Avery straightens up while Leclerc throws a few more rights that don't land solidly. With his left arm locked onto Leclerc, Avery spins to throw a right of his own and Leclerc is knocked off-balance and falls to the ice while Avery lands the punch to the back of Leclerc's head. Avery throws a couple of more on the ice as the linesmen come in and break them apart. Other Penalties: Leclerc received an instigator and misconduct; Avery an elbowing.

McCarty then ends the fight by wrestling O'Donnell to the ice. Other Penalties: O'Donnell received an instigator and misconduct.

Comments: They start pushing and shoving along the boards and drop the gloves. Both fighters are wearing visors, but don't remove their helmets. They grab on and Ballard throws a short right, switches hands, and then throws two short lefts before Iginla wrestles him down to the ice. Ballard gets back up as Iginla misses with a right. Iginla rips Ballard's helmet off as Ballard is throwing rights. Iginla connects with an overhand right as Ballard attempts a body shot, but gets tied up. Iginla gets his left hand loose and starts raining down punches on Ballard while he is bent over. They tie up and Iginla throws a body shot. Iginla then throws a left that misses and knocks both players off-balance and to the ice. Iginla throws another left as they are falling.

Comments: Scatchard cross checks Marcel Goc from behind in the corner. Thornton's right next to the two and grabs ahold of Scatchard. Shane Doan attempts to break it up, but Thornton's got a good grip on Scatch and throwing rights over a scrum. They break away and Scatchard goes to his knees. Thornton throws a big left uppercut as Scatchard is getting up. Scatchard makes it up on his skates, but after just a moment or so of wrestling he falls and Thornton throws the lefts as the linesmen come in. Other Penalties: Scatchard received a cross checking.

Comments: Fedoruk nails Nedved with a high hit, a shot apparently avenging an earlier big shot by Gauthier on Lupul. O'Donnell is right next to the hit and drops the gloves. They grab onto each other and nothing is thrown for a while. The linesmen look to get involved a couple of times, but the two move out of the way while still holding on tight. Finally, after a good 20 seconds, punches are thrown, but nothing of consequence. Each may have landed one before Fedoruk gets off two uppercuts, one landing, as the linesmen come in. Other Penalties: O'Donnell received an instigator and misconduct; Fedoruk an attempt to injure match penalty.

They tie up as Ballard throws a couple of locked-out rights followed by 4-5 jersey-jabs while Lecavalier struggles to get loose. Lecavalier then throws four short rights as Ballard just holds on. Lecavalier tries to rip off Ballard's helmet as the linesmen move in.

Comments: Murray throws a bit hit on Doan. Doan gets back up and goes after him, dropping his gloves on the way. Murray gets ready for him by dropping his gloves and shedding the helmet. Murray grabs onto Doan and takes him down almost immediately. Doan tries to throw a punch from the ground, but Murray has him tied up well and the linesmen are already coming in.

Comments: Before the faceoff even begins, McLean and Comrie are already talking. Right after the two take the faceoff, they quickly drop the gloves. Comrie starts things off with a mix of 7-8 rights and uppercuts, a couple of them landing. McLean throws two rights in defense as Comrie continues to throw rights with McLean's left hand in his face. Comrie throws more rights towards the back of McLean's head as he is bent over, trying to avoid punches. Comrie lands three right hands as McLean stands back up. McLean misses with a right, allowing Comrie to land a right hand right on the button. Comrie throws two more short rights before they grapple for a short while; McLean trying to rip off Comrie's helmet during the struggle. Comrie is able to get himself loose and ducks out of McLean's way, skating further down so the two can square off once again. They grab on again with McLean throwing a short right, switching hands, and throwing a left as Comrie struggles to get free. Comrie gets loose and lands two rights to the back of McLean's head as McLean throws a right in response. The two exchange short punches before Comrie connects with a big uppercut. McLean goes down to his knees, obviously fatigued and the linesmen come in to end the fight.

Neil and Mike Ricci are pushing away from the pack until O'Donnell skates in and gives Neil a couple of shots with his stick before they drop the gloves. Ricci tries to get in another shot of his own but Peter Schaefer is there to push him away. Neil and O'Donnell wrestle along the boards as Neil gets his right hand free and throws one. Neil switches hands and throws two lefts as O'Donnell just holds on. O'Donnell gets free and lands two rights to the side of Neil's head just as Neil connects with a right. Neil tries to shake off his elbow pad as the two wrestle against the glass before O'Donnell throws a right that hits Neil's helmet. They grapple some more as Neil lands three overhand rights to the back of O'Donnell's head as O'Donnell fires back with a short rabbit punch. Neil switches hands and throws a left and an uppercut as O'Donnell throws a right. Neil lands two more rights to the side of O'Donnell's head before the linesmen come in and end the fight. Other Penalties: O'Donnell received an instigator, misconduct and game misconduct.

There's a quick scrum behind the net and these two break away after some gloved punches and facewashes. Gauthier gets off a quick right and Morrow returns fire with a couple of his own. Morrow then throws an over the top right and attempts an uppercut when Gauthier pops him with a right, sending Morrow to the ice with Gauthier on top.

They wrestle up against the boards as Gauthier throws a left that almost knocks Veilleux off-balance before landing two body shots. The linesmen come in shortly after.

They grab on as Mitchell throws two lefts to the side of Doan's helmet. They tie up and Doan misses with a right before Mitchell connects with a left hook. Mitchell loses his balance for a moment and returns to his feet as the two wrestle around. Mitchell throws two lefts as Doan is bent over before the linesmen intervene. Other Penalties: Mitchell received an instigator and misconduct.

O'Donnell lands two rights and Stevenson throws a right hook before losing his balance and falling to the ice. O'Donnell throws another right while Stevenson is falling.

Away from the action, Ballard and Perry talk a little bit before dropping the gloves, shedding the helmets, and squaring off. Perry grabs on as both players miss with overhand rights. Ballard switches hands and throws three lefts that come up short as Perry is able to turn his head away from the punches. Perry comes back with a right before he loses his balance and goes down to a knee. Perry slips again and Ballard throws two lefts that knock Perry back down to the ice. Perry gets back up as Ballard lands two rights and then Perry misses over the top with a right hook while the two spin around. Ballard grabs Perry by his jersey and throws him to the ice and the linesmen quickly rush in. Other Penalties: Derek Morris and Todd Fedoruk each received an unsportsmanlike conduct.

Comments: Right off the faceoff, these two drop the gloves and square off. Fedoruk dives in, landing the first left, and Gratton fires a few rights over the top of Fedoruk's ducking head. Gratton throws a good right combination that knocks off Fedoruk's helmet. At this point Gratton starts throwing wild rights, most of which are missing, while Fedoruk connects with a few well-placed shots while switching hands. The two fighters tie up and grapple before Fedoruk gets loose and winds up with a big left which he lands hard to Gratton's face. They get in close again with Gratton looking tired. Fedoruk throws two more rights over the top and the linesmen break up the battle.

Both players lose their balance and try to stay on their feet as Winchester throws an off-balance right. Winchester turns around and Gratton misses with an overhand right before the two fall to the ice. Gratton quickly gets back to his feet and is ready to continue, but the linesmen are right there.

Laperriere takes Doan's helmet off just before Doan gets an arm free and throws three rights and an uppercut while the two skate into the glass. Doan throws a right cross and Laperriere is able to pull his arm out of Doan's grasp, proceeding to connect with four rights to the back of Doan's head. Laperriere throws another right to the back of Doan's head with Laperriere's elbow pad hitting Doan. They grapple some more and Doan throws a short right, an uppercut, and a left before he throws Laperriere down to the ice.

Ballard crashes pretty hard, gets up and goes right for Witt. They quickly drop the gloves and grab ahold of each other. Witt gets in a left, and Ballard ducks to avoid more. Witt's able to land a couple of more lefts as Ballard loses his balance and pulls Witt to the ice. Other Penalties: Witt received a slashing and a cross checking.
