Behind the play the two drop the gloves and square off at the blueline, each player trying to grab ahold of one another. Simpson throws four lefts to the back of LaCouture's head while LaCouture tries to move away from the punches. LaCouture returns fire with a left and the two exchange a couple of quick lefts. Simpson connects with a right that knocks LaCouture's helmet off and lands two short uppercuts while LaCouture goes down to a knee. LaCouture returns to his feet, only to fall down once again just as Simpson throws a right. The linesmen then intervene and end the fight.

Doan crushes Alex Tanguay with an open-ice hit near the side boards earlier. Later, Laperriere skates over and challenges Doan. They drop the gloves and immediately tie up, each fighter struggling to get an arm free. Laperriere takes Doan's helmet off just before Doan gets an arm free and throws three rights and an uppercut while the two skate into the glass. Doan throws a right cross and Laperriere is able to pull his arm out of Doan's grasp, proceeding to connect with four rights to the back of Doan's head. Laperriere throws another right to the back of Doan's head with Laperriere's elbow pad hitting Doan. They grapple some more and Doan throws a short right, an uppercut, and a left before he throws Laperriere down to the ice.

A scrum develops in front of the Minnesota net in retaliation for Patrick Sharp and Kyle Calder trying to jam home a rebound. Off to the side, Veilleux drops his gloves and starts throwing rights at an unaware Vrbata. Veilleux tries to turn Vrbata around and get some more shots in but the linesmen are quick to get there and seperate the two. Other Penalties: Veilleux received an instigator, misconduct and game misconduct; Vrbata, Michal Barinka and Alex Henry each received a roughing. Radim Vrbata did not receive a fighting major.

The two step out of the penalty box, glance at each other, and drop the gloves. After squaring off at the blueline, Brashear grabs ahold of Cairns and throws four lefts with two connecting before losing his balance and going down to a knee. Brashear returns to his feet and throws another left while Cairns returns fire with five straight rights, one of them knocking off Brashear's helmet. Brashear is able to get Cairns bent over and then gets his left arm free, firing off three lefts. Cairns responds with a right and the two go toe-to-toe with punches for a short moment: Brashear with lefts, Cairns with rights. Brashear then throws three more lefts while Cairns tries to get his right arm free from Brashear's grasp. Cairns does and throws two more rights while Brashear loses his balance and falls to the ice.

Orr poke-checks Erskine along the boards, causing Erskine to trip over Orr's stick. Erskine gets back up and skates over to Orr with the two waiting until the puck moves away from them before they drop the gloves and square off. Orr grabs ahold of Erskine and throws a right, pauses, and then throws another right that clips the top of Erskine's helmet. Erskine returns fire with two rights that cause Orr to lose his balance. Erskine falls on top of him and the linesmen are in there quickly.

Murray nails Anton Volchenkov with a hard hit along the boards. Norton skates over, challenges Murray, and the two drop the gloves. They immediately start exchanging quick rights, neither fighter really landing a sold punch. Norton throws three more rights before he is wrestled to the ice by Murray. Other Penalties: Norton received an instigator and misconduct; Niklas Sundstrom a hooking.

Boughner and Henry meet up and drop the gloves near the benches. They grab ahold of each other fast and exchange a couple of quick lefts. Henry then lands a series of about three lefts. Boughner returns fire with lefts himself, the last one Henry attempts to avoid, but is leaning awkwardly, falls to the ice, and Boughner goes down with him. Henry's up fast and pulls Boughner up with him, but the linesmen break it up before they can continue.

Brashear loses his balance and throws a left that glances Belak's helmet before falling to the ice, taking Belak down with him. Belak gets a right in while the two are falling and the linesmen come in shortly after.

Mathieu Garon makes a save on Ryan Getzlaf and Parros and Fedoruk have words to the side of the play and drop the gloves as the puck is leaving the zone. They square off and Fedoruk grabs ahold of Parros and Parros throws a right to start things off. Fedoruk throws a right of his own and the two exchange a couple of long rights. Parros misses with a wide right and grabs hold of the back of Fedoruk's jersey, allowing him to connect with a few short lefts. They grapple for a long while, each fighter trying to get an arm free. Parros lifts Fedoruk's jersey partially over his face and throws a left jab before losing his balance and almost falling to the ice. Fedoruk captializes on Parros' near-fall and connects with two right crosses. Parros fires back with two rights of his own and shakes his elbow pad off. Fedoruk throws two more rights before bending over, allowing Parros to switch hands and connect with three lefts to the back of Fedoruk's head. The two then lose their balance and fall to the ice.

LaCouture nails Strudwick with a hard hit along the boards while the two are chasing after the puck. Strudwick takes exception and grabs LaCouture. Both drop the gloves and tie up immediately. They grapple in close quarters while LaCouture attempts some locked-out lefts. Strudwick gets an arm free and connects with a right. Strudwick gets LaCouture's helmet off while they wrestle around and proceeds to throw six straight lefts with LaCouture returning fire with one of his own. Strudwick then connects with seven unanswered lefts while LaCouture tries to duck away from the punches. The linesmen quickly intervene and the fight is over.

Dingman breaks into the Thrashers' zone and Greg de Vries almost catches up to him and helps him crash into the Thrashers' net, taking out Kari Lehtonen in the process. The puck crosses the line as Dingman does, but the goal is waved off. When Dingman gets up to protest Larsen grabs him and starts shoving. A gloved punch or two is tossed from each as a scrum ensues. They're in real close and Dingman throws a short shot with each hand before the two fall to the ice. Other Penalties: Garnet Exelby and Evgeny Artyukhin each received a roughing.

Hordichuk checks Rene Bourque along the boards and Barnaby comes in and challenges him. They quickly drop the gloves and grab ahold of each other. Hordichuk throws a quick over-under right combo, nothing landing. Barnaby returns fire with a right that also comes up short. They grapple and Hordichuk throws a right that misses. Hordichuk has Barnaby up against the glass and throws a couple of more rights with one possibly landing. Barnaby is holding Hordichuk off with his left arm and Hordichuk slides under it and then lands an over-the-top right, following it up with another that might have landed as well. They circle and Hordichuk mixes in an uppercut. Hordichuk has Barnaby awkwardly against the boards again and they slide over to the Preds' bench. They continue to wrestle around and Barnaby attempts a noogie on to the back of Hordichuk's head. Barnaby lands a couple of short rights and Hordichuk misses with a big right. Hordichuk then throws another big right that might have gotten the back of Barnaby's head. Barnaby, skating backwards, loses his balance and falls.

McGrattan grabs ahold of Peters and they hold each other at arms-length, exchanging a couple of jersey-jabs each. Peters throws three rights that hit McGrattan's helmet and McGrattan returns fire with a right that comes up short. McGrattan then throws two jersey-jabs and a right while Peters tries to lean away from the punches. Peters connects with two rights to the side of McGrattan's head before McGrattan throws a jersey-jab-right combination. They exchange jersey jabs, allowing McGrattan to throw a right that misses. They then throw two rights each, one of McGrattan's knocking Peters' helmet off. McGrattan throws another jersey-jab-right combination and the two go back and forth with a few long rights. They then tie each other up and stand there until the linesmen come in.

Sean Avery skates towards the net shortly after the whistle and sprays Jean-Sebastien Giguere with ice. Fedoruk and Vitaly Vishnevski push Avery and skate after him along the boards as other players join the scrum. Fedoruk and Avery exchange gloved punches while Cowan fights to get over to Fedoruk. Cowan then pushes Fedoruk and they grab ahold of each other, skating out into open ice. They grapple for a short while, each player trying to get loose. Cowan throws two lefts with one landing while Fedoruk continues to try and get an arm free. Fedoruk lands a short right and takes Cowan's helmet off while Cowan puts his head into Fedoruk's chest. Cowan throws an overhand left and Fedoruk responds with two rights just before Cowan goes down to his knees and Fedoruk holds up, allowing the linesmen to come in. Other Penalties: Fedoruk received a roughing.
