Oct 10, 2001 2pd 08:11 Mike Wilson NYI Steve Webb
Webb hit Wilson by a blueline, Wilson turned around gave Webb's stick a whack, Webb whacked back and they dropped the gloves. The two each threw about 4 or 5 punches back and forth. Wilson then landed one that sent Webb down. Wilson skated away as Webb popped back up. Neither looked like they even fought. Weird. Wilson had a 6-inch height advantage. Also: Webb wore a Jets hat during an intermission interview. Nothing to do with the fight, just a good home team thing going on.

Oct 14, 2001 3pd 19:57 Josef Melichar @BUF Rob Ray
With less then a minute to play, Ray and Melichar drop the gloves in the neutral zone. Quickly they start throwing big punches. Little are landing, perhaps Ray got one in and Melichar a small shot. Melichar was throwing wildly while Ray seemed to be pulling him around at will. With balance being what it was each fell easily. Ray was smiling while being escorted off the ice.

Nov 17, 2001 1pd 04:20 Krzysztof Oliwa NYR Dale Purinton
Oliwa sought Purinton out trying to get something going. The two of them locked up and both threw a right hand which may or may not have connected. From there on out Oliwa locked Purinton out tying up his hand while throwing a few rights. Only 1 punch landed on Dale and it hit as much of his helmet as anything else knocking it off. Purinton then tried to get his left free and as he did Oliwa fell to the ice. When Oliwa was down Purinton connected with a left (the punch was already being thrown when Oliwa fell).

Nov 23, 2001 1pd 03:14 Krzysztof Oliwa @NAS Stu Grimson
Oliwa controlled the first half of the fight, and Grimson had the edge in the second half. Oliwa's first few punches landed, one which looked like it sent Grimson down. He then got right back up and started throwing. Looked like he landed one good punch. Oliwa might have thrown a few more then Grimson threw overall.

Fitzgerald runs Michal Rozsival and gets the elbow up, Tibbets right away drops the gloves and grabs Fitxgearld and they fall. That's it. 5 for fighting and they even threw in the instigator for Tibbets. Perhaps they were thinking of fighting and the refs knew. Mysterious majors strike again.

Nov 27, 2001 3pd 15:49 Billy Tibbetts NJD Ken Daneyko
Started with the Pens getting a too many men on the ice call. After the pentaly off the faceoff, Tibbetts runs into Daneyko at the point, and off come the gloves. After a nice little square-off, Tibbetts starts to fire some rights as Daneyko gets in tight. After that, Tibbetts was trying to throw some more, but Daneyko has a hold of his arms. Tibbetts had Daneyko's helmet off and his jersey almost over his head. The refs came in, but Tibbetts kept shaking his head and continued to try to get to Daneyko. Kasparitius had to help separate Tibbetts from Daneyko. Daneyko didn't throw anything.

Nov 29, 2001 3pd 12:14 Dan LaCouture @SAN Jeff Jillson
The Pens are down 4-0 in the 3rd and LaCouture is looking to send a message. LaCouture and Jillson decide to go off the face off. They get the gloves off and grab on. They throw punches at the same time. Jillson's right misses, but LaCouture's left lands solid to Jillson's face. After LaCouture lands his left he gets off-balance and falls. Jillson tries to take advantage and throws two rights. The first hits LaCouture's back and the second hits LaCouture's sternum. Once LaCouture is upright again Jillson throws a weak right that catches LaCouture's sternum again. LaCouture then begins to take over. LaCouture gets Jillson bent over and throws five left uppercuts, but they all hit helmet or chest. LaCouture then tries three straight lefts. The first two hit Jillson's helmet and the third hits Jillson's back. While the third left is being thrown LaCouture gets Jillson's helmet off. Jillson is still bent over when LaCouture throws a right uppercut that might have landed. The punch gets Jillson to stand upright again and he tries a right that hits LaCouture's back. They start to spin a little and LaCouture looks to get the left going again. LaCouture tries five straight lefts, all of them either hitting the top of Jillson's head or his face. While LaCouture is throwing the lefts Jillson attempts a weak left that hits LaCouture's right shoulder. They are now visably tired. Jillson tries to come over the top with a right, but catches nothing but air. They spin a little more and LaCouture tries two more lefts. The first an uppercut that comes up short and the second a straight left that hits the top of Jillson's head. They are ready for the end bell now an the linesmen step in.

At the faceoff, Oliwa tries to get Domi to go. At first it seemed he didnt want to, but then he dropped 'em. Domi quickly threw 4 or 5 shots, connecting on 2; the last one knocking Oliwa to the ice (not really hurting him though). Nothing thrown by Oliwa.

Tibbetts initiates, but Hordi takes it to him. After fighting nothing but heavies lately, this one seemed relatively easy to him. Holding with one arm he landed numerous punches, nothing substantial, but quite a few. Tibbetts didn't land any as Hordi got his jersey over his head early.

Dec 14, 2001 1pd 04:05 Billy Tibbetts MIN Andy Sutton
Tibbetts lays out Walz in the open ice which left anticipation for a fight. Sutton instantly got the upper hand with his reach, locked Tibbetts out, and began throwing. Tibbetts had his head turned to the side the whole fight to avoid the longer reach of Sutton, hence no damage done to either fighter. Sutton was in full control though.

Dec 21, 2001 1pd 02:22 Krzysztof Oliwa WAS Stephen Peat
They drop the gloves, shadow for a moment, and then come together with Oliwa getting the better position. He threw five punches with the first being a half uppercut, half straight right to the chin and 2 more off either the helmet or a off the forehead. Peat finally fought off the onslaught and they threw back-and-forth with Peat switching from his right to the left and stuns Oliwa with a solid shot to the face dropping Oliwa and Oliwa gets up, falls again. Peat then lands another decent punch and they get tangled up and they both fall over.

Simon gives LaCouture a bump after the whistle blows and says something to LaCouture. You could read LaCouture's lips saying "fuck you" and LaCouture drops his gloves immediately and they go. LaCouture hits 3 or 4 quick shots. Simon then gets one shot in and they hold on and fall down. LaCouture was firing speedy punches, but little strength on them.

Naz drops the gloves and skates towards Oliwa, and Oliwa drops his gloves. Oliwa throws a big punch that connects and puts Nazarov down on the ice! Nazarov starts to get up and Oliwa could've plastered him when he was getting up, but he respectfully let Naz get up. Then Naz held on and threw some punches, a bunch connecting to Oliwa's helmet. Oliwa tried throwing a couple more, but Naz had him in that bear hug.

Jan 19, 2002 1pd 02:53 Ian Moran @EDM Josh Green
The puck is touched up for icing in the Penguins zone and Green comes charging in and barely misses Kasparitis with a hit. Moran took exception and off came the gloves. Green had Moran in a vulnerable position, with his head ducked down, and proceeded to throw a flurry of around 5 rights to the back of the head. Moran doesn't really get going, as they jockey for position, and they trade rights, 2 or 3 each, Green throws an uppercut, not sure if it lands. The linesmen come in to break this one up. Other Penalties: Green received a closing hand on puck penalty.

Melichar started it. He crosschecked Dwyer in the face, to the left of Hedberg. Dywer and him started to get the gloves to each other and Melichar looked to drop them first. Nothing really happened in the fight though, a lot of wild swinging not much landing. Melichar then went off balance and banged his face off the ice pretty good, he was bleeding pretty good as well. Other Penalties: Dwyer received a roughing; Melichar a high-sticking.

Harvey runs Kaspar after the Whistle, Tibbetts comes in with the gloves already off to hug Harvey, I thought they were going to make out. Away from it Lacouture and Bradley are locked up and were warned if they fought they were both gone. Well Lacouture should of listened to the warning and skated away, because they did go and it looked like Bradley landed a good right that put LaCouture down, not sure if it was a tko, Danny looked ok, he was also firing wildly, but Bradley landed a good right after missing a big right. Other Penalties: Todd Harvey received a boarding.

Feb 28, 2002 1pd 02:54 Krzysztof Oliwa @CBJ Jody Shelley
First shift on the ice for Shelley, Oliwa comes in off the bench and they decide to dance. Throw off the gloves, come together at center ice, Shelley moves in - bam! - catches Oliwa with a left to the face that snapped the neck, then grabs a fistful of jersey with the left hand under the chin and throws a few uppercuts with the shirt. Oliwa gets the grip with the left also, they both start swinging in stereo trying to land haymaker rights. Doesn't look like much is landing, Shelley bounces a few glancing blows off the helmet, maybe catching some face, Oliwa bounces a few off the helmet also, starts to lose his balance, Shelley tosses him to the ice. Fight is over pretty quickly.

Mar 11, 2002 2pd 04:02 Dan LaCouture CBJ Lyle Odelein
Starts several seconds after a whistle stops play along the boards. Lots of grabbing and spinning early on. Lacouture starts off and lands with a weak left to the back of Odelein's helmet. He tries again and lands a noogie shot to the helmet. Lyle comes back a with a nice left that jilts Dan's helmet sideways. A really short Lacouture left finds the helmet again. Lyle comes in with a weak left to the helmet. Both guys unload lefts in stereo; Odelein grazes the left eye, Dan lands to the face. And again come the lefts from both; Lyle grazes the face, Lacouture comes up just short. And once again the lefts fly; Odelein lands a slight blow to the nose that appears to stun Dan whose punch loses momentum and fizzles out. Lacouture bends over and was likely finished with that last punch. Lyle adds another left to the back of the helmet. Dan is grabbing on close. That left definitely connected. Spinning. Lyle has a drop of blood on the bridge of his nose. Dan unburies his head from Odelein's chest and attempts a left but it's tied up. Odelein throws a left to the back/shoulder area. Again Lacouture can't uncork the left. Odelein throws, you guessed it, a left and it ain't doing nothing. The momentum carries both guys to the ice and it is over.

Tibbetts goaded Oliwa into droping his gloves earlier then he does on the ice, getting the Flyers a pp (and a pp goal). This time Tibbetts tries to get Oliwa to go by grabbing his jersey as Oliwa skates away. They drop 'em - lots of holding Oliwa's half undressed. Tibbetts spends most of the fight bent over. Oliwa throws 3, hitting Billy on the back, a soft one on Tibbs neck, then air. The go down. Other Penalties: Tibbetts received an instigator and misconduct; LeCalir received a holding.

Mar 27, 2002 1pd 02:50 Krzysztof Oliwa NJD Jim McKenzie
First shift, Oliwa wanted this without a doubt. He got McKenzie in the neutral zone and was challenging him. McKenzie declined. The puck went into the Devils end and once again Oliwa sticked Big Mac, who this time dropped his stick and gloves. They tied up and Oliwa let go a few short rights. Big Mac mostly was grappling. Oliwa once again tried to throw a few more, but McKenzie wouldn't open up. McKenzie then tried his right, but Oliwa had a good hold of his jackhammer. Oliwa lost balance and fell down. He got back up and then the linesmen came in.
