I like how Scott sizes up his opponents. Reminds me of when I visit the Red Light district and size up hookers.

Posted by pepsigenerate on December 20, 2010 at 03:58 PM

westgarth with the win, alot of punches thrown by scott but uneffective, westgarth hung in there, everytime he got an arm free he threw a good one and connected,

Posted by b.t.wilson on December 19, 2010 at 10:17 PM

took an hour to get going but turned out okay. going with a draw. scott is just so big, boogaard or chara are about the only people i can see beating that boeing wing span. 5.

Back on the horse for Westie

Posted by swinny on December 19, 2010 at 09:05 PM

Much better showing this time for Westgarth. That Scott is a big boy, and Westgarth hung in there.

Posted by LA KING FANATIC on December 20, 2010 at 11:33 AM

Westgarth went right out and challenged him, gutsy after the buttwhipping he got the last time. Westy fought a smart fight, stayed inside close, guarded his face and landed several nice shots, I give this one a draw as Scott did not do much and they basically eliminated each others threats.

Posted by DARCY T on December 28, 2010 at 05:41 AM

edge scott and 5

Posted by Riomouse911 on December 20, 2010 at 03:45 PM

The interview with KW between periods revealed that even he thought he couldn't hit Scott because of the wingspan. KW did better here than in the last mauling he took, but still a W for Big John.

Posted by scorp1on on December 20, 2010 at 01:48 PM

Scott not performing as well in as he should have given the Yetiweight-Heavyweight disparity in the bout. Westgarth does no damage, but aside from a couple of decent connectionsto little effect, Scott doesn't either. Also, Scott does the I'm exhausted pulldown while Westgarth still seems ready to continue. Should be edge Scott, but I'll call it a draw based on what should have happened and what actually occurred.

Posted by slavv on December 20, 2010 at 10:29 PM

Westgarth did much better against th ebigger Scott this time around. Scott went for the pulldown when Westgarth was still going at him. Draw...

Posted by Juha82 on December 20, 2010 at 06:19 AM

DRAW in my book. Most of Scotts punches doesnt land well.

Posted by Detroit_Caps on December 19, 2010 at 10:34 PM

hehehe Westgarth is just frackin awesome. . .going after ont of the biggest guys in the league AGAIN. . .this time faring much better. One of these days he's gonna get his nose back. . .and he'll keep trying til he does.

Posted by skater1 on December 19, 2010 at 10:33 PM

Much better job by Westgarth this time around. Scott took the first part and Westgarth comes back towards the end and takes Scott down. Draw.

Posted by arctic_chill on December 19, 2010 at 10:34 PM

Westgarth is lucky Scott didn`t smash his face again , there was a few close calls in this scrap that could have demolished Westgarth again but he was fortunate to just stay out of the path of Scott`s right hand . Scott with the slight win but this guy is a force out there !

Posted by mctuttle on December 19, 2010 at 11:03 PM

I wanted to give Westgarth some props for his ability to not get owned like last time but when he comes clapping out of the bout, b/c he did not need plastic surgery after this recent encounter, I retract all props for Garth. He hung in there with the best fighter in the league, lost by the smallest margin Scott has dished, and was mainly saved by Scott falling forward, allowing the refs to break it up. I think a lot of fighters and fans don't get how Scott is accustomed to not have to really fight hard, since all are puny to him, so fights look close b/c he restrains himself and sometimes just is like "whatever."

Posted by OffGoyim on December 23, 2010 at 07:44 PM

By the end of westgarths career he wil have spent all his money on plastic surgery the way he eats knuckles.

Posted by ProbieHitHard24 on December 20, 2010 at 08:36 AM

Tempted to give Westgarth the win simply because he still knew where he was when it was over ... He basically hung on and tried not to get hit with the cinder block that is John Scott's right...Clapping on his way to the box was pretty weak...I guess Westy's ok with "moral victories" but I thought that stopped in pee-wee's

Posted by Bad Dawg on December 20, 2010 at 08:49 AM

Westgarth was happy he lived through it

Posted by Double Nickels on December 24, 2010 at 12:46 AM

Westgarth's got pluck getting right back in there.

Posted by greenbean316 on December 19, 2010 at 10:48 PM

Points for Westgarth to try Scott out again, but the size difference will always be a factor in it. It looks like in order for Westgarth to protect himself he wont be able to really throw a damn thing.

Posted by oltimehockey on December 20, 2010 at 06:23 AM

Westgarth with a respectable bout against big John Scott. Kevin still ate a couple shots but managed to dodge a few right handed nose breakers. I suppose that is what the clapping was for. Scott does seem to loose steam later in some bouts. Still a win on points for Scott.

Posted by Big_Goon on December 20, 2010 at 10:34 AM

Not sure how anyone saw this a W for Westgarth or even a draw. Scott dominated him and landed the cleaner harder blows. Props to Westgarth for taking on the monster again and hanging with him.

Posted by moneybags on December 20, 2010 at 10:02 AM

Scott wins but I give westie credit...still waiting for scott to go with an orr, boogie, chara, thornton,,,,

Posted by Truk on December 21, 2010 at 01:46 AM

Anybody ever seen what this Westgarth guy looks like? He doesn't sit still long enough to get a look at him. I can't wait to see somebody drop that giant and his scowl. Big Georges would handle him I bet.

Posted by Canadiens100 on December 20, 2010 at 01:09 PM

Scott wins. What was Westgarth clapping like an idiot for? He didn't win the fight (again).

Posted by ghjkfdhgfd on December 20, 2010 at 06:23 PM

Posted by GCBC00 on December 20, 2010 at 10:28 AM

Win Scott. At least Westgarth survived this one without any broken bones ;)

Posted by 5fourfighten on December 20, 2010 at 12:02 PM

Westgarth was extremely happy after the bout. Because he was able to skate away. Win Scott.

Posted by BHawks24 on December 19, 2010 at 10:40 PM

Eh not as good as there last bout... but Scott still on top!

Posted by letsdance24 on December 20, 2010 at 03:31 PM

Looked like Scott was fighting a 12 year old..

Posted by bluesrule on December 20, 2010 at 06:02 PM

westgarth is a pussy he got beat here and got beat last time and wouldn't even fight cam janssen who i can see im not wanting to fight him because he is a bad ass (neither did Jamal mayers) but clear win Scott in this OK scrap

Posted by dapwas20 on December 20, 2010 at 12:35 AM

If Scott has a weakness, or two, it's that he lacks a mean streak and it will cost him one of these days cause their are a lot of tough guys looking to make a name for themselves besides those who already have and will take advantage of of his easy tiring after a minute or so. the honeymoon he has enjoyed is about to run out and he better be ready cause no one is going to concede him the crown till he takes the Orr's, Thorton's , Boogaards, Godard's etc. around the league and show's he can sustain his energy throughout the fight.

Posted by tim horton 416 on December 19, 2010 at 10:43 PM

bt wilson says a draw????????? NOT!!!!!!! Westgarth had better showing BUT A draw??? Put it htis way Westgarth didn't get bloodied this time

Posted by MrMagooo on December 20, 2010 at 09:52 PM

Posted by slshbleed on December 19, 2010 at 10:24 PM

I think Westgarth might be able to bite through a nail.

Posted by aaronious on December 20, 2010 at 09:20 AM

What was Westgarth clapping about? Does one usually clap after losing?

Posted by tyrone on December 19, 2010 at 10:45 PM

BJS again. Score 2-0. Westgarth clapping because his nose didn't get broken again.

Posted by YCCKK on December 19, 2010 at 11:11 PM

just realized...westgarth got his head punched off the glass..the last time they met. Much better showing this time. Gotta cheer for the he took on Scott again. Much better showing this time around. Didn't win...but i respect him for trying again.

Posted by jbaker3924 on December 20, 2010 at 10:48 AM

Decisive Win BJS.

Posted by staceyb on December 20, 2010 at 06:25 AM

Westgarth with the much better show the second time around--translation: he didn't get his schnoz busted again. But Scott wins the bout on points. Oh, and the Hawks win the game.

Posted by fernben8 on December 20, 2010 at 12:20 PM

I think that deep down inside of Scott's conscience...he intentionally stayed away from Westgarth's deviated septum , knowing very well that the healing process was still not complete... Slight edge to Scott.

Posted by sedinfan on December 20, 2010 at 12:48 AM

Scott with the slight edge, but Westgarth hung in there. When I saw this, I thought I was going to see Westgarth get killed again. I still wish we could get Scott fighting McIntyre, Boogaard or maybe Chara. Watching this 6 foot eight guys fight makes the regular 6 foot 3 and 6 foot 4 guys look like midgets.

Posted by jimmyfd on December 20, 2010 at 05:56 AM

I like how Westgarth goes off clapping.....clapping that he didn't get his nose busted again.

Posted by Dropdaperchatki on December 20, 2010 at 07:48 PM

Westgarth mostly covered up and tried not to get killed, but give him credit for taking on Scott again after getting rag-dolled.

Posted by Prust on December 20, 2010 at 05:40 PM

Westgarth needs to stop fighting before he gets really hurt....

Posted by eric3446 on December 19, 2010 at 09:45 PM

Scott with the win. Huge props to Westgarth for going at it again, and it turned out better than last fight's broken nose.

Posted by Scottsrightfist on December 19, 2010 at 09:47 PM

Westgarth was better in this fight, but the big JS still prevails. Westgarth probably feels like a king for doing that well against Scott anyway.

Posted by PUMMELED on December 20, 2010 at 05:13 PM

Westgarth in total defensive mode, but who can blame him, since he didn't wanna be THUNDERSTRUCK and be sniffin his own blood again. And, it's not good gettin yur beak smashed twice in 1 month. But, he needed to show-up to show his teamates that he's not a weenie. Nonetheless, the FORCE known as BIG JOHN SCOTT doing his thing, being a wrecking crew, PUMMELING anybody who dares challenge him. I'd like to see him PUMMEL Tootoo wednesday night, assuming they give lil' jordin a step-stool to stand on.

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on February 04, 2013 at 01:06 AM

After getting his face rearranged a month prior to this, you would think Westgarth would have called in sick. Instead, he went right back after Scott. I'm glad he survived and I think by the way he was clapping after the fight, he was happy to have survived too.

Posted by EDDUBBS on December 20, 2010 at 02:21 AM

Scott wins and clearly dominated. It is amazing that Westgarth was clapping, but I later learned that he was clapping because he didn't get killed, so now that makes sense.

Posted by Jellyczar on February 19, 2016 at 02:14 PM

Scott wins easily ... Westgarth is always game...

Posted by tattooedkingpin on December 20, 2010 at 01:48 PM

Westgarth faired much better this time but still loses to Scott. Id be clapping to if i went up against a giant and didnt get my face exploded again.

Posted by rocky 1 on December 20, 2010 at 02:38 AM

I will give the edge to Scott here but it was close! Is Scott the next Heavy weight chump in this league!

Posted by sulley71 on December 20, 2010 at 09:38 PM

Scott with the win again, very good showing by westgarth. I'd like to see Scott face a bigger guy too, however the guys challenging him are all smaller! Eventually they'll play Edmonton1 Grimson wore # 23 in Chicago, not 32 as some are suggesting.

Posted by bass_n_treble on December 19, 2010 at 09:34 PM

Very close fight. Westgarth seemed to be better at evading punches, and had the take-down. Edge Westgarth.

Posted by tville23 on December 20, 2010 at 08:53 AM

So people want to give Westgarth props for "going a second time with Scott" and for "hanging in with the big guy". Whatever. He loses another bout with Scott and then has the nerve to cheer for himself on the way to the box? Joke. Victory to Scott.

Posted by efp on December 21, 2010 at 01:28 AM

Westgarth got dominated AGAIN!!!! Scott controled this one all the way. I thought Westgarth was going to do a Lemiuex at the beginning and got popped a few times towards the end. I don't know why he's clapping at the end? Maybe his face didn't re-arrainged again?

Posted by hoodman on December 19, 2010 at 11:23 PM

westgarth was just happy to go to the box not needing repairs. edge scott

Posted by h2opoloref on December 20, 2010 at 12:14 AM

Round 3 coming up January 3!

Posted by Enrico Ciccone on December 20, 2010 at 10:09 PM

After Scott landed a couple shots I was waiting for the Mortal Kombat voice to say "finish him," but BIG SCOTT showed a little mercy.

Posted by bruins rule on December 19, 2010 at 09:10 PM

gave scott the edge in this fight. westgarth looked much better in this fight with scott than he did the last time they fought.

Posted by Bluetiedown44 on December 19, 2010 at 11:03 PM

Scott with win here, pulls Westgarth down with him at the end. Westgarth hangs in but Scott had the better punches, control of the fight, and reach. As much as I like seeing Westgarth take on Scott again, it is close but not that close.

Posted by CamRussell on December 20, 2010 at 08:17 AM

Grimson's number was 23, along with two other great Chicago athletes of the time.

Posted by ttrue on December 20, 2010 at 02:10 PM

good for westgarth to try and redeem himself for the beating scott threw him a couple weeks ago, but lets be honest, was it really getting up and giving yourself a round of applause worthy....noooo. Guy u lost the tilt, I guess hes just happy his nose wasnt broken again. why anyone would want to drop the mittens with scott is beyond me, guy was bread for this

Posted by HaWKeYToWNusa on December 19, 2010 at 10:16 PM

Scott wins. Better showing for Westie. I thought he had a death wish but he learned to be more turtle/defense like. Still need to throw more to win.

Posted by von_swine on December 20, 2010 at 10:29 PM

Westy and the Sleestack pt.2,..edge to Westy since Im a homer and Sleestack was not impressive. need a head butt or eye rake for round three to really turn these 2 into rivals.

Posted by GSP09 on December 23, 2010 at 10:46 AM

Most of Scott's did not land ,so I give this one to the smaller man.

Posted by mpw on December 19, 2010 at 09:53 PM

Westgarth lands 1st and last shot good job westy

Posted by Bmelsmullet on December 20, 2010 at 04:55 AM

In the early part of the fight I saw nothing that landed cleanly; towards the end Westgarth started landing. When Scott landed it seemed he was off balance and not hitting with full strength. At the end, clearly gassed, Scott flops on his back as he eats an uppercut and drags Westie down on top of him. Win Westgarth. Westgarth seems to have learned from Cam Janssen. Fighters who grow stronger as the bout goes on have a decided advantage over Scott, if the refs will let it go long enough.

Posted by hangons on December 20, 2010 at 12:32 AM

Westgarth with possibly the best showing ever vs. Scott.

Posted by BritishRedWing on December 19, 2010 at 09:28 PM

I caught this one live. I saw it as a draw, and as such quite an improvement for Westgarth over the last one.

Posted by hockeyherman on December 20, 2010 at 09:55 AM

I saw an interview with John Scott after this game and he said that Westgarth actually challanged him to the fight! Hats off to Westgarth to get destroyed like he did last time and still come back and be willing to go with Scott agin!

Posted by Big_Fat_Dan on December 20, 2010 at 07:18 AM

Fairplay to Westy, a lot of fighters would have stayed clear after that last beating he took from Scotty. But he had a decent go here, Scott shades it. But Westy gets all the credit. I want Scott to take on Booger, Orr, Godard, Thronton now to see how good he actually is.

Posted by sourheart on December 19, 2010 at 10:18 PM

Decent fight... Draw

Posted by samtheman on December 22, 2010 at 06:26 AM

Westgarth really impressed me with that showing. I'm giving it a draw based on the way he hung in and came on strong at the end. Not too many would go again with Scott after the last fight.

Posted by straightup on December 20, 2010 at 02:15 AM

Credit to Westgarth for returning for round 2 after the beating that was round 1. More credit for doing as good a job against Scott as anyone (hey when's that big guy going to fight a big guy?). But Scott controlled the fight so he gets the win. Westgarth isn't going to land too many punches when he's showing Scott the back of his helmet.

Posted by LordKOTL on December 21, 2010 at 01:33 PM

In Round 2 Westgarth fares much better, but still loses.

Posted by tim daddy on December 20, 2010 at 09:52 AM

another example of the bored john scott, not the angry one, still he gets the edge here.

Posted by Oil Can Henry on December 20, 2010 at 01:52 AM

No blow-out this time - but, Westgarth loses again,.....

Posted by Raoul Duke 708 on December 20, 2010 at 06:58 PM

Who is putting this as a draw? Scott landed about 5 shots, Wg landed none. Easy win for Scott.

Posted by DuncanK2 on December 20, 2010 at 01:59 AM

closer than the last one but still a win for scott. westgarth seems to be hiding his head in the beginning

Posted by chad420 on December 20, 2010 at 10:04 AM

Big John Studd edges The Hanson Brother....much better showing and tactics by THB

Posted by muskokadangler on December 20, 2010 at 05:15 AM

Scott was in complete control!!! As Much as I tend to diagree with Sedinfan on alot of reviews...He hits the nail on the head here!!!! These guys are freaks of nature!!!!

Posted by lydiascats on December 21, 2010 at 04:59 PM

Props to Westgarth for learning from the first matchup. Scott with the win, but Kevin hung in pretty good, especially compared to last time.

Posted by Montana on December 20, 2010 at 09:30 PM

Another win for Mr. Scott

Posted by rocky7482 on December 20, 2010 at 01:02 PM

Gutsy showing by westgarth

Posted by hncreature on December 19, 2010 at 10:13 PM

Gotta go with Scott again...that "couple in at the end" looked like only one solid one somewhere in there - Good to see Westgarth not back down

Posted by LaniPani on December 20, 2010 at 09:43 AM

Scott easy. The kid was happy to survive....

Posted by NYRfan1724 on December 21, 2010 at 03:10 PM

Westgarth held his own but got a couple of big ones to the face

Posted by hawksfan81 on December 20, 2010 at 12:47 AM

Kevin Westgarth did much better this time, not that that's an accomplishment. Scott remains undefeated.

Posted by Behn Wilson on December 20, 2010 at 02:46 AM

A feel-good loss for Garth Hanson. I'm starting to believe that Scott's number choice, is Grimson related, after all.

Posted by MIXEDUPTHROWDOW on December 20, 2010 at 06:36 PM

My 1st response was "does westgarth like to get destroyed?" I thought he was gonna be a bloody mess again. Scott landed some heavy punches but Westgarth hung tough. Slight edge to Scott/
