One More Time
The Ducks and Sharks played the second game of a home and home last night. Parros and Parker were able to find each other again. Parker now has three fights this season, all against Parros.
Can anyone tell me why the teams decided to wear white at home for the series? It was a nice change. While the “dark” jersey is usually more colorful, and you’ll probably see more fans in the stand wearing them, having the home team wear “dark” can make a lot of games look the same for the home crowd. Your favorite team in whatever color jersey against the guys in white. From the 60s until just a few years ago the home team wore white and you’d see the opposition come onto the ice in red, green, blue. Every game looked drastically different, even if it wasn’t played that way. Small thing, I know, but the NHL should consider switching back to home team wears white.
There was one other scrap last night, Karl Stewart vs Kevin Bieksa. The fight was basically Bieksa tossing punches while Stewart tried to get out of his tangled, unstrapped jersey.
Parros-Parker is above, Stewart-Bieksa is a preview on the videos page. Both are also available as a download on the vids page.
To pre-empt the questions: Yes, the update is still coming, probably today.
What to look forward to tonight:
- The Battle of Pennsylvania always has potential.
- According to the Star Tribune Derek Boogaard will be back in the lineup against the Panthers.
Though Boogaard, the team’s enforcer, has no points in 34 games, Lemaire wants him to realize he can help the team in other ways besides scoring.
“It’s forechecking, holding the puck, tipping pucks,” Boogaard said. “I haven’t been doing that. We talked, and the things [Lemaire] said to me make sense.”
With no heavyweight on Florida’s roster, it’s probably a good game for Boogaard to work on those things.
