Nov 21, 2001 2pd 03:42 Sami Helenius CAR Chris Dingman
Comments: Helenius and Dingman drop gloves on the faceoff. Helenius kind of pushed Dingman against the boards while Dingman kind of rope-a-doped Helenius. Then Dingman swings three times and connects on all three. Helenius then used his strength to slam Dingman onto the ice.

Dec 07, 2001 2pd 19:29 Darryl Sydor EDM Todd Marchant
Comments: Marchant was trying to get Martin Rucinsky to fight and then Sydor skated up to Marchant. Sydor landed a few punches while Marchant was trying to hold on. Marchant then went for the takedown.

Dec 14, 2001 1pd 15:07 Rob DiMaio CAL Bob Boughner
Comments: In the Calgary zone, both players drop the gloves. DiMaio slips and the refs come in, but DiMaio recovers quick enough and they square off. Boughner throws a couple of slaps and DiMaio turns his head giving the Boogieman some helmet. Boughner gets a couple of light jabs in and DiMaio gets one decent uppercut before they fall to the ice. Not much action.

Dec 15, 2001 1pd 19:48 Derian Hatcher @PHO Brad May
Comments: The two square off behind Dallas' goal. They dance a little and then grab hold. May swings and misses with a right. Hatcher swings and partially connected with his right (might have been a helmet shot). Then May wrestles Hatcher down and swings at him when he's on the ice. It's a draw and not an entertaining fight.

Dec 22, 2001 1pd 03:01 John Erskine @CBJ Jody Shelley
Comments: Shelley gets off a right to start the fight, then Erskine keeps his back bent over while holding Shelley's right. Shelly has Erskine's jersey so they are in pretty tight. Various swings with nothing landing, then Shelly avoids the stalemate and takes a chance by letting go. Both start swinging and they each get in a couple of shots before Erskine gets the takedown.

Dec 22, 2001 2pd 09:38 Steve Gainey @CBJ Kevin Dineen
Comments: Dineen throws 3 lefts and misses all 3. Then they decide to show their affection for each other by hugging for awhile and exchange Christmas wish lists. Gainey then tries to get one free and does. Then Dineen throws a big round house left and misses. His momentum takes him to the ice and the fight is over.

Dec 23, 2001 2pd 02:36 John Erskine @ATL Darcy Hordichuk
Comments: They bump into each and just throw the gloves off at the blue line. They each get in about 4-5 rights in their shoulders and helmets. Hordichuk then gets Erskine's sweater over his head and starts throwing away. He probably threw 3-5 shots and Erskine went on one knee (not really because he was getting hit, but because he couldn't see and Hordichuk was pulling him down with his left hand) and threw a couple rights that missed. Erskine then gets up and is able to get his sweater from over his head and it looks like they're ready to chuck knuckles a little while longer but the refs broke it up. Other Penalties: Pat Verbeek received an unsportsmanlike conduct.

Jan 05, 2002 2pd 03:55 Sami Helenius @STL Reed Low
Comments: Helenius didn't throw a punch after Low got his left going. (His right hand is injured according to Blues color man kelly Chase). Low threw a whole bunch of lefts from in tight and some got helmet maybe the side of Sammy's face, but nothing major.

Jan 05, 2002 3pd 09:05 Dave Manson @STL Reed Low
Comments: From the radio: Manson dumps Low and then the gloves come off. Low gets off a left and Manson comes back with a right. Then they exchange punches once more before Low gets off a flurry of 4-5 punches. Manson and Low both go down.

Jan 08, 2002 3pd 12:12 Sami Helenius @TAM Ben Clymer
Comments: They shove behind Dallas' net and Helenius get a left jab in with the gloves on. They both throw their gloves off and Helenius connects with a right to the face. He then throws two more rights that don't connect and then throws another right to the back of the helmet. Clymer is leaning back trying to avoid any punches Sami is now trying to throw. Helenius tries a few more rights that miss or land to the back of the head. Other Penalties: Helenius received a roughing.

Jan 18, 2002 1pd 11:53 Brenden Morrow FLA Brad Ference
Comments: They start in the Panthers end of the ice...The gloves come off and they immediately start to hold. Ference gets off a quick, weak left that connects to Morrow's face and then follows it up with another short left that barely connects. Morrow returns the love with three consecutive rights, one to the face, then the body, but Ference blocked his third one with his left arm as he was leaning back. After Morrow's three rights they hold on again. Ference tries to get his right free but they can't, as he does this they turn a full 360 degrees. Morrow gets his left free and throws an overhead punch to Ference's face, but I'm not sure if it connected because of the camera angle. After the punch they both go to holding, but Morrow momentarily gets each hand free but misses with a left and right. Ference then gets in two short lefts to the face and then Morrow gets a left free and they both connect with weak lefts. Morrow finally gets his right free again and throws three rights to Ference's head. The first was a weak punch, the second one looked a bit stronger, and the third one missed because Ference ducked out of the way. Now it's Ference's turn as he throws a quick left that looks like it just missed Morrow. As the linesmen try to step in, Ference unloads 7 lefts in a row. Out of the 7, probably 3-4 land. Morrow now gets a right free and throws two to Ference's head. Morrow goes to one knee but gets right up only to get another weak left to his face from Ference.

Jan 18, 2002 1pd 15:08 John Erskine FLA Joey Tetarenko
Comments: Erskine lands a right to the body and then follows with a big bomb to Tets' head. I'm not sure if the punch rattled Tets or if was a combo of the punch and shove with the left hand that Erskine has a hold of him with. As soon as Tetarenko stumbles Erskine lands another right to his head. Tets gets in a right but is met by 2 rights from Erskine with one possibly landing. Erskine has a hold of the front of Tets' jersey with his left hand and pulls it up over his face. After doing this he connects with two rights to his face, a weak right to the body, and then three big rights back to Tets face. They're now on the boards and Tetarenko gets a right off since he can see again. Erskine retaliates with a big right to the face and Tets answers with another right. Erskine decides to throws a right jab to Tetarenko's face, Tets misses a right and Erskine gets in another right jab, but this was a lot more powerful than the first jab. Erskine pushes Tetarenko against the boards and it looks like the refs are going to jump in to stop the fight, but they don't. Tets decides he should probably start throwing and gives Erskine four punches. The first was an overhead right that hits the back of Erskine's helmet, the second shot is an uppercut that hits an armpit, but the last two land to Erskine's face. Erskine tries to retaliate but misses a right. Tets tries to connect with a right of his own but misses. He then gets a right hook from Erskine that lands on the back of his helmet. The refs jump in to stop the fight.
Voted winner: John Erskine (76.9%) - Voted rating: 7.7

Jan 18, 2002 2pd 08:59 John Erskine FLA Paul Laus
Comments: It wasn't much of a fight but Laus was the only one that threw punches (2 or 3 of them) and he may have landed 1. Laus also got the takedown. Other Penalties: Rob DiMaio and Laus each received roughings.

Jan 18, 2002 3pd 08:27 Derian Hatcher FLA Peter Worrell
Comments: Worrell lays a huge hit on Hatcher and stands over him. Hatcher gets up and the gloves come off. The fight starts with 5 straight Worrell rights, most connect but they're not big shots. They then exchange rights, but Worrell has his left arm extended and is holding Hatcher off. Worrell connects with two more rights, but Hatcher throws 4 straight rights back at Worrell. Worrell answers with a couple of punches and Hatcher can only answer back with one more punch. Hatcher is getting pushed around by the reach and strength of Worrell's left arm. Worrell throws two more rights to the back of Hatcher and the refs jump in.
Voted winner: Peter Worrell (85.0%) - Voted rating: 5.1

Jan 18, 2002 3pd 12:46 Jamie Langenbrunner FLA Ivan Novoseltsev
Comments: Novo crosschecks Langenbrunner as they go in front of the Panther goalie (Trevor Kidd). Langenbrunner doesn't take too kindly to that and gets another shove from Novo. He shoves Novo back and they decide to throw. Langenbrunner gets in a shot to the body and the two come briefly together. Novo throws three overhead rights that connect to Langenbrunner's head, and then throw three more weak head shots in after they hugged for a couple seconds. Then it's all Langenbrunner. He throws 3 uppercuts that connect while he's pulling Novo's jersey over his head. Novo is able to get free and they both connect with rights (Novo's jersey it still on). Langenbrunner then goes back in and gets Novo's jersey completely over his head and gives him three uppercuts to mark the occasion. With Novo's jersey off Langenbrunner feels the need to try and connect with two more uppercuts. Between the uppercuts Novo did get a right fist in that might have connected. After the last uppercut Novo goes down and covers up. Other Penalties: Novoseltsev received an instigator and misconduct.
Voted winner: Jamie Langenbrunner (76.9%) - Voted rating: 5.6

Jan 21, 2002 1pd 05:46 Sami Helenius @CBJ Jody Shelley
Comments: Camera get in as the two are clutching and grabbing. Helenius is holding Jody off with the left while Shelley has a left hand full of collar. Jody's right is free. Shelly is feeding Helenius pieces of his left knuckle by pushing his fist into his face while holding his left collar. Annoying no doubt. Oooh, he actually made that short left count as Helenius' head snaps back. There's another one to the jaw. Jody gives him three more of the really short lefts. No damage done but they are making contact. Sami pushes him away as he's getting aggravated with it all. Funny thing, now Helenius has a left full of collar and is feeding Shelley some of the three inch piston shots. He pushes about three of'em into Shelley's jaw. Shelley ain't having it and lands a long right to the jaw. This removes Helenius' helmet who returns a right but it's hard to call due to the camera angle. Another right from the Finn rocks the back of Shelley's helmet. Jody is game and returns a right that falls way short. Locked out a bit now and Helenius fires another hand-full-of-collar left to Shelley's jaw. Shelley let's go with a big right that appears to graze Helenius' face which is sporting a little blood from the nose. Shelley is bent over and locked out. Helenius throws a nothing right and then misses with a left. Now Shelley throws a few hand-full-of-collar lefts. Blah, blah, blah... Ouch! As Shelley straightens up he is met by an incoming left to the eye. That hurt. Luckily he gets bent over again which causes a second left to miss. Jody straightens up with a purpose and fires a right which grazes Helenius' face. Another right grazes as well and a third doesn't quite make it. Helenius lands a right to the helmet and then both guys miss rights. Ding Dong! Heavy duty rights in stereo and it is on! Another Shelley right drills the right side of Helenius' face while Sami's right goes off course. Another Shelley right lands to the jaw as he evades a Helenius right. It's non stop as Shelley connects to the forehead this time while taking one on the top of his helmet. Write it down, Helenius came up on the short end of that barage and his bell is ringing. He buries his head in Shelley's chest and is wondering where the linesmen are. Shelley lands nine noogie shots while in tight. They're in real close and the linesmen are circling. Helenius is facing his opponent now and gives Shelley a short left semi-uppercut that lands to the jaw. Well Helenius' helmet has popped back on and off goes Jody's! Weird. They're still in close and Shelley ends up behind Helenius and fires a heavy right into the back of his helmet. Off balance now and down they go. Some blood on the ice and Shelley's jersey. The zebras hop in but these two are finished. Helenius may have a cut near the right eye too.

Feb 06, 2002 2pd 18:31 Scott Pellerin @NAS Scott Hartnell
Comments: Hartnell hits Pellerin while play is going on and Pellerin takes exception. Hartnell either obliged by taking off his helmet (both had visors) or Pellerin knocked it off. Doesn't matter. Neither player landed anything. Pellerin gets a pretty cool WWF takedown, but that's about it. Other Penalties: Pellerin received a roughing.

Feb 08, 2002 2pd 02:50 John Erskine EDM Georges Laraque
Comments: The two square off in front of Belfour. Erskine threw about three punches, one might have hit Laraque in the face, but the other two were shoulder/stomach shots. Erskine then had his head in Laraque's chest and he was just holding on so Georges couldn't get any punches off.

Mar 03, 2002 1pd 19:00 Derian Hatcher SAN Bryan Marchment
Comments: Nice square off, then both get in with each right cocked. Each throws a few that hit nothing, then they each start throwing haymakers, rabbit style. Not sure of the land count. Hatcher gets Marchment in a headlock and gets in a few uppercuts. Marchment gets the takedown and a couple of shots in while on the ground. Other Penalties: Marchment received an instigator and misconduct. The instigator penalty was later removed by the NHL.

Mar 06, 2002 2pd 05:23 John Erskine LOS Ken Belanger
Comments: Erskine just went after Belanger. Belanger got the jersey up quick over Erskine's head and landed 9 straight lefts! Refs mistimed the break up in their attempt to save Erskine further punishment and in grabbing Belanger first, Erskine got in a decent shot.

Mar 30, 2002 2pd 11:11 Randy McKay @EDM Scott Ferguson
Comments: McKay wanted a piece of Brewer, but that didn't happen. Brewer skated to the bench. Marchant came over and shoved McKay, who shoved back. Staios came in and it looked like they were gonna go, but Staios also skated off to the bench. On came Ferguson, and off came the gloves. In-tight grappling now, as they have each other tied up pretty good. Ferguson tries some lefts, 3 or 4, which landed, but weakly because of McKay's grip on Ferguson's left arm. McKay respnods with some rights which land to the helmet. More in tight grappling. Ferguson tries a left, but misses and is off-balance. McKay connects with a couple of right jabs and down goes Ferguson with McKay on top.

Mar 30, 2002 2pd 18:15 Brenden Morrow @EDM Ethan Moreau
Comments: Morrow laid a big hit on Moreau (go ahead, say it out loud), and Moreau retaliated. Moreau dropped the gloves first and got in two overhand rights before Brendan Morrow dropped his gloves. Morrow gets his gloves off and Moreau goes down to the ice as he loses his balance trying to throw a haymaker. Other Penalties: Moreau received a roughing.

Apr 07, 2002 3pd 15:26 Manny Malhotra @ANA Aris Brimanis
Comments: It started with a big hit by Brimanis on Malhotra. Malhotra took exception to the hit, and off come the gloves. They grab on and Brimanis loses his balance and goes down with Malhotra on top. This shouldn't have warranted 5 minute majors.

Comments: Laperriere knocks Modano to the ice and Erskine comes skating at him with a full head of steam with the gloves off. Not a lot landed and it was over a little too soon. The two fall fast, and that's it. Other Penalties: Erskine received an instigator and misconduct.
