Barnaby hits Brookbank along the boards and the two push and shove before dropping the gloves. They grapple in close and Brookbank throws four rights to the back of Barnaby's helmet. Barnaby tries to get his right arm free as Brookbank connects with four rights that hit the top and side of Barnaby's helmet. Brookbank shoves Barnaby against the glass and lands three more rights to the back of Barnaby's head, knocking his helmet off. The two wrestle around in tight and Brookbank throws a left before the two exchange quick rights. Brookbank lands five more rights to the back of Barnaby's head before Barnaby shakes his head and tells the linesmen to stay away. Brookbank says something to Barnaby just as Barnaby lands a straight left. The linesmen come in and the two yap at each other before skating off to the penalty box. Other Penalties: Brookbank received an interference.

Bryan Allen is hit hard into the boards by Martin Lapointe while Allen is trying to play the puck up ice. Allen is slow to get up as Todd Bertuzzi goes after Lapointe and a scrum ensues. Allen returns to his feet and starts yapping at Lapointe. The players continue to push and shove as Jarko Ruutu drops his gloves, rips Andy Hilbert's helmet off, and start throwing lefts at him through the linesmen. Away from the pile of players, Keith and Burrows shove each other as Keith quickly drops his gloves and throws two rights before Burrows even has his gloves off. The two fall to the ice and quickly return to their feet as Burrows throws four rights while Keith tries to get an arm free. Keith then wrestles Burrows to the ice and waits for the linesmen to come in. Other Penalties: Jarkko Ruutu received a double roughing and misconduct; Andy Hilbert a roughing.

Nash hits Ott hard along the boards and then proceeds to skate after him up ice. Ott turns around and the two talk for a little before dropping the gloves. Ott lands two rights as Nash goes down to his knees. Ott lands two more rights that knock Nash's helmet off while Nash tries to get back on his feet. Ott then falls to the ice and the linesmen jump in.

Stevenson takes a run at O'Donnell along the benches and O'Donnell challenges Stevenson in retaliaton before the two drop the gloves and tie up. They wrestle around and then Stevenson throws an overhand as the two struggle to get an arm free. O'Donnell responds with a short right as Stevenson shakes off his elbow pad. O'Donnell lands two rights and Stevenson throws a right hook before losing his balance and falling to the ice. O'Donnell throws another right while Stevenson is falling.

Behind the play the sticks and gloves literally come flying down ice as the two shed their helmets and square off, skating down ice themselves. Guerin grabs ahold of Ballard along the boards and throws two rights and then the two grapple along the glass. Ballard tries a couple of locked-out rights as Guerin connects with two overhand rights to the back of Ballard's head before they fall to the ice.

Behind the play, McCarty gives Walker a shot from behind before the two drop the gloves and square off. McCarty grabs ahold of Walker and two throws two lefts that actually block the right hands of Walker. The two go toe-to-toe with short punches for a moment: McCarty with lefts; Walker with rights before McCarty loses his balance and goes down to a knee. Walker lands two rights to the back of McCarty's helmet as he returns to his feet. Walker then throws five rights and McCarty answers with two lefts and then the two start to grapple. Walker gets free and throws a flurry of five rights as McCarty tries to duck away from the punches. The two tie up and wrestle around to get loose. Walker then lands a short right to the side of McCarty's head. They wrestle around some more as Walker misses with a right over the top before pushing McCarty down to the ice.

The two connect with simultaneous lefts and Iginla lands two more lefts to the back of a bent over Jackman. Jackman throws a right before Iginla switches hands and lands a right uppercut. Jackman throws two more rights before losing his balance and falling to the ice. Iginla throws a couple of rights while Jackman is falling.

Some good hitting along the boards leads to hot tempers and everyone on the ice gathers in. Rupp drops the gloves with Hinote and ragdolls him as the rest of the players push and shove. Severson, playing in his first game with Columbus, separates away with Brad May and they agree to go. May starts off with three hard lefts to a ducking Severson, one of which looks to land. Severson recovers and ties May up momentarily. May again gets the left free and drills Severson with two very hard shots. Severson ducks and eats two more good lefts, before dropping to his knees where May gets in two last lefts to the back of his head. Severson gets back on his skates, but has no fight left in him and the linesmen come in to break it up. Other Penalties: Dan Hinote received a roughing; Michael Rupp a double roughing.

Yonkman lands a right cross before the two wrestle around in tight. They exchange short rights to the side of the helmet as they skate into the boards. Yonkman throws an overhand right and Neil throws two righs to the side of Yonkman's head. They continue to grapple in close quarters before they let go and Neil lands a straight left and two punches to the back of Yonkman's head as Yonkman tries to duck away. Neil lands another left and then the two tie up once more. Yonkman throws three rights in tight before the two just hold on, allowing the linesmen to come in. Other Penalties: Each player received a slashing.

Yonkman throws a right as Neil switches hands and lands a left before the two wrestle around in close quarters. Neil gets free and lands a right. Yonkman then loses his balance and the two fall to the ice. Other Penalties: Yonkman received a roughing.

Brashear chases down Kasparaitis and tries to get him to go for an earlier run at Forsberg. When Kasparaitis skates away, Brashear suckers him with a gloved punch from behind and Kasparaitis turtles. As Michal Rozsival and the linesmen jump in, Brashear hits him with three more gloved punches while he is on the ice. Other Penalties: Brashear received an instigator, holding, misconduct and game misconduct. Darius Kasparaitis did not receive a fighting major.

They exchange right hands and Erskine knocks Janssen's helmet off during the exchange. Erskine then throws three rights and a jersey-jab while Janssen returns fire with two rights. Erskine throws a couple of more jersey-jabs as Janssen shakes off his elbow pad and lands a hard right to the side of Erksine's head. Erskine comes back with a right of his own as the two struggle to get free. Janssen throws a right and the two go back and forth with right hands. Erskine is able to tie Janssen up and throw three more rights as Janssen throws one. They exchange words and Janssen cracks a smile before the two go back and forth with rights once more. The two yap some more before Janssen throws a jersey-jab and a right while Erskine connects with a right cross. Erskine then throws two uppercuts as the linesmen come in and break up the long bout.

They wrestle around in tight as Simon gets free and throws three lefts with Brookbank throwing one of his own. Simon gets Brookbank turned around and lands two lefts to the back of Brookbank's head. Simon then lands another left that knocks off Brookbank's helmet. Brookbank is able to duck under another left hand from Simon as Simon throws a left and two uppercuts that connect to the body. Brookbank is able to tie Simon up for a short moment, but is unable to get an arm free as Simon gets loose and throws four more lefts before switching hands and landing two right jabs. The two tie up and talk a little before the linesmen come in and end the fight.

May skates over and knocks Boogaard to his knees with a hit at the side of the Colorado net. Boogaard gets back up and shoves May as May pins him up against the glass. Boogaard drops his gloves and lands a left jab as May responds with a gloved left. The linesmen quickly try to jump in between the two as Boogaard tries to throw a right around the linesmen while May still has gloves and stick in hand. The linesmen continue to try and separate the two as May throws a short left that hits the front of Boogaard's helmet. Things finally calm down and the two skate to the penalty box. Other Penalties: Boogaard received a slashing.
