Oct 11, 2001 1pd 12:36 Stu Grimson CAL Craig Berube
Comments: Huggish with short nothing punches thrown. Nothing much here. After getting out of the box Grimson gets an unsportsmanlike conduct when he drops his gloves to fight Berube again and Berube skates away.

Nov 21, 2001 2pd 03:04 Stu Grimson CHI Bob Probert
Comments: Off the face off, the two were along the boards and start hugging by the corner. Probert threw a right that missed and then Grimson locked Probert out and threw several rights as Probert was trying to lock Grimson out, but failed due to Grimson's reach. Grimson then landed a couple of nasty rights square to the nose and face of Probie that snapped his back and forth.

Nov 23, 2001 1pd 03:14 Stu Grimson PIT Krzysztof Oliwa
Comments: Oliwa controlled the first half of the fight, and Grimson had the edge in the second half. Oliwa's first few punches landed, one which looked like it sent Grimson down. He then got right back up and started throwing. Looked like he landed one good punch. Oliwa might have thrown a few more then Grimson threw overall.

Nov 23, 2001 3pd 05:09 Tom Fitzgerald PIT Billy Tibbetts
Comments: Fitzgerald runs Michal Rozsival and gets the elbow up, Tibbets right away drops the gloves and grabs Fitxgearld and they fall. That's it. 5 for fighting and they even threw in the instigator for Tibbets. Perhaps they were thinking of fighting and the refs knew. Mysterious majors strike again.

Dec 08, 2001 1pd 14:11 Scott Hartnell EDM Ethan Moreau
Comments: TV picks it up as Moreau lands a right to the side of Hartnell's head and follows with another to the helmet of Hartnell which lands solidly and rocks him. As Hartnell is bent over, Moreau lands a right to his back. As Hartnell attempts to right himself, Moreau fires a wild right which misses and he slips to his knees. Hartnell lands a weak punch to the back and follows with a solid punch to the back of Moreau's helmet. Moreau is in a bad position now and the zebras come in. Hartnell lands another weak shot to Moreau's back.

Dec 08, 2001 1pd 19:00 Stu Grimson EDM Georges Laraque
Comments: With his team down 1-0, the Grim Reaper tries to wake them up by dropping the gloves with Big Georges. Laraque gets the helmet off, and connects with a flurry of about 6-7 lefts. Grimson tries to answer with some rights, he throws two, none really connected. Laraque connects with another couple of shots and a left that knocked Grimson down. As he's getting back up, the linesmen decide to break it up, and Grim throws two more as the refs break up this scrap, the only punches Grimson threw that landed decently. Other Penalties: Grimson received a misconduct.

Dec 12, 2001 2pd 08:19 Stu Grimson @NYR Sandy McCarthy
Comments: McCarthy gets knocked into Mike Dunham and Grimson goes after him. McCarthy sees him coming and gets the gloves up. Grimson is knocked off balance and goes down. McCarthy drops his gloves and lets Grimson get back up. Good showing of the code. Grim gets up, drops the gloves and grabs on. Both are in close along the boards. Grimson is trying to back up, but Mac is pulling him in. Grimson has his game face on! Tugging. Mac explodes a short uppercut that catches Grimson on the left side of the face. Another right jab blast jars Grimson's head sideways. Stu may be stunned and goes in tight. Mac tosses a right that may land to the side of the head, but not much damage is apparent. Another McCarthy right catches the top front part of Grimson's helmet and knocks his head back a bit which sends both guys spinning and McCarthy lands a big right to the Reaper's head. McCarthy lands another short right and throws another which hits Grimson's back. Still another quick right may have landed (hard to tell because of camera angle). Sandy's trying to get the helmet off and does. In close again. Along the boards. Mac lands a right to the chest. Grimson fires a mean right over McCarthy's head. Grimson is loose now. McCarthy let a left loose and grazes Grimsons nose. The Repear then fires back with a right that bounces off McCarthy's helmet. Grimson gets off balance and McCarthy fires another left that catches air. Grimson is down to a knee along the boards. The linesmen come in. Other Penalties: Grimson received a charging; McCarthy a goalie interference.
Voted winner: Sandy McCarthy (94.7%) - Voted rating: 5.5

Jan 08, 2002 2pd 19:56 Scott Hartnell @TOR Darcy Tucker
Comments: Hartnell gives Tucker a crosscheck in the back along the boards and Tucker ain't having that tonight. Darcy spins Hartnell around and is given a glove to the face. Now the gloves come off. Hartnell get things going with a short left that misses. Tucker follows with a right that grazes Hartnell's jaw. Oh yeah, Hartnell has a visor on. Tucker bends Scott over by landing a solid right to his ear. It's hard to tell if another right landed due to the camera angle. Another right from Darcy connects to the helmet. The next one misses. Hartnell's hand is wrapped up inside his own jersey and he launches a right that can't get going and tumbles to the ice. Tucker is pulled down as well. The linesmen are in and it is over.

Jan 28, 2002 3pd 19:30 Jeremy Stevenson @VAN Ed Jovanovski
Comments: Fair mano y mano square off. Ed dives in and they both grab on. Jovo tries a right that misses. Pushing and tugging. Two lefts from Stevenson and a return right from Jovo all miss. A wild right from Ed gets Stevenson's arm and a follow up right misses entirely. Again, Jovo throws wildly and crashes into Stevenson's shoulder area. A Stevenson left misses. Jovo slips down to a knee but quickly recovers and lands another right into the arm. Stevenson somehow misses a short right. Jovo throws three consecutive nothing rights. Jovo ducks a left and comes up throwing a right which bounces off Stevenson's helmet. Jovo ends up behind Stevenson and goes for the bodyslam. Down they go and it is over. Not a great fight, but it did have spirit.

Feb 06, 2002 2pd 18:31 Scott Hartnell DAL Scott Pellerin
Comments: Hartnell hits Pellerin while play is going on and Pellerin takes exception. Hartnell either obliged by taking off his helmet (both had visors) or Pellerin knocked it off. Doesn't matter. Neither player landed anything. Pellerin gets a pretty cool WWF takedown, but that's about it. Other Penalties: Pellerin received a roughing.

Date Time Player Team Opponent
Feb 09, 2002 1pd 06:19 Nathan Perrott @CBJ Jody Shelley
Comments: Two rookies going here. One established the other in his first NHL game. The camera gets in as they are tied up, but Shelley has his right hand loose. Perrott drags Jody's helmet off then catches Jody with a left forearm to the forehead. Both guys throw punches; Shelley with the right, Perrott with a left. Shelley connects to the shoulder and once again Perrott just misses. Perrott then lands three consecutive lefts to the head. A fouth misses. The camera angle is terrible as both guys do the right/left thing simultaneously again. Both go off balance. Perrott skips a right off the back of Shelley's head. Jody fires a right which just misses Perrott's nose. Once again, due to the camera angle, it's hard to tell about the punches but Perrott fires off three lefts. Two appeared to land to the face. Shelley also got in a right that may have landed. In close now. Shelley comes up and Perrott misses with a wild left. Jody is off balance and avoids another left and then another. They're really out of position now and Shelley is nearly in a headlock behind Perrott. Spinning. Perrott tries a right but he's locked out. A Shelley right is blocked by Perrott. Perrot throws two lefts which miss badly and a third weak left is lost by the camera. They're tied up again and Perrott lands a right uppercut to the stomach twice. Two more rights land to the ribs. Hugging and grabbing. In close Perrott tries a short right which ain't doing nothing. A shorter left grazes Shelley's jaw. Boy they're really holding on. Looks like a high school slow dance. Perrott tries a right uppercut but it gets lost in Shelley's jersey. Still in close. They bend each other over then straighten up. Jody lands a right uppercut to the stomach. Guess that was payback. Shelley is bleeding from a big gash across the nose. Perrott comes over the top with a forearm to the ear. Then lands a knuckle sandwich to the back of the head. Shelley comes around with a right which is deflected by Perrott's arm. Still in tight. Another right attempt from Jody comes up short. Looks like Perrott is gassed as he just won't open up. Jody drops a right into Perrott's ribs. And again. Well the zebras decide to come in as nothing is happening.

Feb 12, 2002 1pd 09:59 Nathan Perrott FLA Peter Worrell
Comments: After Worrell is leveled by Perrott, Pete gets up slowly and adjusts his helmet and sets his eyes on Nathan. The two go at it and Perrott starts throwing right away. Perrott gets off 4 quick rights to the back of Pete's head, then pushes Pete to the boards. Perrott then fires 2 more rights to the back of Pete's head. Perrott is in tight now and Worrell gets off 1 connecting with his left to the side of Nathan's helmet. Pete tries to throw another, but they're in so close that Perrott is able to block it. Perrott then takes his turn and fires another right, again hitting the same area in the back of Pete's head. Worrell then gets his right free and nails Perrott in the face, the best punch of the fight. Perrott then switches to the left, trying to get one in. Then Worrell throws another right, but Perrott is able to avoid it, they are just in to close to do any more and the refs take the opportunity to step in and seperate the two.

Feb 12, 2002 1pd 09:59 Reid Simpson FLA Joey Tetarenko
Comments: There was no coverage of this fight due to the camera on the Worrell-Perrott fight, just Denis Potvin saying they were going at it and then describing 1 solid overhand right that landed by Tets. The camera then pans in to show Tets grazing 1 shot as he rags Simpson to the ice. Other Penalties: Both players received game misconducts.

Mar 05, 2002 3pd 13:15 Cale Hulse @SAN Owen Nolan
Comments: Nolan gets a whack behind the net and goes looking for someone. Hulse drops gloves.Nolan starts throwing rights. He looks to connect with a couple of decent ones to start things. Hulse just tries to keep his head down. Nolan hits Hulse on the back of the helmet with about 3 more. Nolan gets in a tight right that stuns Hulse, then lands a huge power left that draws blood and the refs.

Mar 10, 2002 1pd 02:23 Reid Simpson @TAM Chris Dingman
Comments: The Camera cuts in and they're in front of the Preds' bench and each have their gloves off and a hold on each others right hand. Simpson throws a right that hits Dingman's shoulder. Dingman throws a right back that comes up short. They start to spin turning about three 360's before coming to a stop. They both throw rights as they stop. Dingman misses, but Simpson connects to the forehead or helmet of Dingman; the right knocks Dingman back and he almost loses his balance, but manages to stay up. They try and get better position again and Simpson throws another right that hits the back of Dingman's helmet. Dingman tries to return the favor, but misses. They fight for position a little more and Dingman throws 4 short soft rights that hit Simpson's helmet. Simpson then throws 2 rights. The first one connects with Dingman's left jaw sending his head for a short trip. The 2nd one hits Dingman's shoulder. They move around some more and Dingman pulls Simpson in close. While they are in close, Simpson attempts 3 rights but he's tied up too good and can't land anything. They tire and the zebras are in to break em up.
