They start pushing and shoving in front of the Capitals' net and drop the gloves. Witt throws 4-5 rights to start things off as Marshall returns fire with two rights of his own. Witt throws another right as Marshall goes down to a knee for a moment. He gets back up and throws a few lefts while Witt is still throwing rights. Witt switches hands and throws two lefts before they get in tight and wrestle around, causing the linesmen to step in and end the fight.

Commodore hits Peter Schaefer along the boards as Schaefer gives him a shot in retaliation. They push and shove before both players skate away. Neil skates over and challenges Commodore as they drop the gloves. Commodore starts things off with a quick right before they hold on for a short while. Both players try to throw locked-out rights before Commodore gets free and throws a right cross. Commodore throws another right as Neil throws an overhand right while they spin around. Commodore loses his balance and falls to the ice before Neil switches hands and throws a couple of lefts while Commodore is on the ice.

LaRose slams Patrick Eaves into the boards from behind. As he tries to skate away, Chris Kelly drops his gloves and goes right after LaRose. LaRose falls as soon as Kelly grabs on to him. Kelly throws a right while LaRose is down as players start piling in. Other Penalties: Kelly received an instigator, misconduct and game misconduct; LaRose a boarding. Chad LaRose did not receive a fighting major.

Right off of the faceoff they drop the gloves and square off. Shelley grabs on and throws a short right that knocks Fedoruk's helmet off. Fedoruk then throws four quick lefts as Shelley comes back with three of his own. Fedoruk throws an overhand right before they grapple in tight. Fedoruk throws two lefts, rips Shelley's helmet off, and then throws 5-6 more lefts. They then go toe-to-toe with punches for a short moment: Fedoruk with the left; Shelley with the right. Fedoruk switches hands and throws two rights as Shelley returns fire with two rights as well. Fedoruk throws two rights to the back of Shelley's head before he turns Shelley around and throws him to the ice.

They come together along the boards while the linesmen try to seperate them. They drop the gloves and Foote lands two quick uppercuts with Konopka coming back with four rights that knock Foote's helmet off. They grapple before Foote throws another uppercut with Konopka throwing two overhand rights. Foote then pulls Konopka's jersey over his head and off his body before he slams Konopka to the ice. Other Penalties: Konopka received a game misconduct.

They start shoving after Brian Savage scores a goal and they drop the gloves near the blueline. Richards throws two rights as Exelby tries to duck under the punches and take Richards' helmet off. Exelby tries to grab Richards' helmet before Richards takes it off himself because he is wearing a visor. Richards throws a jersey-jab as Exelby misses with a couple of locked-out rights. Richards throws two more rights with Exelby returning fire with a right of his own. Richards then misses with a long left as Exelby throws a left while Richards' head is down. Exelby switches hands and throws a few rights before Richards throws two rights of his own. Richards loses his balance and falls to the ice before Exelby throws 3-4 punches while Richards is on his knees.

Simon shoves Hordichuk behind the play before they drop the gloves near the blueline. They quickly exchange punches: Simon with lefts; Hordichuk with rights. Simon then lands a left that nearly knocks Hordichuk off-balance. Hordichuk then switches hands and start throwing rights as Simon throws a few more lefts. Simon misses with a left as Hordichuk throws a few rights that knock Simon's helmet off. Simon then loses his balance and falls to the ice taking Hordichuk with him as he falls.

Thornton throws an elbow to the head of Jeff Giuliano behind the net and Gleason comes over and gives Thornton a shove right away. Gleason waits for Thornton, who pauses and then drops the gloves. They each toss the rights, about five a piece. Thornton has the reach advantage and they may have each landed at first, but the last few go to Thornton. Thornton then wrestles Gleason to the ice and the linesmen come in. Other Penalties: Thornton received an elbowing.

Bieska throws another right before they grapple, both struggling to get a hand free. Bieska throws an elbow as Ritchie comes back with a right. Bieska throws another elbow before both miss with punches. Bieska then slams Ritchie to the ice as Ritchie's jersey comes up over his head.

Wideman throws some rights to start things off as Ott attempts a couple of locked-out rights. Wideman throws a long right while trying to keep his balance as Ott returns fire with a right of his own. Both throw a right hand as they wrestle up against the boards before each attempts a locked-out right. Wideman throws an overhand right as they fall to the ice. Ott gets in a punch while they are down.

Janssen puts a nice hit on Mats Sundin and Tucker comes over to challenge the rookie. They drop the gloves and grab on. Tucker gets loose first and lands a nice right to the left cheek. Tucker gets free and starts throwing several more rights, the first two with his helmet stuck on his sleeve. Janssen throws a right of his own, and they grab on with Tucker trying to work his way out of his sleeve. Janssen now starts throwing some very good occassional rights while Tucker seems to have tired. Janssen catches Tucker with a few good ones of the half dozen or so he throws. Janssen then waives the linesmen off and throws some more rights, one of which really caught Tucker and made him bury his head. At the end they have one more brief exchange with a few more rights from Janssen and Tucker trying to answer with his right and then with a left. Janssen is cut on the left cheek, either from Tucker's first punch or from the helmet. Other Penalties: Tucker received a head butting major.

As Evgeni Nabokov plays the puck behind the net, Gorges comes up and gives Nabakov a shot from behind, knocking him to the ice. Rycroft goes right after Gorges and they drop the gloves. Gorges throws two rights before Rycroft throws him to the ice. Rycroft then throws a right while they are down. Other Penalties: Rycroft received a goaltender interference.

Jovanovski throws two body shots as Wiemer throws a right and a short uppercut that knocks Jovanovski's helmet off. Jovanovski throws a few long rights as Wiemer returns fire with a few rights. Jovanovski throws three rights as Wiemer misses with a right. The two then hug until the linesmen come in.
