Rosehill passes coach's test with flying colours
www.torontosun.com
Filling in for the injured Colton Orr, whose 128-game streak as a Leafs ended with him going on IR after a head injury in a fight, Rosehill played about six minutes, had a couple of hits, stayed out of the box and let Mike Brown handle the only fight. There was a bonus assist, too, on linemate Tim Brent’s goal.
“He was physical and he helped set up our only goal,” Wilson said. “What we want is physicality, finish your checks and don’t be any kind of liability out there. He’s not, he fits that role perfectly.
Iggy's skills hard to ignore

Flames head coach Brent Sutter played with or against almost every other player on that list. He compared Iginla to the likes of Cam Neely, Rick Tocchet and Clark Gillies for having a power game and used Iginla’s clutch insurance goal in Friday’s 7-4 win to prove his point.
“He got in there hard on the forecheck, finished a check, battled for the puck and got it behind the net. Then he drove the net and got it back and was able to capitalize on it,” said Sutter of Iggy’s goal to make it 6-4 Flames Friday at the Saddledome. “That’s what a very good player like Jarome will do. He’ll score those big goals at big times.”
Tie Domi returns as coach
www.thepeterboroughexaminer.com
The 41-year-old Domi, who played junior for the Peterborough Petes and went on to a 16-year NHL career, is the assistant coach on the GTHL Don Mills minor midget Flyers, for whom the younger and highly-rated Domi toils.
The Flyers beat Pittsburgh 9-0 in their first game of the Fitzsimmons Towing and Repair Tournament of Champions midget hockey tournament at the Evinrude Centre Friday and Ottawa Valley Titans 4-1 in their second at the Memorial Centre. All Max Domi did was score seven goals in the first game, two in the second.
Canes' Bodie fights for his chances
www.newsobserver.com
Troy Bodie of the Carolina Hurricanes says he may watch a little more video than the average NHL player.
“You’ve got to do your homework,” Bodie said, “and I find myself doing a lot.”
But it’s not so much studying the Boston Bruins forecheck or, say, how Mats Zuccarello of the New York Rangers scoots around in the offensive zone. Bodie often is found checking out HockeyFights.com on his laptop, seeing who has the best right cross or left hook, scoping out the cheap-shot artists of the league.
Oilers need MacIntyre in lineup
www.edmontonjournal.com
Who cares if nobody wants to fight MacIntyre? He can ride the range. He can glare at people and cruise by the opposing bench.
All the Oilers need is one big hit from MacIntyre on an irritant like Stars winger Steve Ott, who’s a pretty good player when he’s not stirring up trouble. It might stop his shenanigans.
“Something like that really bugs me,” said MacIntyre. “What do we play them? Three more times?
Rangers' Boogaard likely done for season
www.nypost.com
Derek Boogaard hasn’t played a game for the Rangers since taking a punch in the face from Matt Carkner during their fight in Ottawa on Dec. 9.
And from the way John Tortorella put it Thursday when asked about the concussed winger’s health and status, it doesn’t seem likely No. 94 will suit up again this season.
Carkner poised for return

(The coaching staff ) was trying to match up against speed. (The opposition) didn’t have much toughness, the last two games we’ve played,” said Carkner, second on the team in penalty minutes with 90. “I just want to improve every part of my game. It’s not one single thing.”
Carkner says he has been working as hard as he can to be ready for when he does get back in. He also admits it’s not easy being singled out.
Dance card empty for Oilers' MacIntyre

NHL tough guys don’t mind taking a few shots, but they do mind taking them from guys who can end their season with one clean punch. And after what MacIntyre did to Raitis Ivanans in the season opener (the Flames tough guy hasn’t played since), opponents are treating him like he has a permanent case of swine flu.
Rangers' Avery takes blame for sloppy Dallas demise
www.nypost.com
For when Avery was banned by the NHL then all but fired with pay by then Dallas owner Hicks after comments aimed at Flames defenseman Dion Phaneuf, that marked the end of Hull’s job in the Stars’ hockey department and the end of Hull’s friendship with Avery.
“I apologize to Brett Hull,” Avery told The Post. “Brett Hull is the guy who saw that I could help his team, and I didn’t do that, and I hurt him.
“Obviously it hurt our relationship. That’s my No. 1 regret about the whole situation.”
Konopka: Enforcer and Entrepreneur
islanders.nhl.com
Opponents and teammates alike choose a multitude of words to describe Islanders forward Zenon Konopka. Philanthropical may not always be the first to come to mind, but it’s one in the forefront of his recent charitable efforts with the Islanders Children’s Foundation. One of Konopka’s business interests off the ice is Vin-Aire, an instant wine aerator that expedites the decanting process of red wine.
