The Quiet Before

Nothing to post the last couple of days, but there’s a full slate of games on tap for tonight and some interesting matchups.

The Flames recalled Eric Godard yesterday.  The Flames play the Wild tonight, and if you don’t think Godard was brought up to specifically counter Derek Boogaard, then you might have missed the last Flames-Wild game:

Another call-up of note: the Blues recalled D.J. King.  The Blues take on the Blue Jackets and Jody Shelley tonight.  There have been three games and three fights in the series so far this season.

The Islanders play the Rangers for the fourth time this season tonight as well.  The rivalry has been relatively tame compared to other seasons, but has had its moments.  However, Rangers heavyweight Colton Orr is still suspended.

Other games have interesting matchups, but there’s no reason to jinx anything here…

Boogaard to Miss Games After Godard Fight

Vote! As was "hinted" at earlier today, Eric Godard took on Derek Boogaard tonight. It looked like it was going to be all Boogey until Godard slipped in a couple of heavy shots, stunning Boogaard. Boogaard then straightened out only to get popped by Godard again. Godard then took him to the ice, not that he needed much help. Boogaard went to the penalty box, but didn't spend much time there as he left and went to the lockerroom shortly after. The good word is Boogaard has suffered……

Well as a Flames fan it sure was refreshing to have a heavyweight win back in Calgary!

I probably wouldn’t place a wager on the rematch though, but go Godard go !!!
