Preds-Canucks Swing Into 2009

Happy New Year!  I hope you enjoyed the holidays safely, and may everyone have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2009.

Just a few fights tonight.  One from the Bolts-Caps game.  Adam Hall and Chris Clark grappled for a bit before being broken up.

The other two came out of Nashville.  Jordin Tootoo sought out Alex Burrows at the beginning of the game for a hit Burrows put on JP Dumont earlier in the season.  Wade Belak took on Darcy Hordichuk in the thid.

There was only one fight New Year’s Eve, Jody Shelley went with Derek Boogaard.  It was Boogaard’s fight, but Shelley continues his busy and entertaining season.

The Gillies Tree

Dave Dye clarifies a misconception about the relationship between Colton Gillies and Clark Gillies:

Most bios of the Wilds’ rookie Colton Gillies call him the nephew of Hall of Famer Clark Gillies . Not true. “I’ve traced it to Colton being the son of my cousin’s son, so I think that would make him my third cousin, right?” said Clark Gillies. The two have never met. Colton scored his first NHL goal against Clark’s former team, the Islanders.
