but not much damage.
Draw.
Draw
Fire the announcer.
Homer announcers.
who are these announcers saying it was a cheap shot? clean hit off the boards is a clean hit! its hockey not dancing stfu let the boys play and dont add your two cents unless your going to talk about chris neil who is the cheap shot artist next to sean avery
Winchester looked horrible and I think he tries to thumb Carter in the eye at the end. He gets the loss for trying to catch Carter's slaps.
Carter was thrown fists and jesse was trying to slap him,i watched in slo-mo on the rabbit ears and winchster was pawing at him lol.
CANT YOU GET A MORE EXICTING FEED? THESE ANNOUCNERS ARE HORRIBLE - PHILLY FEED AT LEAST GETS WAY INTO IT
Flyers scorer decisions a Ottawa goon , now thats funny . Crter has more goals this year than Winchester does in his career , if you would call it that .
Perhaps the homer Potvin is thinking Giroux kneed Winchester but it looked more like a good clean shoulder to shoulder hit that took Winchester off the puck. Giroux was not called for the penalty either, but hey, this is hockey, and the hit woke the Sens up and made 'em scrappy. As for the fight it was mostly misses but I will be cahritable and give this one to Carter for getting in the better swings. Winchester couldn't do anything here. By the way why doesn't Potvin know his right from his left. Wonder how many pucks hit him in the head over the years. If i get a better feed I might be able to see if anything actually landed here. this may very well be a draw.
How about Carts getting in that scrum
LOL @ tattooedkingpin
Giroux -just another flyer missing a chromosome. Why would you put your team in a postion like that, what if jeff carter gets seriously injured.-game was over!what a chooch!
Carter doesn't even land a punch the whole fight not a fighter... then again he's not fighting a fighter here and gets beat...
Winchester with the definite edge. Carter looked petrified
ha ha Philly sucks donkey dick can't stand them
Win for Winchester but what is up with fighting with a shield. If you wear a shield take it off before the fight.
Winchester with the slight edge.
Win to Winchester. Decent scrap for two non-fighters. The announcer should shut the hell up...
Winchester
winchester wins all day.
I did not see any problem with Giroux's hit. Does anyone know what the announcer is talking about?
Clean hit and then the Flyers lose every scrum.
That was kind of great on a way. Win JW.
Those were like bad old movie punches.
Draw, and really, who cares? Two chicks trying to fight. These guys fighting w/visors on are like stormtroopers fighting. God I wish some of them would just break their hands and wrists.
not a Phylers fan and that was not a cheap shot
Cheapshot? Shoulder to shoulder on a player who had the puck on his stick. Who is this clown.
Denis Potvin was a great, great hockey player, but his commentating skills are horrible, just horrible...
"It's not like Giroux is gonna hit anybody..." Ummmm, he just did, about 20 seconds before you said that you moron. And stop crying about the hit, it was clean. What, you're winning by a few goals so you should stop playing hockey? Right. Get the fuck outta here you old piece of shit.
Those announcers are absolutely terrible, the fight wasn't very good, but that was an amazing, clean hit.
that announcer is going to lose his job if he keeps calling shoulder to shoulder hits "unnecessary" and a "cheapshot"........
POTVIN SUCKS!!!! [Go rangers] Potvin[the broadcaster] knows all about cheap shots :P
I love line brawls errbody mad
LOL! So Giroux's hit was a cheap shot because he is not someone who usually takes the body?? Slight edge to Carter in the girly slap fight.
i have pure hate for philly cus i'm a pens fan, but carter did rather well. first of 6 scraps in this game
The only punch Carter landed was a body shot so the win has to go to Winchester. The rules state that a player cannot leave his feet to make a hit. Giroux's hit was illegal because he very clearly left his feet. He was 6" off the ice and his shoulder was well above Winchester's head when he made contact. That fact can't be disputed, and that does make it a dirty hit. Then to top it off he turtles on the ground with his hands in front of his face like a little girl (which seemed to be a recurring theme on the night for the Flyers). Broad Street Bullies? More like Broad Street Sallies. Some people seem to have the same problem understanding or respecting the rules of the game as Giroux, which is basically what the commentators were saying when they said the hit was a cheapshot, which it was. Leaving your feet to make the hit is bad enough, doing it when the guy doesn't see it coming when you're way ahead at the end of the game is worse. If he hadn't left his feet the hit would have been clean and the play probably would have just continued. Some people also have a problem with Winchester's linemates sticking up for him after the hit. So I guess it's fine for Giroux to make the cheap hit, but not ok for the other team to retaliate. No double standard there. Also, if you're Giroux and you've just made what you know is an illegal hit, you should really have your head up expecting a facewash at the very least. One good turn deserves another, and what Neil gave him was exactly what he had coming. Suck it up ladies. The last thing people have a problem with is Winchester fighting with Giroux, because Giroux is a frail all-star and Winchester currently holds the league heavyweight title with Boogard being a close second. News flash: Winchester hardly ever fights and he's not a good fighter anyway. So once again we have the double standard where it's ok for him to take the cheap shot, but not ok to retaliate.
win Winchester...a low caliber fight
Clean hit? He jumped a foot and half in the air to hit him in the head. LOL
that was a CLEAN hit by giroux. these announcer are complete jackasses. just because the flyers are winning it's a cheapshot if they hit someone? anyway, i hate jeff carter. was rooting for him to get pounded here, but he handled himself ok. i gave it a draw.
I don't know what in the hell the announcer is talking about! That was a clean hit that knocked the Sens player on his ass. Get over yourself and call the game right.
Giroux's hit was not a cheap shot! It was a clean hit on a player with the puck...who cares if its the end of the game and the Flyers have it locked up, these guys are paid to go 100% for 60 minutes. He didn't target the head, it wasn't blindside, and as per usual, any time a Flyer hits someone it must be a "cheap" shot. The Sens were just cranky that they gave up 3 in the third and a young guy like Giroux put a good hit on one of their players. I'm sick of players feeling the need to retaliate just because a teammate had a clean hit...if someone cheap shots one of your guys you have to protect them, but a clean hit??? Stop whining and either protect yourself or give the guy a clean hit right back the next chance you get.
