Nov 06, 2001 2pd 11:12 Scott Thornton @STL Bryce Salvador
Comments: They meet along the boards and it appears Salvador initiated the fight. Thornton got out of the gate early and was throwing them fast. He may have caught Salvador with a couple and Salvador tucked his head in. Then Salvador comes out of the clinch and throws a couple with one of them appearing to land and knock down Thornton. Thornton also appeared to have gotten knocked off balance when Salvador came out of the clinch.

Nov 24, 2001 2pd 03:19 Mark Smith @LOS Ian Laperriere
Comments: Smith and Lapperierre go in a spirited but short bout with each man throwning wildly. Smith grazes Lappy with a couple of punches then Lappy controls the later half of the fight with a punch or two that may have caught Smith. In the box, they are yelling at each other.

Nov 29, 2001 3pd 12:14 Jeff Jillson PIT Dan LaCouture
Comments: The Pens are down 4-0 in the 3rd and LaCouture is looking to send a message. LaCouture and Jillson decide to go off the face off. They get the gloves off and grab on. They throw punches at the same time. Jillson's right misses, but LaCouture's left lands solid to Jillson's face. After LaCouture lands his left he gets off-balance and falls. Jillson tries to take advantage and throws two rights. The first hits LaCouture's back and the second hits LaCouture's sternum. Once LaCouture is upright again Jillson throws a weak right that catches LaCouture's sternum again. LaCouture then begins to take over. LaCouture gets Jillson bent over and throws five left uppercuts, but they all hit helmet or chest. LaCouture then tries three straight lefts. The first two hit Jillson's helmet and the third hits Jillson's back. While the third left is being thrown LaCouture gets Jillson's helmet off. Jillson is still bent over when LaCouture throws a right uppercut that might have landed. The punch gets Jillson to stand upright again and he tries a right that hits LaCouture's back. They start to spin a little and LaCouture looks to get the left going again. LaCouture tries five straight lefts, all of them either hitting the top of Jillson's head or his face. While LaCouture is throwing the lefts Jillson attempts a weak left that hits LaCouture's right shoulder. They are now visably tired. Jillson tries to come over the top with a right, but catches nothing but air. They spin a little more and LaCouture tries two more lefts. The first an uppercut that comes up short and the second a straight left that hits the top of Jillson's head. They are ready for the end bell now an the linesmen step in.

Nov 30, 2001 1pd 19:59 Mark Smith @ANA Kevin Sawyer
Comments: Sawyer and Smith go right in front of the net. Smith kind of jumps Sawyer from behind, but Sawyer recovers well. Smith throws a wild right not connecting, Sawyer then wildly throws 6 to 7 wild haymakers maybe landing a few to the top of Smith's helmet. By now, Sawyer is pulling the undersized Smith around the ice wildly and Smith falls to the ice. Other Penalties: Smith and Sawyer received roughings; Bryan Marchment a hooking.

Dec 30, 2001 2pd 17:25 Owen Nolan PHO Todd Simpson
Comments: Simpson gets the early start, as he hits Nolan with 2 or 3 lefts. Nolan goes down, but gets right back up. Simpson tries a few more lefts, maybe 3, none of which land cleanly. Nolan comes back with 5 or 6 rights, but they hit mostly helmet. Simpson then throws two more lefts, the first one missing, the second one landed really good, and Nolan went down to the ice.

Date Time Player Team Opponent
Jan 02, 2002 1pd 07:25 Bryan Marchment PHI Todd Fedoruk
Comments: Fedoruk lays a nice hit on Vincent Damphousse and Marchment initiates a fight. Marchment throws a weak right to start the fight and then they grab unto each other. Grappling now, Marchment has an excellent grip on Fedoruk's right arm and throws some weak rights to Fedoruk, one looked as though it landed. Fedoruk still cannot get his right free so he switches to the left and him and Marchment start throwing lefts. They throw 3 each when Fedoruk's second left buckles Marchment and sends him down. Marchment was extremely pissed on the ice and kept trying to throwwhile Fedoruk showed class by not pummeling him when vulnerable.

Jan 02, 2002 1pd 13:12 Scott Thornton PHI Chris McAllister
Comments: McAllister checks Thornton behind the net and away they go. Thornton gets the jump on McAllister and starts with a quick right that goes over McAllister's left shoulder; another quick right that lands to the side of McAllister's head/helmet. While he is throwing a third right that goes into McAllister's chest, Chris throws a short right that grazes Thorton's chin. Thorton is holding on now and McAllister winds up a huge right that hits the left shoulder/armpit area. McAllister then winds up a huge right uppercut that probably landed to the chest, but is impossible to tell due to the camera angle. At this point Thornton is just interested in surviving and is keeping real close to McAllister. Mcallister has the right hand cocked for a while and throws a big right uppercut that hits Thornton's chest and grazed his chin. the momentum of the punch gives Thornton the oppurtunity to grab unto the right hand so McAllister winds up with a huge left that connects to the head and has Thornton moving backwards. Thornton tries to recover by throwing a left while off balance that misses short and crosses him up. Vulnerable now with no way to strike Thornton leans back as McAllister throws two more right hands at Thornton, one of which was basically a forearm to the back and the other landing to the back of Thornton's helmet in which the momentum brought them both to their knees. The linesman then jump in.

Jan 02, 2002 3pd 15:25 Bryan Marchment PHI Donald Brashear
Comments: In the third period, Marchment lands a huge open ice check on Brashear that wobbles the great hugger. Later on, Brash goes looking for revenge, but Marchment went for the immediate takedown and for some reason the linesman give them both majors. WHY? Who knows…

Jan 05, 2002 1pd 19:30 Scott Thornton FLA Paul Laus
Comments: As Ricci scores the Sharks second goal, Laus and Thornton are grinding behind the net. As the goal horn was sounding, the two were slinging the mitts. Laus gets going first, tossing a couple that may have caught Thornton in the side of the neck. They spin around and bounce off the boards and that enables Thornton to take control. Scott throws 5 quick shots, looking to have landed on 2. Laus gets a couple more off of his own before Thornton gets in another. They grapple and fall to the ice.

Jan 05, 2002 3pd 16:09 Mark Smith FLA Lance Ward
Comments: Occured during one of many mini-scrums in the game. The much smaller Smith here threw and landed more punches. Ward looked surprised by Smith's willingness and was off balance most of the fight. Other Penalties: Paul Laus received a roughing and misconduct; Ward received a slashing.

Jan 17, 2002 2pd 09:32 Shawn Heins NYI Jim Cummins
Comments: After a whistle, Heins accepts Cummins earlier challange and drops the mitts. Heins fires off a couple of shots with one landing good. Cummins then pulls Heins jersey over his face and head, from the front. Heins is blinded, but continues to fire rights, as Cummins tags him about four or five times, throwing five punches, one being real hard and landing. Heins landed probably 4 shots throughout the fight, to Cummins five or six. A real exciting scrap here. Heins suffered a broken jaw.
Voted winner: Jim Cummins (81.0%) - Voted rating: 6.3

Comments: Green of the Oilers goes with Matt Bradley fight off the face off and the two just start ripping the punches away exchanging punch for punch. Green landed more and possibly harder. Green was checking his hand as he was skating off the ice.

Jan 29, 2002 3pd 04:59 Bryan Marchment @TOR Tie Domi
Comments: These two get roughings, right out of the box they hook up again. Domi started with his left. For the most part neither guy really landed anything solid. Marchment lost his balance early, but Domi couldn't capitalize. Most of the punches missed, were muffled via sweater handcuffing, or hit the helmet. Domi lost his helmet, but Marchment was unable to capitalize either. In the end they both went down, Domi on top of Marchment. Other Penalties: Marchment received an instigator and misconduct.

Jan 30, 2002 3pd 18:01 Matt Bradley @PIT Dan LaCouture
Comments: Harvey runs Kaspar after the Whistle, Tibbetts comes in with the gloves already off to hug Harvey, I thought they were going to make out. Away from it Lacouture and Bradley are locked up and were warned if they fought they were both gone. Well Lacouture should of listened to the warning and skated away, because they did go and it looked like Bradley landed a good right that put LaCouture down, not sure if it was a tko, Danny looked ok, he was also firing wildly, but Bradley landed a good right after missing a big right. Other Penalties: Todd Harvey received a boarding.

Mar 03, 2002 1pd 19:00 Bryan Marchment @DAL Derian Hatcher
Comments: Nice square off, then both get in with each right cocked. Each throws a few that hit nothing, then they each start throwing haymakers, rabbit style. Not sure of the land count. Hatcher gets Marchment in a headlock and gets in a few uppercuts. Marchment gets the takedown and a couple of shots in while on the ground. Other Penalties: Marchment received an instigator and misconduct. The instigator penalty was later removed by the NHL.

Mar 05, 2002 1pd 12:25 Scott Thornton NAS Cale Hulse
Comments: They came together behind the net and dropped the gloves. Hulse throws a right and misses. They decide to slow dance with each other... Thornton tries a couple of nooggies and the linesmen mercifully break the 2 sluggers up.

Mar 05, 2002 3pd 13:15 Owen Nolan NAS Cale Hulse
Comments: Nolan gets a whack behind the net and goes looking for someone. Hulse drops gloves.Nolan starts throwing rights. He looks to connect with a couple of decent ones to start things. Hulse just tries to keep his head down. Nolan hits Hulse on the back of the helmet with about 3 more. Nolan gets in a tight right that stuns Hulse, then lands a huge power left that draws blood and the refs.

Mar 13, 2002 2pd 14:21 Gary Suter STL Dallas Drake
Comments: Drake and Suter chase a puck that goes behind the Shark's net. Drake is more interested in landing a big hit on Suter than gaining control of the puck however and both men go down. Suter sits on Drake for a while until the back of the net clears a little, then both men get up. Drake takes a shot at Suter who fires a harder one back. Drake gets pissed and drops his gloves, and they go. Suter looked to have gotten 2, maybe 3 shots in while Drake layed in 3 or 4 shots, none that looked solid. Suter threw a punch that made him lose his footing and he went down, dragging Drake down with him as he fell. Afterwards Drake appeared to be bleeding. Other Penalties: Suter received a roughing and double high-sticking; Drake a roughing.

Apr 10, 2002 2pd 16:51 Matt Bradley @CBJ Grant Marshall
Comments: Marshall comes in along the corner boards and checks Bradley with a bonus glove to the face. Bradley is pissed and immediately drops the gloves and starts throwing. Both guys are throwing bombs, nothing seems to land real clean, but it's hard to tell. Bradley seems to be running out of gas and has his right stuck in his sleeve with the elbow pad. Marshall gets him down and its over.

If the opponent's team is preceded by a @ symbol, then opponent's team was the home team. Otherwise the San Jose Sharks were the home team.
