Leafs-Habs Boils Over, Grabovski in the clear

| John Chandler

The Leafs notched a blowout win over the Habs on Saturday night and tensions escalated in the third period as Toronto ran away with the game.

At the start of the period, Brandon Prust dropped the gloves and met Mark Fraser at center ice in an attempt to swing the momentum for Montreal. As was the theme for the night, Fraser mounted more offense in a bout that took place primarily in the spin cycle. Six minutes later, Mike Kostka grappled with Brendan Gallagher after Gallagher knocked Dion Phaneuf into James Reimer. It was the first NHL regular season fight for both players.

Things intensified after another Toronto goal. Colton Orr took a run at Tomas Plekanec. Orr was greeted by Rene Bourque and Bourque was promptly dropped to the ice with a right hand, earning Orr a trip to the locker room. Away from the scrum, Josh Gorges did his best to hold his own against Frazer McLaren.

However, the biggest story out of the game came out of a scrum in between fights, during which Max Pacioretty is claiming that Mikhail Grabovski bit him on the wrist. Grabovski met with the league today and will not be disciplined due to a lack of evidence.
